Work Text:
Watching his daughter and his beautiful idiot of a husband playing in the snow without a care in the world will be one of the most memorable things George has ever seen. Especially knowing that afterwards his husband, Dream, will most likely get sick due to him playing outside in the five-foot-deep snow. With the most lightest layers George thinks he has ever seen someone wear in cold ass weather like this.
As he’s watching the two starting to build a snowman, he voices his thoughts “Dream, you’re going to get sick, idiot! Why are you just wearing a jacket and boots? At least put on snow pants or thicker clothes at least. You’re setting a bad example for June!” George tries to look annoyed at Dream but can’t help but let a smile breakthrough as well as little giggles.
When June herself hears this, she looks up at her father with glee and says, “Dad, you don’t have to worry! I know you should wear our snow pants and boots and this annoyingly heavy jacket. My teacher told me cold means to button up more because you don’t wanna get sick.” George and Dream both smile at their little princess gleefully sharing facts she has learned.
But soon enough George gives Dream a smirk and tells him “See even our daughter knows better than her idiot father now go inside and put on more clothes before you get sick. And then I have to take care of your ass because your Victorian-era even worse than a child’s immune system.”
Hearing her dad get all sassy with her other dad makes June laugh before she repeats a word George says which is “Ass!” Both George and Dream go stock still before looking at their little girl who has bright boba eyes like her father. Dream decides to take this one and tells her “Baby, uhm that’s not a word you should say. It’s an adult’s word.”
George joins with “Yeah! I can say it because I’m an adult! So, I have the ability to say swear words.” June hears this and ahhs in understanding before saying “Okay, I got it. No saying words that come out of daddy George when he’s next to uncle Sapnap.”
When Dream heard that he couldn't help but burst out laughing and when he could hold himself up enough, he high fives his little girl. Listening to Dream laugh started to make George begin to laugh as well and then all of the family is laughing at the pure joy they have together.
Soon enough Dream does end up putting on more layers. And once he does the three of them go into the town, they are visiting to select a real Christmas tree this year. This time though is special since June can pick it out herself! When they get into the lot June immediately goes around searching for the tree.
While her dads struggle trying to keep up with her or at least Dream is, what with his complaining about walking miles around this Christmas tree farm. All it does is make George roll his eyes in fondness with a wide smile on his face.
After going through the rows of Christmas trees a few times they finally found the perfect tree or at least it’s perfect for June. What with its semi drooping of its branches but it’s still beautiful all the same. As soon as they were back to the house, they put on some random Christmas music and randomly it just went to ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ by Taylor Swift.
When the music began to play that’s when they also began to get out the ornaments. Funnily enough the house they are staying in came with a plethora of colors in green, orange, and blue. When Dream and George saw this, they took a bunch of pictures sending them to Sapnap making fun of no matter where he is Sapnap will still be a part of the family.
As the text sends the idiots get back to putting up ornaments. They had a bunch of different kinds to regular baubles all the way to Santa’s reindeer. To which June insisted be put up in the correct ascending order that ended up taking a while since they were trying to remember it from the song alone. But they ended up looking it up to make sure anyway.
After the tree was decorated, they started to go around the living room decorating as much as they could. Even if they are starting to get tired they want to make sure their little girl has beautiful memories of Christmas no matter what. Throughout decorating though Dream does cough a few times and even starts to sneeze throughout the hours of decorating.
Dream tells George it's nothing and that he’s not feeling sick. But that is how George knows he’s going to have to take care of his big baby soon even if he warned Dream beforehand. Soon enough it's time for dinner and George decides he’ll cook today and makes a simple meal of whatever is in the fridge.
After dinner they settle down and watch some Christmas classics before June gets a bath and goes to bed. Leaving Dream and George up for a few more hours, they decided to cuddle next to the fireplace that was lit due to the cold temperatures outside.
While cuddling up they began to feel tired. They decide to go to bed with a few coughs here and there out of Dream. Before sleeping they, both say an “I love you” before their eyes drift to sleep.
George wakes up to a loud cough into a sneeze. Once the noise is done, he looks over to his side and decides to get up to go and check to see if June was also sick. Which she isn’t but asks “Is daddy sick again?” George responds with a “Yeah, he is so today let’s make him feel better! How about we try out that new soup recipe that grandma showed us?”
June shouts “Yippee! Grandma!” before realizing she should be quiet because of her dad sleeping still. George just chuckles and says it’s alright and they begin the process of making soup to eat for themselves. When it is cooking on the stove both decide to make cookies as well for the fun of it all.
With them getting flour everywhere with George knowing it’s going to be fucking terrible getting it out of June’s curly hair but it’s whatever. It’s Christmas, it is time for fun with loved ones and just in general!
Soon enough the soup is done and they allow it to cool before they attempt to wake the sleeping Dream. As they wait they decide to decorate the batch of sugar cookies they made during the wait. Putting all kinds of decorations and colors on it not leaving a single spot blank.
As they are finishing up the last cookie they hear a rustling noise before seeing Dream walking out of the bedroom. Still sleepy he sits in a chair right next to the dining table that is next to the kitchen. He also praises the two little bakers by saying “The cookies look and smell so good!”
The two then smile before George checks the soup and starts to pour 2 big bowls for himself and Dream then one smaller bowl for June. Dream begins to praise George again for the soup. Which gets only a shy smile before he says “Now eat up, idiot. You're gonna need as many things as you can get to battle that Victorian child immune system.”
Dream just shakes his head before June starts to talk about what she wants to do out in the snow. And that’s how it goes for the rest of the day, the little family just spending the day inside all comfy and cozy. While taking care of a sick Dream and trying not to get sick in the process.
Though for George that is not an easy feat since he still does end up sharing water bottles and things with Dream. Or ends up sharing some kind of fluids between each other leaving both sick. But that’s for the future Dream and George to deal with.
Right now, the three are comfortable just lazing around for the day. Knowing tomorrow will be a fun packed day full of sledding and other adventures June wants to be taken on. And one day they will look back on these days with wishes in their hearts to be taken back to that Christmas tree farm town.
Where the air was filled with magic and comfort. Where Dream tempted fate by not wearing proper snow clothes and all three of them spending time as a family. By playing in the snow and letting their wildest dreams come true.
