Work Text:

It was a rare day off for T1 and Gen.G, and Jihoon had convinced Sanghyeok to join him at a local theme park. The thought of spending an entire day without the pressure of practices or competition was a relief for the both of them. Jihoon knew it would be the perfect chance to have a romantic date with Sanghyeok, just the two of them. Jihoon couldn’t help but smile at the thought of what he planned ahead.

From the moment they entered the park, the magic of the day seemed to envelop them. The air was sweet with the scent of popcorn and cotton candy, and the sounds of laughter and the distant hum of roller coasters filled the air. Jihoon, who had always been a little more reserved, felt completely at ease with Sanghyeok by his side.

“So, where to first?” Jihoon asked, glancing around to the wide choice of attractions.

Sanghyeok grinned, the rare sight of a carefree smile spreading across his face. “How about we start with the Ferris wheel? It’ll give us a great view of the park.”

Jihoon raised an eyebrow but agreed, liking the idea of starting off slow. They made their way to the Ferris wheel, their hands brushing against each other every now and then, sending a familiar warmth through Jihoon’s chest. He wasn’t sure why today felt so different, but it did. The quiet moments with Sanghyeok felt like they had a weight to them, a feeling that Jihoon couldn’t easily describe.

As they got into the Ferris wheel cabin, Jihoon couldn’t help but glance at Sanghyeok’s relaxed posture. Sanghyeok had his usual cool demeanor, but there was something softer about him today, something that made Jihoon’s heart flutter in a way he didn’t expect. The wheel slowly ascended, and Jihoon looked out at the sprawling view below them. The park stretched out like a sea of twinkling lights, and the world seemed to slow down, just for them.

“This is nice,” Jihoon said, leaning against the window, his voice barely above a whisper.

Sanghyeok turned his head to meet Jihoon’s eyes, a genuine smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, it is.” He reached out, gently tugging Jihoon closer, wrapping his arm around his in a warm embrace. Jihoon froze for a moment at the unexpected closeness, but then relaxed into Sanghyeok’s side, the warmth of his presence filling the space between them.

The Ferris wheel stopped at the top for a few moments, the view taking Jihoon’s breath away. He felt a little lightheaded, but it wasn’t the height—it was the feeling of being with Sanghyeok in this small, private world. He turned his head slightly, catching Sanghyeok’s gaze. Their eyes met, and for a fleeting moment, the world around them disappeared. There was no T1, no games, no expectations. It was just the two of them, sharing a peaceful moment together.

Sanghyeok tilted his head slightly from where he was laying against Jihoon's shoulder, his voice low and soft. “I’m glad you asked me to come here with you.”

Jihoon smiled, his heart skipping a beat. “I’m glad you agreed.”

When they stepped off the Ferris wheel, they wandered through the park, enjoying the simple things like a sharing food, playing a few carnival games, and laughing at each other’s failed attempts to win stuffed animals. Jihoon watched as Sanghyeok tried his hand at the ring toss game, looking entirely too focused on it. He was completely immersed in the task, but there was something so charming about how seriously Sanghyeok took it.

As Sanghyeok leaned forward, his eyes narrowing with determination, Jihoon couldn't help but smile. He folded his arms, leaning casually against the game booth, watching every precise flick of Sanghyeok's wrist.

"You’re putting a lot of effort into this," Jihoon teased, his voice light but his gaze soft.

Sanghyeok didn’t respond immediately, focused on the ring in his hand. He took a deep breath before tossing it, the plastic ring wobbling through the air and landing just shy of the peg.

"Damn," Sanghyeok muttered under his breath, his lips curving in an unintentional pout.

Jihoon chuckled, stepping closer. "You look like you’re trying to solve a world crisis. It’s just a stuffed bear."

"But it reminds me of you," Sanghyeok said simply, glancing at Jihoon with an earnestness that caught him off guard. "And you said it looked cute."

For a moment, Jihoon forgot how to respond. He stared at Sanghyeok, feeling warmth bloom in his chest. It wasn’t about the bear—it was about the thoughtfulness behind the effort.

Sanghyeok tried again, and this time, the ring landed perfectly around the peg. The game operator clapped politely and handed over the oversized bear, which Sanghyeok immediately passed to Jihoon.

