Hunting & Gathering

Summary:

terueden week day one - nature

Notes:

I almost used their warrior names but that would have been confusing and I don't have one for Eden

It's been so long since I've read Warrior Cats

Work Text:

Eden slinks under a fern, keeping her paw steps light. She never knew if something was watching and waiting for an opportunity to attack. The watermint she held between her jaws overwhelmed her sense of smell and taste, so she had to use everything else she had– hearing, sight, and touch. Luckily, cats had a great sense of hearing.

Eden freezes as a twig snaps, but after a moment of assessing her situation, Eden learns it is just her. Her ear twitched in annoyance. You have to be more careful.

Unfortunately, some leaves crunch somewhere behind her. Eden breaks into a run, but she's too slow. Her assailant has the skill of a trained warrior– and then some.

Eden turns onto her back, but her attacker is expecting it. She presses a paw to Eden’s chest so she can't move. Eden spits the watermint in her face, but Teruko only laughs, “I thought Medicine Cats went through battle training.”

Eden rolls her eyes playfully, “You trained me. Get off, mousebreath.”

Teruko backs off with a chuckle. She gathers the watermint into a pile. “We haven't seen each other in a while. How have you been, Eden?”

“We're both very busy,” Eden reminds her gently. She shakes dirt off her pelt before twisting to clean the fur on her back. After she's satisfied, she turns to Teruko, eyes shining, “I missed you, too.”
