Till hums along to the song playing in his headphones. He thinks it sounds familiar but he doesn’t pay too much attention. Anything Mizi creates is good to Till.
He sits alone on a bench under a tree behind his school eating his lunch. His mom packed him some dinner leftovers from the night before. An extra packed lunch sits comfortably in his bag as he waits for his other half.
“Oh my Clematis, hope withered in the abyss-“
One side of his headphones is suddenly lifted away from his ear.
“Are you listening to the new album?” He looks up to see the person he was waiting for.
“Ivan-“ The boy takes his phone to see the song that had just finished.
“Oh, ‘My Clematis?’ I liked this one.”
“It was good, right?! It sounds like it’s written for someone. Mizi’s has a way with words when it comes to her lyrics but it sounds like a song that was meant to have a duet, I wonder if we’ll get a collab version!” Ivan gave him a shocked look before laughing.
“It's obvious isn’t it? If only she thought the same..” Ivan mumbled that last part to himself, quiet enough so that Till couldn’t hear.
“It’s a little hopeful but in the end it seems like it takes a sorrowful turn. Like she lost the thing that gave her her hope I mean that’s quite literally the lyrics but-“ Till continued to ramble about the song as Ivan listened.
“Oh wait, Mom packed lunch for you, some leftovers we had. She said she’d pack you a separate one so you’d stop stealing from mine.” Till didn’t miss the way Ivan’s eyes lit up and chuckled a bit pulling the packed lunch out for him.
They sit and chat about the album and other things a little more before Ivan suddenly stops with a gasp.
“I almost forgot! Remember that Mizi photocard you wanted but didn’t get from her collab single with Luka?” Till’s face twisted at that, he had gotten the Luka photocard instead and couldn’t buy a new one because they were always out of stock.
“Well— I asked a friend of mine if she had one to spare and she did!”
There in Ivan's hand, placed in a cute pink decorated photocard holder was the Ruler of My Heart Mizi photocard. Ivan could practically see the stars in Till's eyes.
“Oh and before you ask because I know you’d freak if I didn’t, there is a protective sleeve-“ Tills lips on his is what shuts him up and he happily leans in to reciprocate.
Till pulls away the photocard now in his hand. “Holy shit I love you so much you don’t even know!”
“Are you talking to me or the photocard?” Ivan teases and Till gives him a look
“Is this the same friend who gave you The Devil Mizi photocard?!” Ivan nods
“You have to let me meet them!!” Ivan shakes his head and Till groans a bit “Why not?”
“She’s busy doing other stuff haha! She mailed this to me and it just arrived yesterday when I got home from after dinner with you and your mom. I’ll try to organize a hangout together when she’s in town again.”
Till seemed pleased with that reasoning so he went back to fawning over the photocard. Ivan let out a quiet sigh of relief. As much as he’d like for Till to meet his friend. He wasn’t really sure if the boy could handle his personal dealer being the idol herself.
Yes, The beloved idol, Mizi Shine, was the one to provide Ivan with merch to give Till. He doesn’t do it all the time, just when Till misses out on something he really wants. Mizi is his best friend. They've known each other since Ivan was in diapers and she loved him like her own brother. Their friendship is kept private on Ivan’s part because it needs to be. Not for their safety but for the situation that has been at hand before Till came into his life.
He couldn’t tell Till ‘My Clematis’ was written for his own sister, Sua. The one who’s gone off to college instead of following her dream to become an Idol with her former best friend and lover. A dream which Mizi also had and still does.
She also loves Till, he may not know it but Mizi is the only one Ivan talks to about Till. Sua doesn’t really like Till, actually she probably hates him due to his obsession with Mizi.
It doesn’t help that the first time Till and Sua met, She had come to visit during her school's winter break and Till ended up spending the night. He had said if Mizi had any exes they definitely don’t know what they lost during one of his rants on how beautiful she was and Sua left the room.
Till didn’t pay any mind and Ivan was left in an awkward situation where he felt bad for his sister but also enjoyed all the silly things his boyfriend was saying about the idol.
He can only imagine what Till would do to Sua if he found out their history and how it ended. So for the sake of his best friend and sister, he has to keep everything a secret from Till. This is the one thing he won’t tell the boy.
“Do you want to come over and listen to the album with me?”
“Of course I do.”
It’s tradition at this point, Mizi drops a new album or single and Till doesn’t stop playing it on loop until she drops another or when he misses his other music. He also takes time to memorize the choreography in the music video and sometimes he makes Ivan participate which he has to pretend he doesn’t already know since Mizi tends to ask him for advice.
But this time Mizi’s music video didn’t have choreography and was rather telling a story. It’s for Ivan’s personal favorite song ‘Black Sorrow.’ But Till won’t know that until it drops later in the week.
“Holy shit! Ivan, look, LOOK!” Ivan flinches back slightly as Till shoves his phone in his face.
When Ivan is able to push the phone back slightly there on Till’s screen is a tweet from none other than his beloved best friend.
He only reads the words Mizi and tour before he feels his stomach drop.
“Mizi is going on tour and she’s coming to our city first, holy shit!” Tills was basically glowing with how wide his smile was, “We have to go Ivan!”
“When?”
“Next month! For a whole two weeks she’ll be here!”
And as if that wasn’t proof enough the message from Mizi on his phone saying ‘Did he show you yet?? I bet he did hehe, See you soon Navi (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶) !!’ was all he needed.
He had very mixed emotions about this, He wonders if Sua had found out yet. She probably has actually but won’t say anything unless he says something. This would be her first ever tour so the first time she’ll be in her hometown since debuting as an idol.
Ivan could feel a headache coming in. He was definitely not ready for what was to come.
