Summary
On the roof of the neighboring building, someone waved at her—a person, alive. A rifle steady in their hands, a silent promise of precision. She wasn’t about to gamble on their intentions.
“Wait!” the stranger hissed sharply. “Don’t be stupid!”
But she always was, and wasn’t going to stop now.
Adrenaline blurred her vision. The stranger shouted, their voice lost in the chaos as she blindly stumbled between the tall grass and weeds. A faint picture of a street flashed between the plants, but she didn’t make it. She was tackled to the ground.
“Please don’t hurt me–” she blurred out, but a hand firmly pressed her mouth shut, the wound on her chin stinging. Pleading and panicking, she gazed at the assailant.
Just a young, Asian guy with kind eyes. His grip was strong, but not forceful.
“You're running straight into a horde, dumbass!” he hissed, staring into her eyes for a moment.
