🐻‍❄Daring Charming👑

With no hesitance in his veins, he grips the fountain pen. The harsh feather digs into his flesh. A burning reminder of his choice. Saving Crystal's parent's over his own laid back life. It's about time he makes himself useful.

He grabs onto the long sheet of paper from the mysterious, and unusual, fairies in tutu skirts. Magical ink scratching onto magical paper reaches his sensitive polar bear ears. He feels his large heart beast against his rib cage. His lungs expanding and inflating with every breath. The sound of the others breathing around him. The burning of a worried snow princess burning on the back of his head. Rosabella's shaky breath. Briar and Ashlynn's worried whispers to Crystal.

He lets out a sign as he reads the cursive writing of

"Daring Charming"

It's official. He will be put to brutal labour for 200 years, and yet, he doesn't feel a single piece of regret. The only thing he feels is worry for Crystal and her parents, along with relief of saving said snow princess' parents.

He felt a pair of arms wrap around him. "You're so selfless Daring! Thank you! Thank you!" the princess cries and he awkwardly pats her head. She pulled away and ran off with Briar and Ashlynn, her two best friends.

Just as he turned around at the sound of the trio's footsteps disappearing and Rosabella's coming closer, he felt a crack of his spine. A shot of pain shoots through him. He hears a few cracks and pops reach his ears. His body felt like it was being torn away. His skin felt like it was shrinking. Like his organs were too big for his body. He cried out as his body structure shifted. His hind legs painfully shifted to go straight and extend before snapping lower onto his pelvis bone. his shoulder blades slowly shrink, finally being able to fit into his smaller skin. His spine cracks smaller and straighter. his hands snap back to smaller and the thumb slowly cracks down. Tears spill out of his eyes as his breath starts to become erratic. His nose shrinks and his teeth arrange. His jaw snaps as it slowly goes a bit higher and back. He feels the extra skin melt away from his real flesh. The fur falling off in disgusting chunks.

He feels a hand on his back and slowly stroking the skin in comfort. He tries to calm his heart rate and slow his lungs from selfishly taking air. His vision starts to clear along with his head.

His looks down at his post paw, now hand. He had round fingernails. No fur. And most importantly, not a beast.

BEAST.

His head whips around to see Rosabella, softly stroking his spine with a look of worry on her face. Her Hazelnut eyes have a gleam of relief in them.

"I'm a beast." is all he can manage. The pain was slowly fading away, thankfully.

She was his princess. It finally hit him that he really didn't belong to Apple. The woman he had once fallen for. The woman he had once been, what he thought, destined to. But he was wrong. Completely wrong! Down to the hair colour. Down to the eye colour.

Down to the story.

Story.

What would have happened if he signed on legacy day? What would have happened if he saw his real story? Would he still chase after Apple. Or kneel in front of Rosabella as he is now? The possible change of the past terrifies him.

What would he have done?

🌹Rosabella Beauty👑

Rosabella watches as her beast, now prince, shift into a human. The disgusting crack of his bones ring throughout the hall. His small whimpers and sobs fill her ears. His melting flesh hitting the ground. His hair coming off in disgusting chunks.

She felt bile rise up her throat. But now wasn't about her. She slowly approaches as she strokes his back. She let out small coos of reassurance. Gentle hums and whispers barely cut through his gags and cries. But that didn't matter. Because on some subliminal level, she knew he was listening. That he could understand her. Could hear her words. Hear her voice.

She had her prince! She was vibrating inside. But worried overall. All that noise sounding disgustingly painful. He didn't say anything. Just trembled and spit out a few monstrous teeth.

The Mafia Fairies finally left and Faybelle just stood there. Her body looking as though she was frozen in time. Her wide eyes just stared at the prince in front of her, in Rosabella's arms.

And the moment he spoke those horrible words, she was quick to shut him down.

"No. Not anymore. You're a prince. Soon to be king. That beast form was just for a bit. But it's over now. You're safe." she said, trying her hardest to reassure him.

He just stared blankly at the floor, not an emotion on his face. Only a slight downturn of his lips from pain. His fur was finally coming off in chunks. Finally loosening and falling to the floor.

Rosabella grabbed the chunk stuck in the hood of his jacket, the piece from the nape of his neck and slipped it into her pocket. The soft fur was amazing beneath her fingertips. Daring wouldn't mind. It wasn't like she was being weird with it. It's just her Rosabella rose, just like her parent's had. That'll be a pain to explain to THE Belle and THE beast. Especially her father. He was quite protective of the father, for it was the reason he met her mother in the first place. If not for his beastly phase, they probably would not have bumped into each other in that way.

In the corner of her eye, she caught the sight of a familiar white headed girl. She backed away and watched with intent eyes as Darling kneeled next to her brother.

