The Fontainian theater is known for many elegant shows, but none of them is as spectacular as Lyney and Lynette's magic show. The duo were practicing their special sets of magic tricks to prepare for their next show, set to start in an hour.
"Lynette! Check out this neat trick!" Lyney shouted at Lynette, who was standing at the opposite side of the stage.
"Hm?" she glanced at Lyney, wondering what antics her brother was up to now.
Lyney tossed his hat up in the sky, playing cards gushing out of it like a fountain as it falls to the ground.
"That was... something." Lynette noted, tidying her ribbons.
"Of course it was something! The greatest magician in all of Teyvat never fails to bring something wonderous to the audience! Do you think that trick can be preformed at the next show?" Lyney proudly bowed to the empty seats.
Lynette shrugged slightly, "You already know you are the one doing the preforming. Shouldn't you decide your own performance?"
Lyney chuckled, "I know! However, you are my assistant after all! You should know what's best for the audience!"
Lynette glanced at Lyney's hat, which was still on the ground. Lyney followed Lynette's gaze down.
"Ah." Lyney nodded, picking up his hat and dusting it.
He patted the top gently, making sure all of the playing cards were dumped out. He flicked it a couple times for good measure. Lynette looked over at Lyney.
A huge group of black and rounded creatures spawned in the hat and was proceeding to flood out of it.
"Ah!" Lyney jumped in shock, dropping the hat on the ground, which only resulted in more of those fat creatures to rush out.
Lynette rushed over to Lyney to see the summoned creatures up close.
All of the creatures were round and plump, with short black feathers and a curvy body. Their legs were long and skinny, which was a huge contrast from their big feet. At this point in time, there were well over a hundred of those things running around the theater.
Lyney gasped, "What..."
Lynette grumbled, "You better find a way to solve this or the next show will be cancelled."
Lyney scrambled to pick up his hat, which was still generating tens of those plump specimens.
"I can't get it to stop!" he said, violently shaking the hat as more of the creatures flooded out.
Lynette looked over to the seating area of the theater, which was practically now overrun by those tiny things.
Lyney grumbled as he continue to shake the hat, hoping for the stream to end. After a short while, it finally ended. However, they still had the creatures to deal with.
"There might be at least a thousand of them... how did I even do that in the first place?" he mumbled, taking in the sight of the scurrying birds.
"We've still got a good 45 minutes before the show starts. Let's make this quick." Lynette added.
"How though? How do we even get rid of them in the first place? There's no way we can let them run free on the streets, Monsieur Neuvillette will surely deliver a harsh punishment. One that I don't even think Father can save us from." Lyney sighed, almost accepting defeat.
There was a loud banging on one of the nearby windows.
Lyney and Lynette glanced over to the window, hoping that it wasn't Neuvillette or frankly anyone that could get them in trouble. To their relief, it was only Aether.
Lynette stealthily avoided the dozens of birds to open the window, letting Aether inside.
"What in Teyvat happened in here.." Aether pointed out, looking down at the birds brushing against his boots.
Lynette glared at Lyney, "My stupid brother accidentally conjured a magic trick with his hat. And now the theater is overrun by these birds."
Lyney huffed, "Hey! It was purely accidental! Anyways, Aether, can you help us find a way to get rid of these things? Our next magic show is in..."
"40 minutes." Lynette continued.
Aether contemplated about helping them both because he had his own plans to do.
"Well, I have to meet up with Paimon in a bit to eat a bit of pastries... and then stroll around Fontaine. This day is supposed to give me a break." he sighed.
Lyney pleaded, "Come on! We'll invite you to our next show... free of charge! Only if you help us get rid of these creatures!"
Lynette nodded along.
"Hm... that's not enough." Aether smirked, trying to get a good deal out of this situation.
"...Fine! Free of charge forever! You won't have to pay for our shows... ever! Better?" Lyney added.
Aether agreed, now satisfied.
"So do you two have any idea of what to do?" Aether asked, treading slowly with Lynette to the less runover stage.
Both Lynette and Lyney sighed, shaking their heads.
