Cookies for all, and kisses for you

Summary:

Ibiki knows how to bake. So the Hokage put him in charge of baking the cookies. There is no way to escape. Even when the cookies are already in the oven.

Work Text:

Never in the years that he has been alive, never once he thought of dealing with this. Ibiki faced enemy Shinobi, he was captured and tortured, but never once, not one time he was forced to get into the kitchen, adorn an apron and bake for god knows how many Shinobi. Until now, that is. He grumbles and looks behind him, where Tsunade-sama is running around.

“Get to work, Morino!” she yells, frantically grabbing a bowl and a spatula. “We have to have Christmas cookies tonight.” She turns to check the oven.

Ibiki wants to ask her why she thinks he would be a good baker. But he knows why she thinks that. It’s because he sort of is. Kind of. He is not the best. But he does bake. Like, a lot. But that is in the privacy of his own home. With nobody else present. Just he and his small kitchen. And, he only bakes small batches.

Now he is surrounded by a couple other Shinobi, who also got roped into this whole ordeal.

Like Iruka, who is stirring in a bowl. And Yamato, who is checking the ovens on the other side of the kitchen.

Lastly, there is Kakashi. To be honest, it looks like he is just there to read his porn. He sits on the table, situated in the middle of the kitchen. His porn book is right in front of his face and he looks completely unbothered by the fact that there is such ruckus around him.

Funny, how these are all the people he has a crush on. Funny he didn’t wanted to acknowledge that until now. No, he still doesn’t want to acknowledge it. He doesn’t want to think about it. He doesn’t want to be here. He doesn’t want-

“Morino!” Tsunade-sama yells again.

Ibiki sighs, rolls his eyes and then, he rolls up his sleeves.

It doesn’t that all that long for the kitchen to be filled with delicious scents. Ibiki may not be the best baker, but he is good and efficient. There are five different types of cookies baking. He shouted out instructions and soon, everybody present was working on some kind of baking project. Yes, he even demanded help from their dear Hokage. And yes, even Kakashi was forced to put his book aside. He didn’t even complain. As far as Ibiki heard.

Ibiki rubs his hands together and nods. “Right, don’t forget to get them out of the oven when the timer goes off,” he says. He turns around and walks away, only to be trapped in the middle of the doorway.

Like, literally trapped. He is unable to move. Not forward, not backwards and he can’t even turn around. He can’t even move his head to look behind himself.

“Is there something wrong, Morino?” Tsunade-sama asks. She tilts her head to one side, narrows her eyes and takes one, small, cautious step towards him.

“I can’t move,” Ibiki answers.

“Ah, yes, that would be my doing,” Iruka says. He scratches the scar on his nose and looks away. “Tsunade-sama gave me instructions to set up a trap, so that nobody would be able to get out of the kitchen when we were baking. So I set up a mistletoe trap.”

Ibiki feels irritation rising in his body. He can’t stop it from getting out through his voice. “So, I am stuck here until the cookies are done baking?” he asks. His eyebrow twitches.

“Well, you will be released when the times goes of yes. But there is also another way to get out of it.” Iruka walks close towards him, but just not within range.

“Like what?” Ibiki asks. It is hard to talk to somebody who is not right in front of him. He can see a bit of him, from the corner of his eye, but he is straining his eyes to look that way.

“Well, I mean, you are stuck in a mistletoe trap…” Iruka’s voice trails of.

“It worked well. Thank you, Umino-sensei. Nobody escaped the kitchen yet.” Tsunade-sama sounds way to cheerful, for Ibiki’s liking.

“We still can,” Kakashi muses. He appears next to Iruka, with his hand on his chin and his one visible eye narrowed. “I mean, we only have to kiss each other, when one gets stuck.”

“But, the cookies are nearly done. After that, we can just walk out. I don’t think kissing is necessary at this moment,” Yamato mutters.

Ibiki sighs and closes his eyes. There is nothing to do but wait, for now, it seems.

Fifteen minutes seems long. But Ibiki manages it. Like said before, he endured torture. This is nothing. This is just waiting till the times goes off, and listening to all the other Shinobi in the kitchen. All while he can only breathe and look in front of him.

But the timer goes of and he takes a deep breath. Only to find out that he still can’t move.