"There," Sanghyeok said with a quiet pride. "It’s yours now."

Jihoon accepted the bear, hiding his grin behind its soft, fluffy head. "Thanks, Sanghyeok."

Sanghyeok’s serious expression softened as they started walking again, Jihoon clutching the bear tightly. They didn’t need to say much, the unspoken understanding between them spoke volumes.

The moment felt so pure and innocent, like they were just two people, enjoying life and each other’s company.

After some time, they made their way to a quiet, tucked-away part of the park where a small pond lay surrounded by trees. A soft, twinkling light decorated the area, and small lanterns hung in the branches. It was almost magical.

“Do you want to take a break?” Jihoon asked, his voice soft as he gestured to a bench by the water.

Sanghyeok nodded, and they sat side by side. There was a comfortable silence between them, broken only by the gentle rustling of the trees in the evening breeze. Jihoon felt the warmth of Sanghyeok’s hand brush his as they both sat with their arms resting on the bench. Jihoon glanced over at Sanghyeok, who seemed completely content. His eyes were focused on the pond, but Jihoon caught a small smile tugging at his lips. Without thinking, Jihoon nudged his shoulder against Sanghyeok’s, a playful gesture, but also one of affection.

Sanghyeok looked over at him, raising an eyebrow, but the warmth in his gaze told Jihoon everything he needed to know. They didn’t need to say anything, it was enough to simply be here together, in this moment.

The night was falling quickly, and the lights of the park grew brighter. After their break, they decided to head to the restaurant, a cozy little spot located in a corner of the park. The atmosphere was intimate, with soft lighting and quiet music playing in the background. They shared a delicious meal, and as the evening progressed, the conversation became even more meaningful. They spoke about everything and anything—childhood memories, plans for the future, and even the small, silly things that made them laugh.

When they finished their meal, Jihoon suggested they take a few more photos before they left. Sanghyeok agreed, and they moved to a scenic area with a beautiful view of the park lit up in the distance.

“Okay, let’s make this one perfect,” Jihoon said, adjusting his camera.

Sanghyeok stood in front of him, his arms casually placed around Jihoon’s shoulders pulling him in, their foreheads touching. They smiled, but Jihoon couldn’t help but feel that this picture, this moment, was the one he would cherish the most. He snapped a few photos, then lowered the camera to check the results.

“Perfect,” Jihoon said softly, his eyes meeting Sanghyeok’s once more. The sincerity in his gaze made Sanghyeok’s smile widen, and without thinking, he leaned in and kissed Jihoon on the cheek.

Jihoon’s heart skipped a beat. “What was that for?” he asked, his voice a little shaky.

Sanghyeok just shrugged, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “Just because.”

The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter and quiet moments, and soon, they found themselves back at the comfort of their apartment. Jihoon sat down to look through their photos, reminiscing about their perfect day. But as he flipped through the images, his eyes widened in shock.

Every single picture had Genrang in it.

In one, it was sneakily poking its head into the frame as Sanghyeok held Jihoon close. In another, Genrang was perched in the background, almost as if it had been staged there to photobomb them. In yet another, it was sitting on the table behind them, like it had also followed them on their romantic dinner date.

“What the—?” Jihoon muttered, scrolling through the endless parade of Genrang photobombs.

His phone buzzed, and he opened a message from Doran: “Did you enjoy your date, Jihoon? Genrang sure did. #GenrangGang is proud of our work!”

Jihoon groaned, realizing that his boyfriend's teammates—Doran, Gumayusi, Keria, and Oner—had followed them around to make sure Genrang made a cameo in every single photo.

“Unbelievable,” Jihoon muttered, shaking his head. But despite his frustration, he couldn’t help but smile at how ridiculous it all was.

He glanced at Sanghyeok, who was watching him with an amused look. "Your teammates really went all out, huh?"

Sanghyeok laughed, clearly delighted by the prank.

------

It was supposed to be a simple prank. The plan was simple: make sure Genrang photobombed every photo Jihoon and Sanghyeok took on their romantic theme park date. But once the wheels were in motion, the mission became way more than that. It turned into a full-on operation, and they were all in on it. Of course without their Sanghyeok-hyung finding out.

