Makoto doesn’t do anything but let out another disappointed sigh, almost imperceptible. Almost, if not for Izumi’s keen eye, trained over the years to recognize every minutiae of Makoto’s movements, to interpret it all perfectly and correctly so he can leap to help Makoto as soon as he shows any signs of feeling unwell. “I don’t want to be cruel to you, Izumi-san.”
Makoto’s voice is kind, almost pitying. The rest of his sentence hangs unspoken in the air between them — I don’t want to be cruel to you, but you’re right, I don’t want you around anymore.
