Answers for Mary, Chapter 77: Caveat
Runtime: 1hr 42min | Size: 68.2mb
Chapter Summary: Chapter Summary: With Mary's help, Lilith casts the maternità amara curse upon her womb, an exhausting affair that leaves Lilith magically depleted and Mary soundly asleep on the bathroom floor. Not for long, however, as Mary's symbolic dreams break into the living nightmare of finding Lilith riding the hideous consequences of their actions. When Lilith admits both her fear and ignorance of what exactly is happening to her, Mary makes a desperate, late-night drive to Tabula Arcana, to beg the aid of a new friend who she correctly surmised to be a witch. Armed with the proprietor's advice, Mary returns to the cottage, where Lilith is still in bed, locked inside her cursed body, and a danger to them both.
Notes: Occasionally tinny phone audio, the last chapter before I upgraded my recording set-up.
Content warning: viscerally traumatic curse ritual, involving bloody or inflamed wounds, implied body horror; experiences of blindness, muteness, paralysis, burning and skin piercing.
Answers for Mary, Chapter 78: Nosce Te Ipsum
Runtime: 1hr 57min | Size: 110.1.mb
Chapter Summary: The events of chapter 77 from the moments after the cursing, from Lilith's perspective, revealing the horrors she privately endured, before and during Mary's absence. Within her drowned mind, where the line between reality and cruel phantasm grows ever harder to see, a mysterious presence urges her to 'know herself', in order to end her torment.
Content warning: All previous warnings, as well as hallucinatory threats of sexual assault, death and violence; experiences of suffocation/drowning, freezing and lesional skin trauma.
Answers for Mary, Chapter 79: Protego Ergo Sum
Runtime: 2hr 10min | Size: 101.7mb
Chapter Summary:
The final chapter (apart from the epilogue) of Answers for Mary. Tending to Mary's injuries - psychic and physical, some leaving inevitable scars - Lilith decides that it is high time to confront Lucifer, unwilling to put it off any longer when they have both pushed through so much to get where they are. Lilith discusses as much with Sabrina Morningstar, who has made an unapproved visit to the cottage, while Mary still sleeps. Over the next day, Lilith prepares a no-holds-barred warding of the cottage, which Mary takes notable part in, as the place's rightful owner. Then, sufficiently warded of spirit, Lilith descends to Hell, playing her final gambit before a volatile Lucifer - with Sabrina's well-rehearsed assistance.
Notes: The final scene's score is "Answer an Echo", composed by Sarcastic Mudkip. Soundscapes were arranged via MyNoise.net.
Content warning: Strong reactions to ch 77/78's trauma (Mary being very audibly distressed is its own cw), threats of physical assault and brief actual endangerment (by Lucifer).
