Chapter 1: A Life of Ashes

Chapter Text

Your life never went in your favor. So when you would find your car spray painted, or your bicycle wheels slashed, you wouldn't be surprised that it happened to you, at this point you didn’t even get angry or curse at yourself. It was quite obvious why people did this to you. You looked fairly different from normal people. You didn’t understand why, but your skin is so pale, it looks gray. Your hair is naturally completely white and your eyes are the same. Just to add to this sickly look, your eyes are sunken in, having a blackish look around them. You would have had ashen skin, were it not for the fact that you are missing your right cheek. It was opened up, baring all your teeth like a painting displayed in a museum. The wound was surrounded by a blackish-sticky substance. You looked dead.

Your appearance wasn’t the only oddity about you, another thing on your list was the fact that you had a parasite, an unstable one, an uncontrollable one, and that scared you greatly. You called him Venom. Obviously, people would avoid you because of how different you are, even though you put an illusion every few weeks over yourself to make you look normal, like taking away the scars on your face or changing your eye color to green and your hair to brown instead of white, it made you look more normal, you still had skin pale as shit though. It keeps fading away though, and that's why you had to put it back every few weeks. You quickly learned the hard judgment of everyone around you, and decided it was best to keep to yourself and avoid everyone, to go unnoticed. At first, all this made you sad, but now you couldn’t care less, you have accepted your fate in this corrupted society, accepting the fact that you aren’t normal. You treated yourself as the outcast that you were, not having any motivation for living anymore.

Your day started normally, waking up to the dim sky at 5 am, although staying in bed until 6 am trying to find some meaning in your life, to look for something you could look up to. Finding nothing you get out of bed thinking of how much of a disappointment you must to need to look for something and find nothing. You change into your normal black clothes, and beanie, put on your shoes, brush your teeth, and leave for college, despite being 16 years old. You are extremely smart for your age, expanding your oddities. You leave at around 7 am, not surprised to find your car spray painted.

You are 30 min early to school, which starts at 8 am. Your school schedule is straightforward, you attend all the classes, obviously, 3 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. During the breaks, you would hide from everyone in the darkest corner of the library to study and keep away from everyone. After uni, you would go to work at your local ice cream shop called Scoop Street. Other than going to school and work, you didn’t do any more socializing.

Currently you are getting your English books for your first class from your locker as you hear the loud commotion of people coming to you.

“Well hello snow white!” Someone shouts, smashing your locker close. You see it was Heather, Spencer, and their followers. “Where did Prince Charming go?” He laughed.

“I think he mixed her up with a paper sheet!” Heather joined, causing everyone to laugh at you.

“What do you want?” You asked, looking down to the floor, trying to hide yourself as much as possible.

“The homework please,” They asked you mockingly. You pull out five folders, one for all your bullies.

“Thanks, zombie!” Heather says.

You snap at that comment. “You know, your opinion was completely unnecessary, but thanks for sharing!” You look up with a smile plastered on your face only to be greeted by them glaring knives into your skull, their smiles gone.

Before you can realize what was happening, Spencer has punched you across the face, causing you to fall to the floor, where he gave you a nice few kicks to your stomach. You feel blood slowly begin to flow. After what feels like an eternity, Spencer stops his assault.

“Don’t you DARE talk to us like that again!” He warns you.

“ASSHOLE!” You hear them call back at you as they walk away.

You quickly get up and rush to the bathroom, evaluating the state you are in. You look at your face in the mirror. You flinch at the sight, you definitely can’t stay at school. Your face was swollen, your red blood splashed all over it, and your shirt.

You start washing as much blood off of you as you can, with no real use as you cough up more of it.

You decide to leave, getting in your car and driving back to your apartment.

During your drive, you realize the commotion growing around you at an alarming rate. You pinpoint all of it to be coming from the Avengers Tower. What an interesting turn of events. You think to yourself before parking your car away from the road and running in the opposite direction as everyone else, towards the danger.

“Come on Venom, we’re going up.” You say jumping up on the glass of the Avengers tower.

You got it. He says, changing into his form. You use your natural sense of location to see where the most hostages are. To your delight, there aren’t many left. The most is coming from a small group of people on the 73rd floor. Venom smashes open a window immediately being greeted with bullets flying towards you and Venom. He easily deflects them, jumping at all the people shooting and biting their heads off.

Venom!! Seriously! That was disgusting! You say to him.

“No, that was necessary.” He counters.

Well you didn't have to bite their heads off!

“Do you want me to have energy to save your ass?!”

Venom, we are now changing, you are going to scare everyone! You say, sensing the growing fear in the room. Venom and you change and you are back in your normal body.

You know, with how you look, I don’t think that changing bodies will be of much use. Venom says.

“Thanks” You roll your eyes.

