Chapter Text
The fire crackled gently, the lights created by its flames highlighting each separate brick of the fire place. The walls were a gentle cream colour, some spots were more active, their buttercup bodies morphed and danced across the cream walls.
In a soft, beige chair, sat a Flareon, she had long, blonde, thick hair that curled around her head, resting a top her mane, that was just as curly, and was much thicker. She covered her eyes with her hair, although her hair didn’t cover the scar on her lower face.
She held a book in her paws, she used her yellow, left paw to support the book, and her red, right hand to flip the pages. The room was dead quiet, only the rustle of the turning page could be heard now and again. Although, her river of thoughts as she read was interrupted by the sound of paws walking across the stone floor in the corridor. She placed her book down, and looked up at the door to see who was there, a small quiver running down her spine, only to be met with a reply.
“Mama?” A small voice asked, as her eldest, an eevee, whose eyes were covered by an obsidian blindfold he wore always no matter what was happening. He had the same thick, curly mane his mother had.
“Oh Flamy!” She sighed in relief, her fur settled down and her tail has returned to resting around her legs. “What’s the matter sweetie, why are you up so late?” She asked him, unsure of his reasoning, “It’s a very long time past your bed time, what would Lady Pollux say if she knew children like you were staying up so late, she’d be so upset!”she explained to him, plopping her book down on the coffee table and flush climbed up next to her.
“I had a bad dream mama!” He cried, small tears falling down his face, making his orange fur stick out in weird, little wet spikes. He curled up around his mother’s arm, as she used her other one to wipe up his tears.
“Oh honey, I’m sorry, do you want to talk about it?” She looked down at Flamy, a small tremble in her heart arouse, he was already affected by the terrors of him too?
“I dreamt that, that Blazy died and you left me behind to fulfil your mission, but then you never came back to find me!” Don’t go mummy, stay here, please!!” He cried out, sobbing harder than before, dark stains began to grow on his blindfold, revealing the location of his eyes underneath. Marina sighed, she knew why this was happening, after all, it was clearly not just random nightmares, it was the 10th one that month, but was too afraid to tell him yet, he was too young to understand..
Maybe one day.
“Oh Flamy, Mummy’s here, I won’t be going for a while! Tell you what, why don’t I tell your favourite story?“ She suggested to him, Flamy stared up at her, sniffling. He has a clear pillar dripping out his nose, which he wiped away with his paw.
“The one where Pollux guides the lost children in her moonlight to safety, and allowing them to escape their pain?” He asked looking up, his ears perked up. His mother nodded.
“Yes that one, I’ll read it to you, then you need to go to bed sweetheart, you have a school play tomorrow, remember?” She told him, gently tapping his nose, she smiled down at him.
