Work Text:
“Chris, Darling,” Street’s voice rings out, as clear and as sweet as a summer bell. The outside air is fresh and invigorating, and he takes in the gentle curves of Chris’s silhouette; it’s like a painting with the golden sunset behind her. She turns from her place looking out on the balcony to find him in a matching white robe, something between a soft smile and a knowing smirk on his face. And his dimples. Always his dimples. “It’s ready.”
“Darling?” She quirks an eyebrow, making him break into a true, wide grin. His arms come around her waist as his eyes survey the twinkling lights in the distance like their own personal stars. One of her hands rests on his while the other cradles his jaw. He nuzzles into her until he has access to her neck, nipping softly at the delicate skin.
“I thought I’d try something new.”
“I see,” she breathes out with a shiver as he catches a sensitive spot beneath her ear, their bodies swaying just so. “I’ll think on it. And, as much as I’d love to stay out here, I think inside is calling our names.”
She has to keep herself from wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist while they’re still on the balcony, but once inside the bets are off. Her slippers are abandoned on the plush floor and she moans into his mouth as her lips claim his. It’s only when her feet float down to the cool tile that the bathroom comes into focus.
Gentle steam rises from the water, covered in a layer of bubbles and rose petals. Candles line the edge around most of the tub, and the slight smell of smoke mixes with the sweet citrus of the bubble bath. Chris is mesmerized by the way their light flickers so beautifully.
Her hands undo the tie on the robe and she shrugs it off, letting it pool at her feet. Street can’t take his eyes off the line of her back and the splashes of black ink that cover her shoulder blades and underneath her ribs, all of her that he’s come to know so intimately. He watches the small twitch of her muscles when her foot first meets the hot water and it jolts through her nerves, and then she practically melts down into it.
Once she’s in, she notices the two champagne glasses and the bottle on ice on the other ledge, and she turns back to him, her eyes sparkling.
“Are you going to stand there or are you going to join me?”
He doesn’t need to be asked twice.
The water sloshes as he slips in, pulling her between his legs. His chest is strong and steady behind her, and she tilts her head back to kiss his jaw. Neither have ever felt as relaxed as they do right now. Bubbles and petals swirl around, soft when they brush against them; it’s all such a luxury that he closes his eyes to soak it all in. When he opens them, she’s smiling.
Carefully, Chris pours the champagne, the glasses clinking brightly when she hands his over. She takes in his face until she feels turned inside out and a heat all their own sends a tingle over her spine.
He notices, and leans down with a smirk before trapping her mouth in a deep kiss. She moans into the smooth sweetness of his lips and the taste that lingers on them. When his finger curls underneath her chin to pull her closer, she goes willingly, nails digging into his shoulder to keep from slipping in the water. Her back is slick underneath his fingers, and he holds her tighter, too.
When they have to part for air, her forehead falls to his collarbone, and his lips to the crown of her head. Their chests are heaving, bodies covered in a flush. Slowly, Chris drags her head across his chest to hold it up, turning so they’re sitting how they were before. Street’s smirk softens, his free hand closing around the stem of his glass to take a sip. Only a thin ring of green is visible with how large his pupils are and she’s sure hers look the same, her nails dragging up his wrist when he comes to hold her waist. With her head pillowed on his chest, she gazes up at him through her long lashes.
“Darling… I like it.”