Doran, Oner, Keria, Gumayusi—their roles were clear. As soon as they saw Jihoon and Sanghyeok step into the park, they started following them from a distance, staying hidden, but never too far behind. Their goal? To make sure Genrang showed up in every photo.

-----

As the Ferris wheel began its slow ascent, Jihoon and Sanghyeok seemed completely engrossed in their conversation. Doran, in the next capsule before them, adjusted his camera lens for the perfect angle.

“Target acquired,” he muttered into the walkie-talkie, his voice low and serious. “Bot team, is Genrang in position? Preparing to capture the moment.”

“Copy that, Agent Doran,” Keria’s voice crackled back. “Make it look natural. No room for error.”

Doran smirked, steadying his hands as he focused on the scene. The plushie had been strategically placed earlier, peeking innocently from the window of the next capsule behind the targets. With the vibrant lights of the ride glowing in the background, the scene was picture-perfect.

The first shot was flawless. Genrang was just noticeable enough to catch the eye without being too obvious.

“Mission success,” Doran whispered, grinning as he reviewed the photo.

“Nice work,” Oner’s voice chimed in. “The targets are still distracted. Move to phase two. They’re heading toward the carousel next.”

Doran quickly packed up his camera and slipped back into the shadows, ready to regroup with the others. The operation was far from over, and the team was determined to make this prank one for the books.

-----

As they continued through the park, Oner was in charge of keeping an eye on them, always one step ahead. Utilizing his expert map awareness skills, he managed to find spots where the two of them might stop to take pictures and made sure Genrang was strategically placed in the background. It wasn’t just about having the plushie appear in the shot-- it must look natural. Every time Jihoon and Sanghyeok posed for the camera, The placement team made sure Genrang was either behind them or peeking from the side, just enough to be noticeable, but not too obvious.

Oner watched through the lens of his binoculars from a distance, scanning the park like a hawk. His eyes flicked between Jihoon and Sanghyeok, who were casually strolling through the park, oblivious to the operation unfolding around them.

“This is Agent Oner,” he whispered into his walkie-talkie, speaking in his most calm, authoritative tone. “The targets are heading toward the ice cream stand. Proceed with placement.”

“Copy that, Agent Oner,” Guma's voice came through, “Genrang is on standby. I repeat, Genrang is on standby.”

Oner looked at the map he’d pulled up on his phone, his fingers swiping quickly to pinpoint their next move. He spotted a perfect spot—an old-fashioned carousel just ahead, surrounded by whimsical decorations. A perfect opportunity.

“They’re about to stop for pictures,” Oner reported, his eyes narrowed. “We need a perfect shot. Doran, get ready for deployment.”

Doran, who was crouched behind a nearby stall, gave a quick thumbs up. He was always quick on his feet. As Jihoon and Sanghyeok posed together in front of the carousel, Oner motioned for Keria to move in.

With impeccable timing, Keria slid Genrang onto one of the moving horse carriages behind them, just enough to be visible but not too obvious. The plushie sat, looking innocently at the camera, as if it had always been there.

Doran caught the perfect shot from his position, capturing Jihoon and Sanghyeok with Genrang peeking just over their shoulders. The composition was flawless, the lighting just right.

“Nice work,” Oner muttered to himself, sending the photo over to the group. “They won’t know what hit them.”

As they moved on to the next location, Oner’s mind raced ahead, already strategizing where the next photobomb would take place.

-----

Gumayusi crouched low behind a cluster of bushes near the pond, eyes narrowed as he surveyed Jihoon and Sanghyeok. They were sitting on a bench, talking casually, their attention focused on the peaceful water before them. The perfect moment had arrived.

“This is Agent Gumayusi,” he whispered into the walkie-talkie, his voice smooth and confident. “I’m in position. Prepare for the next deployment.”

“Understood, Agent Gumayusi,” Keria’s voice came back, almost a whisper. “Everything’s looking good on our end.”

Gumayusi, with the practiced ease of a shadow, slowly made his way toward the bench where Jihoon and Sanghyeok were sitting. Genrang, disguised under a hoodie for added stealth, was securely tucked under his arm.

