Summary
When Morris and his sister, Jia, were in the same place, bad things happened. It was as simple as that. The two were bundles of volatile disdain, and when the two had to be close to one another, bad things happened. It hadn't always been that way, though it pained Morris to remember that. Before all the bitterness and cold stares, they had been inseparable. Both had one true friend, and it had been each other.
That was before he had watched his sister wither away on a hospital bed, barely clinging to life. That was before his parents had divorced, and the two of them had been dragged to two ends of the world. That was before the pale scar that ran down Jia's arm. Now they could barely look at one another.
When Morris's parents decided to try and fix their broken family, he already knew the inevitable. He and his sister would be under the same roof again, and bad things would happen. However, when the fatal day of their parents reunion finally arrived, the events that unfolded were far beyond that of which he could have imagined. Whether he liked it or not, all that he knew about his family and himself were about to be turned on their head, and the sister he so despised may well be his last source of refuge.
