Alex arranged the 12 clementines in a row and spread the chocolate coins around the arrangements. He fixed his Bumblebee polka dot shirt as he heard Dot approach, little Robbie on her hip.
"Coins!" Robbie squealed.
"Yes, coins. But not for now, for later, sweetie," Dot said in her mom-mander voice.
Robbie giggles and nuzzled against her shoulder.
"He's full of energy. I don't think one coin from the Media Noche will hurt, " Alex said, picking one up.
Dot hummed as he opened the foil and handed the chocolate treat to Robbie.
"Good thing he hasn't brushed his teeth," Dot said.
Alex grinned and opened two more for the both of them.
"When's our guest coming?" He asked.
Dot hummed again, putting Robbie on the ground to explore. He went toward his Christmas gift of a Bumblebee themed riding car toy. Alex could start getting him on the Bumblebee train early.
Dot shrugged. "He may not come. We're not exactly in a fly safe zone, despite being out of the city for your tita."
Alex did agree. His old tita was on an elderly singles cruise with her girlfriends and let them use her house for the holidays. It was nice to be out in the woods and not stuck in their small apartment back in Philly, but the house was close to the highway and a large shopping center. Not quite remote for their guest.
Dot sat out on the porch. Alex was putting Robbie to bed. They celebrated New Year's using the Philippines hour so Robbie did not feel left out because of bedtime. It was in America only 9pm. Darkness traced the landscape. In the distance, Dot could see the lights of the highway. The quiet and stars made her ache for this. A quiet life for her family and a place for her babies to explore without worrying about traffic or buildings falling.
She could live here like this.
A helicopter passed. Dot smirked. Right on time.
She leaned in the lounge chair as she watched Megatron transform and land on his feet. In his hands was a tiny basket.
Dot quirked her brow.
"I understand it is...customary for the guests to bring something..." He said.
Dot chuckled lightly.
"Not always. I do welcome, uh, what is it?"
In his hand it was tiny, but placing it on the porch it was a huge gift basket with wines, cheeses, preserves, cookies.
Dot mouth dropped.
"This is Henry and Daniel holidays ultimate set! How..oh, Megatron this is too much," Dot said, looking up at her friend.
Megatron turned away.
"I was told that expensive gifts are acceptable for Christmas Eve," he said.
Dot was about to ask but then Alex came out with their grocery store champagne.
"WOAH! That looks good. Thank you, Megatron."
The time divulged into talking about current events, such as the new agency they would be with, where the Autobots new base would be located, how the faux energon was producing.
By the tick of midnight, Dot and Alex shared their kiss and he went inside to get the fruits.
"Human celebrations are widely unknown to me," Megatron said. "I've been a resident for a vorn and to me, these holidays are inconsistent."
"Inconsistent?" Dot said.
"Humans have them yearly and yet in the 60 years I have been aware of the names the traditions appear to be ever-changing. I forget too there are two eves for this time of year," Megatron admitted.
Dot smiled and patted his leg.
"We must be so fast for you guys. To me, every year is a long run. I can't believe how long we've been friends and yet, it's only been a few years," Dot finishes. "Does Iron Hide still watch you like a hawk?"
"To be expected. He is one of the oldest warriors and still remembers our home before the corruption. He is right to be weary of me,"he replied.
" Guess it will take time for them to fully trust you, " she said.
"I have betrayed my fellow brethren and essentially joined with our enemies. The fact I still function is a baffling conundrum."
They were quiet for a while, both in their own head. Worries for the future.
"This is my first New Year's Eve, erm, New Year's Day or Night," Megatron said.
Dot nodded. "Happy you came," she said, leaning against his leg. Fireworks continued for several minutes as they watch the New Year moon, unaware of Alex's camera taking pictures.