"Are you alright?" she said softly, despite her usual tiny voice, it seemed to have reached Daring ears for he nodded.

Rosabella watches as Daring stands up with shaky legs, using his strong sister for support. Together, they wobble out of the hall. Rosabella's heart ached at the abandon of her beastly prince. With him slowly disappearing out of sight, she spins to look at a shocked Faybelle. Her eyes were dead and she was trembling.

"What is it?" Rosabella asked, worry in her tone. Faybelle may be evil, but Rosabella cared for her.

"That was...so...vile..." Faybelle managed.

"I know," Rosabella started, approaching and rubbing her back. "I'll get you some water, if there is any unfrozen bottles, just sit down and catch your breath."

Faybelle nodded and slid down the locker. With that, Rosabella made her way the vending machine, just to be met with frozen water. She lets out a sigh and took out two dollars. Maybe there was a way to warm this. She looked at the camp the students have made. Some fires were still going for the winter was still going. Rosabella made her way to where Ruby was rubbing Lizzie's back in the tent while Raven warmed her hands next to Apple in the fire.

Rosabella sat next to Apple and put the water next to the fire. They sat in silence, despite Apple's clear need to ask about Daring, her former lover. But instead, she just looked at Raven who was tugging the blanket closer around her.

"Where is he?" Apple finally said, "and is he...better?"

Chapter 3: Akward talk with realisation

Chapter Text

🌹Rosabella Beauty👑

Rosabella looks awkwardly at the fire, watching is burn, taking in a deep breath. "Good. He's no longer a beast." she breathed.

"Excellent," Apple sighed, nibbling on the inside of her cheek.

"So. How's Darling, Apple?" Raven asked, trying to break the tension. Fire slipped out of her finger tips and into the fire, keeping it alive despite the cold.

"She's wonderful. I couldn't ask for a better princess forever after," Apple said, love in her eyes. A love that made a small tug of happiness tug at her lips.

Rosabella nodded, "good. You've really wanted your Happily Ever After and you finally got it."

"What about...you? And daring?" asked Raven, carefully.

"We just have... a tad bit more to do, is all. It won't take much longer." Rosabella sighed to herself, watching the ice melt into water. The blue reminded her of Daring's crystal eyes.

Rosabella wanted to look into his eyes and never look away ever again. It was such a pretty blue. The same blue of her necklace her papa gave her. The same blue her lamp shade was. The same blue she used to colour the eyes of her dream prince when she was younger.

"I should give Faybelle her water" she murmurs, standing up, watching the water slowly slosh back and forth in the bottle. The sound was calming. The smell of snow and concrete. she sits next to Faybelle and hands her the water, "There you go." she said with a smile. Rosabella watches as Faybelle takes the cold water from her hand. It was more like a swipe. She side eyes her harshly as she chugs down the water. Despite trying to cover up the fear yet relief in her eyes, Rosabella could see it.

"Faybelle. I know you're scared. I know you're scared of what happened. I know you care. I know you're good despite being evil in your story." Rosabella said as she puts a hand on Faybelle's knee.

"I'm not good. I'm evil and I'm going to put Briar into asleep for 100 years." Faybelle hissed, pulling her knee away slightly but not enough to knock Rosabella off. She gave her a scowl.

"Not all villains are bad." Rosabella explained. "My father. He was turned into a beast which angered him, making him hurt those around him, also due to selfishness but still. Or..." she nibbles on her lip. "your mother. She wasn't evil. Just hurt." she said, trying to be careful with her words. "I believe you're the same way. You have a good inside of you. Enough to keep you from being like the...Evil Queen, despite the...Dragon games fiasco, I believe you are much more that that. Your hurt enough to be evil. But good enough to be moral."

Faybelle didn't speak. She just stared at the half full water bottle in her hands. Her voice was scratchy when she finally spoke, "You don't know shit about me."

Rosabella sighed. "I'm more observant then you think, Faybelle." she stood and dusted the snow off of her boots and dress. "I'll see you around. Try not to cause anymore mayhem"

🐻‍❄Daring Charming👑

Daring grunts at the agony of walking. His formerly mammal bones scream at him to sit down. He shifts a tad more of his weight to his sister. She took it easy, considering her identity as the White Knight.

He lets out a pained sigh as he walked, he leans into her soft hair and lets a breath in. Her vanilla scent fills his lungs. She's been using the same vanilla shampoo and lavender perfume since she was eight years of age. He's loved that familiarity.

When he was a small child, since that age she's started using that said shampoo and perfume, the moment he got upset, his caring sister would cuddle him and he would put his nose into her hair. Now, every time he was younger, when he was upset, he would smell his little vanilla air freshener and feel much better.

