The Cat and the Tartan Blanket

Summary:

Written for week one of GOAD’s GOetry Pillow Fight. Sometimes kitty cuddles are what’s needed to bring two beings together.

A poem by ireallyneedmoretea with art by OneDapperCat.

Work Text:

I am alone

I have no home

No one loves me

You find me wandering and you bring me inside to shelter from the cold

You wrap me in a tartan blanket, so soft and warm

You smile and tell me I'm beautiful

You tell me things you don't tell anyone

Please don't cry.  Let me cuddle you, I'll dry your tears.

Aziraphale feeding the cat

I find you wandering and you bring me inside to shelter from the rain

You wrap your arm around me, smelling like a tartan blanket

You don't smile but I see one in your eyes

You tell me things you don't tell anyone

You shiver from the cold. Let me cuddle you, I'll keep you warm.

Crowley sheltering the cat

I know where you both belong and I bring you inside to shelter each other

I stretch out, purring, across two laps, one covered with tartan

You both smile and tell me I’m beautiful. I know.

You talk about things left unsaid for so long

You cuddle me and speak words of love

We are loved

We have a home

We are together

Crowley, Aziraphale, and the cat are home