"If only Timmie was here, he would've knew what to do." Aether muttered under his breath, not expecting anyone to hear him.
"Who's Timmie?" Lynette questioned, her cat ears perking up.
Aether completely forgot about Lynette's feline-like features.
"Timmie is a kid in Mondstadt. He's a simple caretaker of the pigeons on the bridge." Aether answered.
"Can that Timmie kid solve this issue for us?" Lyney pitched in.
Lynette shook her head disappointedly, "Lyney, this is Fontaine. Timmie is in Mondstadt."
The many birds kept scrambling over the theater floors, some even climbing up onto the chairs to settle themselves in.
Lyney groaned, "We'll never solve this issue in time!"
Aether thought about it for a moment, before asking, "Lynette, you have an Anemo vision, right?"
Lynette nodded, now curious of Aether's thought.
"We can try to use the Anemo power to glide the pukeko over to Mondstadt." Aether suggested.
Lyney chimed in, "And I can preform a couple wind tricks-"
"Lyney. No more magic tricks for now." Lynette glared at him.
Lyney grumbled.
Lynette turned to look at Aether again, "That might work. Let's just hope my strength is enough."
"Don't worry. I'll be joining in too." Aether smiled.
Lynette nodded back, glancing over at the open window.
Lynette and Aether then proceeded to concentrate on using their Anemo abilities to glide all of the pukeko out of the window. It took a bit of strength, but Lyney cheered them on verbally. After a couple minutes, all of the pukeko have flown out the window and are now beginning their journey to Mondstadt. The theater was empty again, with only Lyney, Lynette, and Aether remaining.
"I mean, that worked." Aether chuckled.
"We did it!" Lyney joyfully cheered.
"We? I remember you being the one who caused this." Lynette teased him playfully.
"It was an accident!" Lyney grumbled, though not with any feelings of anger or resentment.
All three of them were just glad they got the issue fixed.
"Well, we've still got a good 20 minutes left." Lyney mentioned.
"Try not to cause any more of that madness, accident or not." Lynette warned.
"I know!" Lyney quickly added on.
Aether chuckled, "I'll get going to Paimon then. See you two soon."
Lynette and Lyney bowed, with Lyney remembering something.
"Remember! All of our next shows in a lifetime are free of charge to you! So come back anytime! Thanks again!"
Aether nodded, waving goodbye as he left the theater, feeling accomplished and a new story to tell to Paimon.
Lyney and Lynette looked at each other.
"Well?" Lynette asked.
"Let's get back to rehearsing." Lyney excitingly said.
Lynette stopped him from continuing to do anything.
"What is it now?" Lyney groaned.
Lynette pointed to the theater seating area, which was nearly covered in black feathers from the incident.
"You caused it, so get cleaning." Lynette hummed.
Lyney sighed as he got off the stage to hurriedly sweep the place clean, with 15 minutes until the show begins.
When the show officially began, Lyney and Lynette noticed the theater being more crowded than usual. When investigating why, they found out that word spread when three citizens saw the thousand pukeko flying out of the window, causing the show to gain a lot of traction and attention as a result of curiosity and fascination. So maybe that whole ordeal wasn't that bad after all, which may have sparked a couple more ideas into Lyney's head.
Of course, the show went as smoothly and perfectly as it always was and will be.
Meanwhile, in Mondstadt, little Timmie was feeding the pigeons on the bridge again when he noticed a huge gray-blackish cloud heading towards him from the distance.
"What is that...?" he squinted his eyes.
When the pukeko swarm got closer, Timmie only had feelings of joy and happiness when he realized it was all birds.
The thousand pukeko crowd flooded the bridge alongside the pigeons, which made Timmie have a ton of dopamine rush into his brain.
"Oh my Barbatos... this is a miracle come true! Now I'll never have to fear wasting feed!" he squealed.
"If only my dad could see me now..." he sighed, before proceeding to start feeding the hungry pukeko and the original pigeons.
Ah, perfect. Both sides of the party get their good ending, now the pukeko infestation is Mondstadt's problem. As long as Timmie is happy, we'll be fine. And so, the story of the pukeko flood ends here.
DAMN!!!!!!