You find a tablet and hack into the security cameras. After doing that you go to the hostages.

“Are any of you hurt?” You ask. Everyone is looking at you scared, not answering your question. You roll your eyes and snap your fingers three times asking them to hurry up with the answer.

“N-No,” A woman says from the back of the room.

“Good, thank you, now I will give you this tablet, you will be able to see through all the cameras. Lead the group down to the ground floor, the Avengers will tend to you there. Be careful!” You say walking to the lady and handing her the iPad. She nods and you run out of the room, looking for the next group.

Let’s change again!

“No! Now I’m in charge!” You whisper as you turn invisible. “I don’t want you to scare anyone more.”

You get into the elevator as if it were a normal day, without a care in the world.

Your sense of survival is awful.

“Well you know, those senses died a long time ago.” As you go up, you take a pen and paper out of your bag and write a note on it. Once you finish writing it, you fold it in half and place it on the floor so that it’s propped up. You leave the pen on the floor when the door of the elevator opens. You are greeted with the sight of 30 to 40 men all surrounding two people who you recognize to be Loki and Thor, who had muzzles on to prevent them from talking. They all turn in your direction as they hear the doors open, alarm clear on their faces. You are still invisible and slip out before anyone would notice your presence.

“WHAT IS THIS?! WHO’S THERE!” One of the men says. He is much bigger built than the rest of them and you assume he is their leader. He carefully walks towards the elevator, which you are holding open for him to get the note. You start using your powers to untie Loki and Thor, causing the invisibility to slip off of you.

“Are you going to take the note or not?” You ask the man when he is right next to you. Out of shock, he tries punching you, but you easily dodge him.

“And who might you be ugly?” He asks you, stepping closer.

“Your nightmare, or more like your ugliest dream, whatever you prefer really, either way, it’ll end with my victory and your defeat.” You say calmly. Everyone in the room other than the two chained-up gods and you are laughing. “I accept your surrender.” You say, still not smiling. You only cause there to be more laughter around you.

“You think you're so funny!” He says to you.

You stare at him for a few seconds before answering. “I think I’m adorable!” You furrow your brows, smiling. Everyone is laughing harder now. You start chuckling sadly, wincing slightly as you overuse your powers. You look up at Loki, who is looking directly at you. Those piercing green eyes, you’ve seen them somewhere before, you’ve seen him somewhere. Your brows furrow, trying to recollect where you’ve seen him but only reach a dead end.

Give me a second, the cuffs are stronger than I thought. You say to him telepathically. You rub your throbbing forehead, turning back to the men.

“Oh look, guys, the class clown is getting tired!” The man says going closer to you, every step pronounced with the big thud of his thick-soled military boots. You start using your powers as much as possible without fainting. You don’t move back anymore, having devised a plan.

“Y-Yeah, there is a great lack of oxygen in this room due to your stink.” You say, slightly breathless. The laughter has now faded away, all their faces turning serious and angry. “Did I get into a sensitive topic?” You ask looking around, “You know, there is an effective remedy called taking a shower.”

The man grabbed you by the throat and pressed you against the wall, only tightening his grip.

“You know, maybe in your next life you will do better at keeping your mouth shut.”

“Venom! C-Change b-bodies!” Your neck feels relieved from the release.

You got up as fast as your tired body would let you and ran to the other side of the room where Loki and Thor were. You hear the commotion of Venom killing everyone in the room, as he jumps through their bodies.

“Sorry for the delay folks, there was a little turbulence.” You say in a raspy voice, a tear escaping from your eye from the recent incident. You easily remove the muzzles from their faces and start tending to the cuffs. You realize that they are much harder to open with your powers because they were specifically made to prevent powers from being used.

“The cuffs are gonna take a bit longer, sorry.” You say, taking your screwdriver out. You start taking out the screws in them.

“Are you okay?” Loki asks you.

“Huh, yeah,” You chuckle. “How are you? I think I heard it was going to rain today.” You say sarcastically, earning a chuckle from him.

Once you finish with the screws you quickly free them from their wrists, putting the screwdriver in the pocket of your baggy pants. “Venom, come back!” You say. Venom jumps out of a body and back into you before you grab both Loki and Thor, teleporting out to the ground floor.

You feel your body fall on the floor with a thud. You can’t move anymore, you haven’t practiced your powers and so they are difficult to use for a long period. You close your eyes, finding it extremely hard to keep them open. Your head throbbed to the level of being unable to decipher anything except a continuous ringing. You can hear the racket of people moving and shouting around you, but you can’t make out what it is all about.

Hey, you’re gonna be alright, you hear me? You hear a voice in your head say. This doesn’t sound like Venom though. It’s going to be okay. That was the last thing you heard before going unconscious.
