“You’re slowing down, Half-and-Half!” Bakugou barked out, already way ahead. He turned, his hiking boots crunching against dirt, his arms crossed like he was leading a military drill.
Todoroki tried to quicken his pace. “I’m enjoying the scenery. You don’t have to sprint through it.”
“Scenery’s the same shit every few feet—trees, rocks, dirt. The point is to keep moving!” Bakugou shot back.
Kaminari wheezed behind them, sweat dripping off him. “Why does he… like this so much? Isn’t he supposed to hate everything?”
“He probably yells at the trail in his head,” Shinso said with a smirk, “Bet it’s therapy for him.”
When they finally reached the summit, Bakugou stood at the edge of the cliff, the breeze ruffling his hair as he took in the view below. "This is worth it,” he muttered, almost too quiet to catch.
“Did you just admit something is nice?” Todoroki asked.
“Shut up before I leave you all behind and you find your way back alone.” Bakugou snarled, but he couldn't hide the growing smile on his face.
Shinso and Kaminari arrived last, collapsing on the ground. “We need a new hobby,” Kaminari groaned.
“No,” Shinso said, watching Blasty explain trail routes to Todoroki. “We need popcorn. This is gold.”
Todoroki nodded, clearly amused by Katsuki's love of hiking. “You’re surprisingly good at this, Katsuki,” he remarked, watching as he gestured at a distant mountain.
“No shit genius,” Bakugou shot back. “I’m great at everything. Hiking’s just basic training.”
“Sure, basic-” Kaminari groaned from the dirt. “Meanwhile, my legs are ready to detach themselves and crawl back to the dorms.”
“Maybe if you didn’t treat training like nap time, Dunce Face, you’d survive a real workout,” Katsuki snapped.
“I do work out!” Kaminari protested, earning a stare from Shinso. “...Sometimes,” he added sheepishly.
Bakugou rolled his eyes and turned back to Todoroki, pointing out a faint trail snaking up another peak. “That one’s next. The incline’s steeper, but the view at the top’s probably insane.”
Todoroki raised an eyebrow. “You’re not tired?”
“Fuck no,” Bakugou said, “You’re not chickening out, are you, Icyhot?”
Shinso nudged at Kaminari with his elbow, “They’re definitely having their own weird romantic moment right now.”
“Should we tell them we’re still here? Will they leave us here to die?” Kaminari whispered.
“Why ruin the magic?” Shinso replied as he leaned back onto the rocky ground.
