Notes:

Hi everyone. This is my first fan-fiction ever so bear with me here. I would love to hear feedback from everyone. I fell in love with The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton back when I was a freshman in high school. I have seen the movie and musical as well and love them as well! I hope you enjoy my story! Also I'm working on a sequel to this story.

Disclaimer: The Outsiders belong to S.E Hinton.

Chapter Text

Prologue

Harley’s POV:

It was nearing the end of the summer of 1966, and my dad got a new job in a manufacturing plant in Tulsa, a sister company he worked for in Detroit. So, we were picking up our lives.

It was me, my mom, my dad, and my older brother Ford who hated my guts. He was a star cornerback who fit in well with the Socs, even though we were a greaser family. I didn’t fit in with that crew. It probably didn’t help that I got bumped up a grade, so I was a 16-year-old going into my senior year of high school with my older brother.

The big reason why we were moving to Tulsa was because there was a risk of our family secret getting out in Detroit and moving back to town where there was family to help keep it in check was a big draw. You see, my mother grew up a Soc in Tulsa, while my father was a greaser, and my mother’s family wasn’t too fond of that, so she was cut off; hence why my parents moved to Tulsa to work in the automotive factories. That wasn’t the big secret though. You see, my brother had a drinking problem, he was a jealous person in general, but even more so when he was drunk. He took that anger out on me. I had so many broken bones and excuses for them from those rages that I think the medical professionals were starting to catch on, so we had to leave.

I was excited for a new start and to maybe turn over a new leaf where no one knew who we were. Everything was waiting for us in Tulsa. A new house was waiting for us, courtesy of the company, and school schedules were set up with AP courses galore. I couldn’t wait to set up my tutoring business, so I could set money aside for college and a motocross bike after I saw Torsten Hallman ride on the television. That was another reason why I would never fit in with the Socs, I was a tomboy at heart, who loved to get down and dirty. It was also another reason why Ford hated me, and a reminder that he came from a Greaser family and not a Soc one.
