“Who..told you that..?” Jinx's voice kept that soft tone, not daring to speak any louder, she couldn’t speak any louder without seeming weak. She let curiosity wander as her eyes shifted away from her boy savior. She blinked away the blurry vision, staring softly at the makeshift grenade, her makeup smearing as she let her tears roll down her cheeks. Her thumb carefully traced the metals indents in such a way where it seemed she cared for it.
Ekko stared at Jinx with care, his lips tugging into a small smile, the fact he was getting Jinx to say more than a few words to him was a start. He chuckled softly before sighing at the memory, “It was you..! A different you..” he quickly explained and swallowed as unease washed over him. He spoke cautiously, “I was in a world where you were Powder.” His palm trailed to the side of the machine, studying her movements as he grabbed the string, ready to pull when need be, “The world was almost perfect, it had almost everyone there and it was..” He quietly thought for a moment and sighed in misbelief, “surreal..it was a dream.” His smile released and he stood quiet, “All I ever wanted..”
He audibly relaxed as he heard a weary chuckle, “I get it, I know you aren’t crazy..” she smiled for a moment, “What was..-”, once a smile slowly fell from her face and she softly cleared her throat, not daring to look up from the bomb, “what was she like?” A soft tremble laced her speech, and just like that, she couldn’t speak. She quietly tried to regain her composure, staring hard into her deadly gadget, her beautiful gadget..
“She was different..” Ekko softly chuckled, his eyes shifted, falling onto the pattern of the floor for a moment. A soft, kind smile tugged at his lip, his face clearly lighting up at the memories of Powder. “She was brilliant.” Jinx's face shifted, her lips pouted. She felt a ping of anger? Which was off, she didn’t know why she was feeling resentment? She couldn’t place the feeling. She swallowed, “Good for you, Ekko.” She grimaced, “If she was soooo brilliant, why’d you decide to leave the joint..?” She tightened the grip on her precious invention. Ekko sensed the annoyance in her voice and for a moment, he felt a sense of accomplishment? He didn’t know why and he wasn’t going to think too hard about it. “I missed..” Ekko blinked as realization dawned on him, his real intention, his real reason was incredibly selfish. Ekko sighed and shook his head softly, pushing the reason away. “Wasn’t fair to the other Ekko, it wasn’t my world..” He walked towards the edge and sat down. Jinx raised a brow at him, momentarily confused, deciding on if she should trust Ekko. She said nothing as she sat down beside him, looking down at the dark bottomless.
A sigh came from the jinx. “I get that, I guess..”, she mumbled as her eyes tear away from her bomb, looking at him. Ekko let out a soft hum at her response, his hazel brown eyes shifted, the two were staring at each other and as much as Ekko didn’t want to admit it… even in the dark, her violet red eyes continue to be all he ever wanted to look at. “Want to catch an old friend up..?” Ekko blinked at her, muttering with a small smile. Jinx shifted her eyes away, and for a moment, he thought Jinx smiled at him. She allowed her gaze to fall back down to her bomb and just like that, all her guilt returned, her smile faltering a tad, “I met this kid, Isha. It was quite literally fate! I mean, like come on! She fell onto me.” Jinx smiled wide, giggling at the fond memory. “She was alone..-, like me. She had no one to call her own. She needed someone, and it’s so incredibly selfish but I needed someone too..” Jinx's smile faltered a moment, nodding to herself, comforting herself and her decisions. Ekko just continued looking at her, listening to every word she said so intently. “I mean, who was I to deny her that, Ekko? Who was I to deny her a family?” Her smile had never faded. Ekko smiled at that. It was the first time he’s ever seen her smile so gently. “And even though she saw me as family, I saw her as..everything..” Jinx’s eyes lit up at her memory of her blue haired kid but it faded, just as her smile did. Jinx sniffled softly, her left hand wiped away tears attempting to roll off her face.
She felt her lip tremble and let out a quiet sob, her right hand set the bomb beside her rushing to help her other hand hide her face from her boy savior. Ekko felt his heart begin to ping in pain. He scooted over to her immediately, to aid her, “Hey..Hey..Jinx, don’t cry..” he spoke softly, feeling useless as Jinx cried into her hands. “She’s all I had. All I ever wanted. She made me into a better person.” She whispered as she held back her sobs, she wanted to scream, to beg any sort of god out there to give her back her Isha, her kid. “And now!? She’s gone. She’s..” Jinx froze as Ekko had pulled her into a hug, leaving it loose enough to where she’d be able to leave if she so chooses. Jinx began to sob louder and moved her hands from her face only to wrap them around Ekkos waist. She shut her eyes tightly and turned her face into Ekkos shirt. “I-I-I-I did all th-thah-that I was su-sup-suh-supposed to-to-to do!” Her voice cracked, snot came from her nose as she cried into Ekko’s shirt. He softly patted and rubbed her back, giving her a sense of comfort she had been so desperately needing, that she had been craving. “H-Huh-Howw.. How am I..-“ she sobbed incoherently.
