Chapter 1: An Opening Crawl

Chapter Text

There is a place where the greatest pop culture franchises of film, television, and video games coexist. Larino is a watery planet with islands that are home to the many different Pop Culture franchises. Some islands like New York City are home to many different heroes and villains. Legends is the story of 7 random people who became friends, went on many adventures, and changed their world together.

Chapter 2: Who are the Legends

Summary:

A place to get info about the new and original protagonists of the Legends story.

Chapter Text

The Legends of Larino are the protagonists of this story and consist of 7 individuals who are mostly new characters. Each of them represent a different Pop Culture franchise mostly through connections to the major characters from their respective franchises. Each Legend is based on either me, my brothers, or our childhood friends which also led me to call the world of this story Larino, since it combines our two last names.

Samuel “Sam” McFly: A 21 year old male from Hill Valley who is the leader of the Legends. Sam is the son of Marty and Jennifer McFly from Back to the Future while also being the godson of Doctor Emmett Brown. Sam has a passion for exploring and learning about new things which made him become a traveling journalist. Sam’s overall story deals with finding purpose, his desire to be heroic, and confronting past regrets like breaking up with his ex-girlfriend. Sam’s two inspirations/mentors are Superman and Indiana Jones who influence his heroic mentality and sense of adventure/exploration which leads him to wear a Superman T-Shirt and a Fedora that was gifted to him by the famous archaeologist.

Jai: A 16 year old male from the Water Tribe who is the waterbender of the Legends. Jai is the student of Master Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender and is best friends with Kiyi, Zuko’s secret sister who was introduced in the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics. Jai has a passion for vehicles that can travel via land which made him interested in seeing the other islands of Larino. Jai’s overall story focuses on becoming a man out of time and being separated from Kiyi. Jai’s inspirations/mentors are Avatar Aang and Sokka who influence his comedic abilities/somber feelings and his water tribe outfit with white arrows on it.

Luke Lars: An 18 year old male from London who is the wizard of the Legends. Luke studies at the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry despite only starting in his fifth year while having secret abilities in ancient magic similar to the protagonist of the Hogwarts Legacy video game. Luke has a passion for american things which continues to feed into his feelings of being out of place. Luke’s overall story deals with feelings of not having a place in the world and developing a strange yet happy romance with the pirate B Jenet from Fatal Fury. Luke’s inspirations/mentors are Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Legacy Protagonist which influence Luke’s mentality, outfits, and abilities.

Aryll: A 15 year old female from Hyrule who is the Sage of the Legends. Aryll is the only already existing character to be a Legend as she is the younger sister of Link from Legend of Zelda, having appeared with him in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. In this universe which merges elements of all Zelda games, Aryll receives special training from Princess Zelda. Aryll has a passion for music which leads her to collect songs so she can play them and make her own. Aryll’s overall story deals with wanting to prove herself as more than Link’s sister and trying to be a guiding light for others. Aryll inspirations/mentors are Link and Zelda which is pretty obvious.

Wakeem Knolan: A 19 year old male from the Remnant Islands who is the Huntsman of the Legends. Wakeem is the adopted son of Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long while being trained to be a Huntsman of Remnant by Team RWBY’s leader Ruby Rose. Wakeem has a passion for building things which leads him to experiment with his weapon and collect Legos. Wakeem’s overall story deals with feelings of betrayal, fear of making connections, and the bond he shares with childhood friend Icarus Mino. Wakeem’s inspirations are Blake Belladonna from RWBY and Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop due to their hesitance to form bonds, Blake’s elegance in battle, Spike’s cool attitude, and an outfit that combines their iconic looks/colors.

Jared Leon: A 17 year old male from South Town who is the fighter of the Legends. Jared is a martial artist who studies Taekwondo style under Kim Kaphwan from Fatal Fury. Jared has a passion for animals which makes him wear animal themed outfits and want to adopt a pet in the future. Jared’s overall story focuses on him mastering his fighting style and controlling his emotions especially when he is forced to transform into a creature of the night. Jared’s inspirations/mentors are Kim, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury, and Ryu from Street Fighter who influence his fighting style, lighthearted attitude, focus on fighting, and an outfit that combines elements of all three characters.

Peter “Cronus” Lennox: A 20 year old male from Autobot City who is the soldier of the Legends. Cronus is the nephew of Captain Lennox from Transformers 2007 which is the only Michael Bay film to have elements adapted into this universe. Cronus has a passion for food which has led him to cook multiple delicious meals. Cronus’ overall story focuses on him learning what it takes to be a good leader and his rivalry turned friendship with Sam. Cronus’ inspirations/mentors are Optimus Prime and Colonel Lennox who influence his skills, mentality, and serious attitude compared to his peers.

Chapter 3: The Prologue: Air Temple Island - December 29, 1945

Summary:

The prologue of what kicked off the Legends story.

