His dad, the Number two hero Dream, had signed him up to take on three heroes in training when he knew just how much he DIDN'T want to. I mean, there were already so many issues with the mere thought of it...
1: Tommy was only 16
2: Tommy never actually worked with others and was, quite frankly, dogshit at it
3: Tommy didn't want to watch them die when he ultimately failed
Icarus has only six months to train his interns and with each passing week, things start to change and get more dangerous for himself and his interns. Tommy doesn't even know if he can protect them while also protecting himself. With each passing month, Tommy seems to discover more about a hidden truth that seems to have been laying out in the open.
Or, hero Tommy becomes a teacher and learns that his entire life is a fucking lie

Summary
Dream is the first prisoner in Pandora's Vault. He never gets broken out.
Nearly a millennia later, the Warden of Pandora's Vault Prison has to venture into the cell of The First to do a repair job on some wiring. He has his doubts that the stories of the immortal prisoner are true, but his predecessors had always warned him not to open the main cell, or The First would kill them all and take over the world.
What the Warden finds when he finally enters the cell is NOT what he was expecting.
Or: Immortal Dream gets left to rot in pandora for nearly a thousand years, and when the descendants of the SMP have to open his cell, they decide the shriveled husk of a man they find doesn't deserve to spend another millennia locked up to suffer.

Basically- Dream, Puffy, George, and Sapnap (oh, and Tommy) used to all be on the same crew together years ago! Puffy was captain, Dream was second in command, George was the medic, and Sapnap was master gunner. but then a huge storm happened, wrecked their ship, and their crew was separated from each other. Tommy VAGUELY remembers part of all that, but has no idea about all of it.

Dream had overgrown dirty blond hair that, even over saturated with salty water, still fell in soft curls over his forehead and down around his ears. Lots of freckles. Like, a lot of freckles. Filling in the darkened skin under his eyes and tracing the lines of his pale shoulders. Pale broad shoulders. Striking green eyes. And a flipper. Yeah.
So George had – reasonably – freaked out a little as he not only accidentally pulled a man out of the water with his fishing line but immediately found out that said man was part fucking fish.
“I’m not part fish,” Dream said with a scoff. “I’m a sea monster. It’s not the same at all, really. I don’t even have gills.”

Purpled is forced to go to a boarding school. He doesn't want to. But Dream didn't give him a choice, so here he was, and roommates with the one and only Tommy Innit, who just happens to be a Summer.
He's trained himself to keep his Winter magic inside of him, but there comes a point when he just can't keep it inside. And of course Tommy had to witness it, because the annoying blonde couldn't leave well enough alone, especially when it came to Purpled.
But all of a sudden Purpled is forced to make a decision; either fight to keep the very powers he's tried to squish down, or lose them forever.