As he neared the bench, he expertly positioned the plushie on the seat next to the couple, adjusting it just enough so that it blended into the scene. It wasn’t too obvious, but it was in the perfect spot to be captured in the background of any photo. A subtle glance at Genrang revealed that it was just peeking out behind them, almost as if it had been waiting for this moment all along.

Gumayusi checked his angle, ensuring that the plushie would be visible but not too out of place. He snapped a quick picture, then shifted slightly to get a different perspective. He wasn’t about to leave anything to chance.

Satisfied, he quickly tucked his camera away and took a few steps back, giving the couple time to settle back into their conversation. He watched, a grin spreading across his face as he saw Jihoon glance over on the bench, his brow furrowing slightly.

“I swear, I feel like im being followed” Jihoon muttered, shaking his head in disbelief, but Sanghyeok just laughed.

"Maybe it’s your new stalker," Sanghyeok teased, nudging him.

Gumayusi’s eyes darted nervously between Jihoon and Sanghyeok, who were now both actively scanning the area. Jihoon’s suspicion was growing with each passing moment, and if they didn’t act fast, the entire operation would unravel. He needed a distraction—something to pull their attention away from the plushie before they figured out what was really going on.

He quickly grabbed his walkie-talkie, his voice urgent but composed.

“This is Agent Gumayusi,” he said, his eyes glued to Jihoon and Sanghyeok as they shifted uncomfortably, clearly unsettled. “Requesting immediate distraction. We need to draw their attention away from Genrang, or this whole thing’s blown.”

A beat of silence followed, and then Keria’s voice came through with a cool, collected response. “Understood, Agent Gumayusi. Doran, you're up. Prepare for distraction.”

“Copy that,” came Doran’s voice, his tone already laced with mischief. “I’ve got this.”

From behind a nearby stall, Doran peeked out, spotting a group of children heading toward the bumper cars. He grinned, eyes lighting up as an idea struck him. Without missing a beat, he casually approached the group, loudly asking the attendant if he could borrow one of the bumper cars. The attendant, a little confused but willing to oblige, handed him the keys.

Doran hopped into one of the cars, revved the engine a little too dramatically, and zoomed past the area where Jihoon and Sanghyeok were sitting.

“Look out!” Doran yelled at the top of his lungs, narrowly missing a parked cart and swerving in a comically exaggerated fashion.

Sanghyeok and Jihoon both whipped around in alarm at the sound, eyes widening as they watched the chaos unfold.

“What the—?!” Jihoon started, but before he could finish, Doran screeched to a halt, skidding to a stop just in front of the fountain, making a show of clutching the steering wheel in fake terror.

“Phew! That was close,” Doran shouted, grinning wildly at the confused onlookers. “I’m a terrible driver!”

The scene had exactly the effect they needed. Jihoon and Sanghyeok were momentarily distracted, their attention completely diverted as they watched Doran’s ridiculous antics. They couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all, their suspicions momentarily forgotten.

“Perfect,” Gumayusi whispered into his walkie-talkie, watching them laugh. “Now’s our chance. Team, get ready for extraction.”

With Jihoon and Sanghyeok’s attention fully on the distraction, Gumayusi quickly moved, slipping away to retrieve Genrang and execute the next phase of the operation.

Doran, still pretending to be clueless, waved at the crowd and dramatically handed the bumper car keys back to the attendant, all the while making exaggerated gestures as if the whole thing had been a big accident.

“Good job, Doran,” Minhyung whispered into his mic, his grin wide. “You really know how to steal the show.”

As the team slipped into the shadows, they watched as Jihoon and Sanghyeok, now in high spirits, returned to their original path, unaware of the plushie that had been present in nearly every photo taken that day. The distraction had worked perfectly.

“We’re clear,” Keria said, “Extraction complete. Let’s get out of here before they figure it out.”

-----

Keria, perched on a ledge overlooking the restaurant’s outdoor patio, watched intently as Jihoon and Sanghyeok sat down for their dinner. His mind raced through the final steps of the plan. It had been a long day of sneaky maneuvers and calculated shots, but this—this was the moment they’d been waiting for.

“Alright, team,” he whispered into the walkie-talkie, his tone a perfect mix of control and excitement. “It’s time for the final strike. Genrang is going to make his grand entrance.”

