    Sonny and Rafael are in a secret relationship from sometime soon after 17x23 “Heartfelt Passages” until Barba’s sudden departure in 19x13 “The Undiscovered Country.” Sonny had been about to propose when Rafael left and cut ties, leaving Sonny heartbroken and confused, with no closure. He moves on, but never gets over it. Years later, Sonny is married to Amanda and finds himself increasingly going through the motions in his life, unable to stop thinking about his lost love.
