Tommy loved being the second son. He was seventeen and wasn't expected to become king of the Empire, free to do what he liked, for the most part. He was well known in public for a free spirited child who seemingly got along with everyone. He constantly went out and visited public spaces, frustrating his personal guard to no end. However, nobody had ever attempted to hurt him before… until now.

Technoblade tilted his head, considering. Silence stretched between them. Then, with the certainty of someone stating a fact as simple as the sky being blue, he answered.
"You shine like the sun."
Tommy blinked. He let out a short, incredulous laugh—half-broken, half-breathless. "I’m literally the worst fucking person you could pick to care about."
"And yet, I do."

Tommy doesn’t have that many friends, and palace staff not included, he has none. It’s sort of depressing if he thinks about it for too long. If someone asks who his best friend is, he would have to say Technoblade. And that’s a bit pathetic, naming your older brother as your best friend. Not that he has anything against Techno. He loves his older brother, he really does, but he wishes he had regular friends like anyone else. People he could bond with like any other citizen.

Summary
Being the younger child, he had always known he wasn’t anywhere near as important as the crown prince, and that had, to some extent, been something he was grateful for, as much as it broke his heart to see the way they worked Technoblade to the bone. At least, when all was said and done, he wasn’t the one bearing the weight of their legacy on his shoulders, he wasn’t the one who would have to rule one day. There were advantages to being the youngest.
But here, apparently, was the f*cking massive downside. Being traded away like a pawn, given as a ‘guarantee’ in a peace treaty, as though he didn’t even matter. Tommy supposed that, deep down, he had always known he didn’t.
____________________Prince Tommy is traded away to King Philza as part of a peace treaty. He is certain he will be treated as a prisoner - a servant at best, a punching bag at worst. He just hopes Technoblade will find a way to forget all about him, the last thing he wants is for his older brother to feel guilty for being unable to keep him safe.

Summary
Techno was the cause of all his kingdom's tragedy. He had to be. He was cursed from birth and now they were all facing the consequences of keeping him.
Anyone placed in charge of his care always met a gruesome end, whether it was poison or trampling. So now he’s terrified. He’s so very scared because now it’s his uncle's turn to take care of him, the only member of his family who ever showed him any kindness at all.
His uncle Phil who fought for his place to even be crowned, saying that he wasn’t cursed because of his red eyes and pink hair. Uncle Phil who had a son and a loving wife already, ones who Techno desperately didn’t want to doom like he did every other caretaker.
So no matter how safe he felt with him, no matter how much he longed to run into his arms and have someone to take care of him again, he ran away.

None of them replied, but they did look enraptured with him. Like he was some kind of exotic animal in the zoo. He curled into the blanket as much as he could, wishing he could sink through the floor.
What were they even staring at?

“Seriously?” Techno exhales fondly. “Come here, Tommy,” the younger bounces towards him excitedly. “Let me teach you about taxes,” his brother quickly retreats.
“No, not that! Anything but that!” Tommy complains. “I want you to catch me. I'll run and hide while you try to catch me.”