The moment lasted a while, comforting Jinx, comforting the disturbed, however to Jinx? She was disturbing the comfortable. Eventually, Jinx slowly straightened her posture, sitting up as she wiped her snot away with her arm. Suddenly, Ekko felt cold. He felt as if he wasn’t complete anymore, he missed her warmth. “Sorry about the shirt..” She laughed and snorted, which caused her to giggle even more. Ekko smiled at her, he chuckled, “Someone’s feeling better..” he commented with a smirk, due to his teasing, he was met with Jinx lightly jabbing his arm. Ekko rolled his eyes playfully with a laugh, which too caused Jinx to laugh. Their fits of laughter echoed through Jinx’s lair, eventually, Ekkos giggles had died down. His eyes focused onto the pretty sight in front of him, all he was able to focus on was that even when her eyes were puffy, even when she had been ugly crying into him, she was still the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen. Jinx noticed his gaze and her laughter died, his staring had left her nervous. She chuckled awkwardly, her right hand tucking her blue strands behind her ear. For a moment, he thought her pale cheeks turned rosy, perhaps he imagined it? Regardless, she was perfect, no matter if her hair was short, long, up, or down. She was gorgeous.
Ekko blinked as Jinx spoke, “Why do you always look at me like..that, Ekko!?” Jinx got defensive, “Why must you stare at me with so much..-“ She stuttered, causing Ekko to raise a brow at her. He chuckled at her awkwardness, “Don’t laugh at me!” Her eyebrows furrowed. Ekko rolled his eyes and sighed, “So much what?” Jinx looked him up and down, who the hell was he rolling his eyes at?, “You know what Ekko!” She glared at him, “Now drop that damn attitude..” Jinx grabbed his shirt and shook him. Ekko sighed and shut his eyes, “Yes ma’am, Jinx.” His eyes shifted to her again. Jinx hummed, “Now what’s up with you, boy savior..?” Ekko sighed nervously, “It’s always some game with you- with us. I’m tired of these games..the games I feel I’m never going to win..” Slowly, his hands moved and rested atop of Jinx’s. For a moment, Jinx looked at him, a confused look settled onto her face and even a little bit of anger rested into those vibrant eyes as Ekko softly grabbed her pale cold hands. “I’m tired of dancing. Why can’t I just stand with you? Why can’t I just..- why am I not allowed to wish for something more than just a dance with you..?” Ekko stared at her, pleading silently.
It stayed like that for a moment, the confused, angry look dissipated from her face, it was replaced with kindness, he can see that Jinx let herself relax into his kind eyes. “Ekko..” her hands moved from his hands, her touch dancing on his skin as it settles on the sides of his face. She said nothing as her thumb gently brushed his cheek. “I don’t know what’s to come… I don’t know if I’m gonna jinx this too..but I know..I’d rather feel that happiness..with you..for at least a little bit..” That caused Ekko to smile at her, “All I’ve ever wanted was for you to let me in..” Jinx blushed at that and smiled a bit, “I was just..too blind, too much in my own head to see that..” She sighed as the weight on her shoulders momentarily lifted, “Thank you for..waiting..” Ekko nodded softly, he glanced at her lips and softly smiled at her touch. “I would do it all over again..” Jinx smiled at that. The two leant in, a nervous sigh came from the blue haired, she felt her eyes go half-lidded, Ekko soon followed. The two leant in until their lips collided. The kiss was clumsy, soft. To them it was perfect, this moment was just all they could ever wish for. Maybe it was wrong to think this, but the two thought they deserved to be kissed like this. They kissed for a moment before mutually deciding to pull away. A soft pant came from the both of them and it caused them to giggle, pressing their foreheads together, enjoying their shared moment. Jinx slowly looked at him and brushed his cheek with her thumb once more, “Isha would have loved you..” she whispered sadly. Ekko slowly opened his eyes to look at his pretty girl, he kissed her nose, which caused Jinx lips to tug into a smile, speaking quietly;
“I would have loved Isha..”
