Work Text:

Serpentine,
Your form you call a flaw,
A curse. But I never saw it
That way. Have you seen your scales
Glisten in the sun? Perhaps if I joined you,
You’d believe me when I call you
Beautiful.

Serpentine,
A form I mirror
As I twist my essence into coils,
My scales a soft and shining cream
To contrast with your obsidian,
My sapphire eyes locked with your gold.

Serpentine,
I wind myself around you.
Even devoid of arms,
I seek your embrace.

Serpentine
We lie together,
Twisting around each other,
A caduceus in our garden.
You called this form a curse,
But entwined like this, it feels
Like a blessing.