“Alright, I’m heading out through this door. I have a meeting with the council. Get the cookies out of the ovens and all that. Thank you for your help.” Tsunade-sama escapes through the other door, without as much as breaking a sweat.

“Morino-sama, are you alright? The timer went off. You should be able to move,” Iruka says.

“Get the cookies out of the oven,” Yamato says. “Perhaps that is the trigger.”

Ibiki can’t see behind him, but he hears a lot of ruckus. Ovens that are opened. Platters being put down on the table. All of that.

“Can you move?” Iruka asks him.

Ibiki tries. His fingers itch, but he can’t move them. Same goes for his feet. And all his other body parts.

“Still nothing?” Yamato asks.

“We can’t have that,” Kakashi says. He steps forwards, into Ibiki’s circle.

Ibiki can’t move. So he can’t back out of the doorway. He can only widen his eyes as Kakashi lowers his mask and moves to stand on his tiptoes.

Kakashi’s face is pretty. He still looks young. One little beauty mark below his lips. His thin lips. Lips that are somehow coming closer towards Ibiki’s and …

Ibiki closes his eyes. He feels warm. Not an embarrassing kind of warm, but a nice kind of warm. Like eating cookies, together with hot chocolate. It moves through his body. He moves his arms up and grabs a hold of Kakashi’s shoulders.

Kakashi hums in the kiss and that is the moment that Ibiki realizes that this is real. He opens his eyes and pushes Kakashi away.

Kakashi smiles at him. “There you go. You are able to move your hands. And arms.” He nods towards Ibiki’s arms.

“I don’t think he is completely free yet,” Yamato says. He appears behind Kakashi and points down. “Look, his feet. They are still in the same position as before.” He frowns.

Ibiki tries to move his feet, but Yamato is right. He isn’t able to move then.

“Kiss him again,” Iruka says. There is a sort of teasing in his voice.

Kakashi shrugs and moves up, kissing Ibiki again.

It doesn’t do anything. Except, make Ibiki feel warmer than before.

“I think it’s because I tied the trap to all of us. Perhaps…” Iruka moves towards Ibiki, face red of embarrassment and scratching his nose. “Excuse me,” he says, before grabbing a hold of Ibiki’s shoulders and pulling him down.

Their lips meet and Ibiki closes his eyes. The kiss with Iruka is sweet, like the cookies they made. It’s a nice one, even with their height differences.

As a result, Ibiki moves one foot.

“And, what about your other one?” Yamato asks.

By now, Ibiki is fed up with everything. He didn’t want to be here. But he got here and he made those cookies. He instructed the others and he thought he could get away. To get home, to drink some coffee and relax, with a book.

“Right, you tied the trap to all of us. Perhaps…” Yamato sighs, shakes his head and gently pushes Iruka to the side. He takes his place and smiles softly. “Let’s hope this is enough.” Their lips meet and Ibiki, although he hates to admit it, likes it. It’s another soft kiss, which warms him from the inside out.

He moves his feet, both of them and steps outside of the doorway.

“I am free,” he says. His heart is beating way to fast, his face is probably red from all the embarrassment and he doesn’t want to stay there. “Thank you,” he says, before fleeing the scene.

===================================================================================

Ibiki groans and places a hand over his face. His face which is still hot. He is seated at his own kitchen table, damping steaming mug of coffee in front of him. He wants to forget all that happened.

“It wasn’t all that bad,” somebody tells him.

Ibiki drops his hand and looks at the intruder next to him.

Kakashi shrugs. “Imagine that you, and two others, have a huge crush on another person. And that the Hokage-sama somehow found out about it, and that she devised a plan to trap him in the opening of the door.” He chuckles. “Now, that is bad, isn’t it?”

Ibiki widens his eyes.

“But the kisses were good, right?” Kakashi looks away and scratches the back of his head.

“Ask him about the date,” Yamato yells from the outside.

“If he wants to go on a date,” Iruka says.

Ibiki feels his whole body heat up and he glances down. “Did any of you bring cookies?” he asks. He chuckles. “I think I want to try some.” He looks up, towards the window, where Iruka and Yamato stand. “Come inside,” he says, softly.

“Are you sure about that? They won’t leave,” Kakashi says.

“You’re already in. Can’t leave them out of this.” Ibiki shrugs. He doesn’t know what will come of this, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try.