From their hidden positions around the patio, Doran, Oner, and Gumayusi all gave their quiet affirmations, eyes fixed on the couple, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

“I’ve got eyes on the targets,” Oner’s voice came through first. “They’re laughing. Genrang has to be in the background at just the right angle. No pressure.”

“We’ve done this a ton of times today,” Doran muttered, barely holding in his excitement. “But this one has to be perfect.”

“Remember, subtlety is key,” Keria reminded them. “We don’t want to make them suspicious when we are this close to finishing. Just let Genrang blend in and be the natural photobomber he was born to be.”

The wait was agonizing, each second stretching as Jihoon and Sanghyeok enjoyed their dinner, unaware of the orchestrated chaos unfolding around them. Finally, as the perfect moment arrived—when they both leaned in for a selfie—Keria made his move.

“Deploy Genrang now.” he whispered with a grin.

With practiced ease, Gumayusi disguised as a waiter, walked past behind the targets’ table and gently placed Genrang on the chair behind them. The plushie settled into its new spot, its eyes innocently gazing toward the camera. It looked so natural, so unassuming, that anyone would think it had been there all along.

Keria snapped a photo from his vantage point, his heart racing with excitement.

“Mission complete,” he said, sending the shot over to Sanghyeok’s phone. “We’ve done it. Time to watch the chaos unfold.”

Back at the restaurant, Jihoon and Sanghyeok smiled at the camera as they posed for the perfect picture, completely oblivious to the sneaky plushie in the background.

Meanwhile, the prank team, hidden behind bushes and trees in their various spots, couldn’t contain their laughter any longer. The operation had been a complete success, and they all celebrated in their own quiet way, sharing a moment of triumph.

“This is way too good,” Doran chuckled under his breath. “They have no idea.”

“It’s beautiful,” Oner said, his grin wide. “Genrang has officially photobombed their whole date.”

From their safe vantage point, the team reveled in their success, knowing they had pulled off the ultimate prank—one that Jihoon and Sanghyeok would never forget.

-----

Finally, when the night came to a close and when they got back to their rooms in the T1 dorms, they decided to have Hyeonjun-hyung send a message to Jihoon-hyung once they were sure they are already home via Sanghyeok-hyung messaging the team group chat of course.

“Okay, so what are we telling Jihoon-hyung?” Ojunnie asked, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall.

“We should make it sound like we’re not teasing him,” Minhyung suggested, but the grin on his face betrayed him. “You know, keep it subtle.”

“Subtle?” Minseok scoffed, flopping into a chair. “When are we ever subtle? Just tell him straight up, ‘Genrang had a great date with Jihoon-hyung.’”

Hyeonjun-hyung shook his head, looking unimpressed. “No way. That’s so obvious. He’ll know we’re messing with him.”

“That’s the point,” Minseok shot back. “It’s supposed to annoy him.”

Ojunnie rubbed his temples. “Why don’t we just say something like, ‘Genrang looks happy. Must’ve been a good day.’”

“That’s boring,” Minhyung chimed in. “We need something with flair, like, ‘Did you enjoy your date? Genrang sure did.’”

Minseok laughed, clapping his hands. “That’s perfect. It’s teasing, but not too much. Let’s go with that.”

“Wait,” Hyeonjun-hyung said, holding up a hand. “What if we add something about Sanghyeok-hyung? Like, ‘Sanghyeok-hyung and Genrang make a great couple.’”

Everyone groaned in unison, and Minhyung threw a pillow at Hyeonjun-hyung. “Too much, man. We’re trying to annoy Jihoon-hyung, not start a war.”

After a few more minutes of chaotic debating, they finally settled on Minhyung's suggestion. Ojunnie grabbed Hyeonjun-hyung’s phone and typed out the message:

"Did you enjoy your date? Genrang sure did."

As the message sent, they all leaned back, looking smug.

“You think Jihoon-hyung will respond?” Hyeonjun-hyung asked, tossing Genrang to Minhyung.

“Oh, he’ll respond,” Minseok said with a sly grin. “And when he does, it’s going to be hilarious.”

Minhyung hugged Genrang dramatically. “I just hope Jihoon-hyung doesn’t get too jealous of Genrang. They really bonded today.”

The room erupted in laughter, their teasing carrying on late into the night.

Their mission was complete: Team Genrang had won.