"We're almost there. Then you can rest." his sister said softly. Her voice was always the best in bad situations. Her soft tone and high pitched voice. It made everything better.

He listened to each squish of their steps. Her heals and his dress shoes on the white, slushy snow. That was the only noise between them. The silence was peaceful and nice on his newly downsized eardrums.

He pulled out his key, his shaky hands unlocking it and pulling it open. Hopper liked the door to be locked, seemingly out of some worry due to him being a frog.

They wobbled into the room and he achingly sat onto his bed. Little of the pain being relieved but it was better than nothing. His sister sat next to him, her eyes looking at him as he looked down, glancing at her here and there.

"It hurt, didn't it?" she asked softly, seemingly trying to use her words carefully.

He nodded, "Yes. My entire bones rearranged, my ear drums shrunk, some skin and all my fur melted off. My eyeballs changed shape. It hurt quite a lot," he chuckled. Despite his chuckle having no humor in it, his sister smiled softly.

"You should lay down. Give your bones some rest. They deserve it" she said softly and he nodded in agreement. He layed down, his body sinking into the mattress and he leaned into the pillows and blankets. He closed his eyes, which helped his massive headache. He could hear his sister leave the room, the door closing softly. Then he drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 4: Confusing feelings

Notes:

Apologies for the short chapter. I have so much planning and I must cut off Daring to achieve that goal.

Chapter Text

🌹Rosabella Beauty👑

Rosabella listened to each heal click against the cold stone of the halls. Occasionally, the clicks were disrupted with the sound of squishy snow. But yet, the sound was peaceful. Gentle on her ears. She felt as her hair graced her arms. It reminded her of when her and her mother walked together. She would always complain of Rosabella’s hair being far too long and tickling her. She always blamed the long hair on her father with a giggle.

She glazed at a familiar door. She rapped her knuckles against the door. She listened carefully, straining her ears for any noise, which she was met with. She heard gentle familiar groans then the creaking of a bed before bedsheets being pulled aside.

The door opened to reveal her prince. His hair was messy, much like her father’s is in the morning.

“Must be a beast thing” she thought to herself before focusing on her destined prince.

“Are you feeling okay?” she asked softly.

He nods softly. “Yeah. The nap...helped. What time is it?”

“It’s about three hours after your changing.” she stated before asking a pressing question. “May I come in?”

He made a face that told her that she was deep in thought, before he gave her a nod and walked a bit to the side. She slipped inside and he shut the door.

“So. I’m the beast.” he said slowly.

“Yes.” she breathed, very excited. “You are part of my story. You are the prince I save, and you are the prince that saves me.”

“How did I save you?” he whispered. This brought her to chuckle lightly.

“In ways that you’ll never understand.” she replied in the softest voice she could muster.

“I don’t know how to feel about this. I don’t know if I want this.” he said slowly.

This made her heart drop and tears started to fill her eyes. Her heart squeezed and pulled in every which way. She felt her jaw start to gently quiver. “What...?” she asked, trying to keep her voice from trembling.

She saw guilt wash over his face. “I just....” He paused and took a breath, scratching the back of his neck nervously. “I just don’t know who I like anymore. I like Apple, but she’s dating my sister. I like Lizzie, but She’s with Ruby. And I like you.”

“Then have me.” she whispered. It broke her heart that the man she was destined to be with had other woman in his heart. She had to share the space instead of having it all to herself, which is what she wanted.

“I need time, Rosabella.” he said carefully. He refused eye contact with her, which hurt her even more.

“I’ll wait.” she whispered before walking passed him and out of the door, bumping into Hopper on the way out.

🐻‍❄Daring Charming👑

“Damn it. What have I done?” He whispered. He knew she said she would wait, but would she really? She was his only option. He was getting passed Lizzie quite quickly, but Apple was hard to get over. He was head over heels for her. He had his life planned out with her. Damn it.

He plopped down onto his bed and sighed. What was he to do? Should he talk to Darling? Should he talk to Apple? Maybe Cupid.

He heard the door open, and he looked up to see his roommate. “What was that about? Rosabella just crashed into me.”

“I just told her that I’m still into Apple.”

“Oh no. If I ever told Briar I was into someone else, she’d have my head.” Hopper sighed. He’d only recently started dating the sleepy princess. Despite Briar’s clear protests, she found him secretly cute. But that’s not what Daring is worried about. He’s worried about his own love problems.

“What the fuck do I do?” Darling complained as he wrapped around his pillow like a child.

“Maybe start with Cupid. She is the daughter of the love god.”

“That’s what I was thinking, but I never see her. I don’t have any classes with her either.”

“Maybe talk to Dexter. They are best friends.” Hopper started, but before he could finish, Daring was already out the door, off to find his brother.
