Regulus stared at him, his posture stiffening as if bracing for an insult. “Is that supposed to be a compliment?”
“It’s the truth,” James said simply. “I see it, Reg. You don’t believe in all that blood purity nonsense. Not really.”
Regulus’s eyes flashed, a mixture of anger and something more vulnerable, fleeting. “You don’t know anything about me, Potter.”
“I know enough,” James pressed, stepping closer again. “I know you’re smarter than they give you credit for. I know you’re braver than you let on.”
