Chapter Text

In a hospital room were three people: an older man with a monocle and gray hair sitting on a chair next to a small table; a younger man with dark hair and yellowish eyes sat beside a bed where the last person sat: a young woman with long blond hair and deep blue eyes. All three smiled at a small bundle in the woman's arms.

Both the young woman and the young man shed tears of joy upon seeing the bundle. Have you already decided on a name? the older man asked the pair, and they exchanged glances for a few moments. With a big, soft smile, the woman nodded and looked at the older man. Denki. His name should be Ryuro Denki. After speaking, she looked back down at the bundle in her arms, where, upon closer inspection, a small sleeping baby could be seen nestled inside.

What a beautiful name for a beautiful grandson. I am proud of you, Kioko dear, and of your husband too, of course. I am sure you two will be great parents. With a smile, the older man stood from the chair at the table and approached the new parents to admire his new grandson. He will be a good kid with you as his parents. Gently, he patted the small boy on the head and then turned toward the younger man. Hoshi, make sure that you take good care of my daughter and little Denki.

The young man, Hoshi, saluted as if he were in the military as he replied, Yes, Ryoru-san, I will take excellent care of Kioko and Denki. His wife let out an amused chuckle, and even Ryoru looked amused. How many times do I need to tell you to just call me Hirotsu? You are part of the family after all. Well, I have to go now, so Kioko, remember not to overwork yourself. If you need anything, just call, and I will help you.

Amused, Kioko rolled her eyes at her father. Of course, Otou-san, I will not overwork myself, and we will call if we need anything, I promise. Hoshi nodded in agreement. Yeah, don't worry, I'll make sure that Kioko rests and doesn't do any heavy work. You can trust me to keep her out of any heavy work. Hoshi gave Hirotsu a thumbs up to reassure him that Kioko would be alright.

I know; otherwise, I wouldn't have let her marry you. Now, bye, Kioko and Hoshi, and bye, little Denki. Hirotsu bowed down to give Kioko a small kiss on the forehead and gave little Denki another careful pat on the head. He then stood up straight again and turned his back to the pair and their child as he walked out of the room.

The couple watched Hirotsu for a few minutes and then smiled back down at little Denki. Otou-san is right; he is a beautiful boy. I am sure he will be just like you: a little clumsy, but lovely and trustworthy. Kioko smiled back at her husband. She was truly happy to have such a wonderful husband and to have a son with him; she had always wanted to have a little family like that, and now her dream had come true.

I am sure he will also be like you: dangerous with a sharp mind but also forgetful at times. Hoshi smiled back at his wife and allowed her to lean her head on his shoulder as he moved even closer to the bed and played with her hair.

Hoshi was just as happy as Kioko to have Denki now; he was also glad that Hirotsu didn't kill him after discovering that his daughter was pregnant. For a few weeks after hearing the great news, Hoshi had feared that his father-in-law would be furious and send his whole squad to eliminate him, but fortunately, Hirotsu was just as happy to hear the news and even helped them acquire everything a baby needs, supporting them from the beginning up until now, where little Denki was there.

Kioko and Hoshi remained silent after that, having already planned what they would all do with Denki to show him how much they loved him.

Notes:

Though this chapter is brief, I envisioned it as a prologue to introduce Denki's parents and their perspectives on him.

I hope you don’t view this initial chapter of the backstory series negatively simply because it is shorter than usual.

Thank you for reading, and we hope you enjoyed the chapter. Wishing you a wonderful day, afternoon, or night!