Notes:

Chapter Text

Larino. A world unlike any other. If you’re reading this, you probably grew up watching, reading, or playing franchises like Indiana Jones, DC Comics, and Super Mario Brothers. What if I told you that Larino was home to many of these Pop Culture franchises. If you were brave enough, you could swim from the island of Metropolis and end up in Autobot City, this world’s version of Detroit. But the islands aren’t just based on cities and countries of the real world. Some islands feature landscapes that aren’t real like the grassy mountains of Hyrule or the spooky village of Transylvania. Most of these islands kept to themselves which led to similar histories that you know. It wasn’t until the end of the 20th century that the islands met and history began to change. These interactions led to alliances of both good and evil. In fact, the story you’re reading is about one of these alliances. One of 7 strangers who were brought together, became friends, and changed their world forever.

Our story begins not in the present, but in the past. In the world of Larino, the 100 year war of Avatar: The Last Airbender came to an end in the early 20th century. After that, Avatar Aang became the first island traveler as he helped end Larino’s version of World War 2. A few months later, his allies known as Team Avatar would find a strange box of great importance. But this story isn’t about Aang or any of the famous heroes you know, they are instead about individuals tied to them like Jai.

Jai is one of the seven people we will be focusing on. He’s connected to Aang by being the student of Katara, Aang’s waterbending wife. Jai is a 15 year old orphan who became Katara’s student after helping stop an assassination attempt on the Avatar. In the few years since, Jai has begun to master waterbending while becoming friends with Kiyi, the younger sister of Fire Lord Zuko. At the end of 1945, Jai was staying at the new Air Temple which was residing off the coast of the newly constructed Republic City. After a day of training, Jai hung out with Kiyi who was visiting with Zuko.

While Zuko met with the rest of Team Avatar, Jai caught up with Kiyi.

“How are things in the fire nation?” Jai asks his friend as they overlook the lake between Air Temple Island and Republic City.

“Good. Zuko finally convinced the generals to put resources towards the United Forces project.” Kiyi responds as she takes a moment to think about something else she should mention. “And we visited Uncle Iroh. He taught me a new fire bending technique.”

Jai perks up at that statement. “That’s nice. You know, he’s doing pretty good for a guy pushing 70.”

“Even if he was 80, he’d still kick you butt in a bending battle.” Kiyi responds in a jokey yet snarky tone.

“Oh ho ho. You sound like you want a challenge, “tea leaf”.” If you lose with Iroh’s new technique, does that mean I could win against him?” Jai says as he gets up and prepares for battle.

Kiyi gets up and prepares to fight too. “Only in your dreams “penguin breath”.” The two get in their waterbending and firebending positions as they prepare to have a friendly duel.

As this happens, a masked man scales the temple to where Team Avatar is holding a meeting. In the meeting room, Aang and Zuko sit around a table with Katara, Sokka, Suki, and Toph. The six friends discuss the strange looking box they found after the Second World War.

“Whatever this is, clearly isn’t from our island. And it doesn’t match anything the Fire Nation has recorded in the past.” Zuko states as Toph puts her hand on the box to feel its markings and energy.

“This thing is pulsating unlike anything I’ve felt before. It makes twinkle toes seem like literal air.” Toph states as she throws a small jab at her friend Aang.

Katara responds to Toph’s joke while bringing up another idea. “In all seriousness Toph, how are we sure this isn’t from a more futuristic island? Maybe it belongs to SEa or the JSA?”

“I don’t think so sis. When Suki and I traveled for our honeymoon, there was certainly strange tech we saw. But nothing we found looked like this.” Sokka says as he twists the box around to see all the sides.

Suki takes the box from her husband and puts it back in the middle. “Maybe consulting them would be helpful. This box could be connected to multiple islands on Larino.”

Aang stands up to address his decision on the situation. “In that case, I’ll take this box to Doctor Jones. He and his friends may be able to tell us more about whatever this is.”

Suddenly, Aang feels a strange air breeze that makes him turn towards the window. In a split second, Aang uses airbending to redirect a projectile sent inside. While it doesn’t kill anyone, the explosion destroys part of the temple which is noticed by Jai and Kiyi.

Jai turns to Kiyi whose face is full of fear and concern. “Let’s go!” After saying this, Jai runs with Kiyi inside the temple as they try to reach the secret meeting location.

Entering the area, Jai and Kiyi find Team Avatar who survive the explosion. As Jai puts out the fire with Katara, Kiyi checks on her brother.

“Zuzu. What happened?” Kiyi asks, concerned.

Before Zuko responds, everyone turns to a paper wall where a man in grey armor and an orange mask emerges.

“To make things easier, hand me the box.” The attacker says in a monotone voice.

“No, we won’t.” Zuko says as the mysterious man simply puts his hands behind his back.

“Sokka! Suki! Get the kids and the box out of here!” Aang orders as he conjures up a ball of air.

As Sokka and Suki lead Jai and Kiyi to safety, Zuko, Katara, Toph, and Aang ready themselves for a battle. The intruder makes the first strike as he runs to attack. The 4 benders attempt to restrain the villain, but he quickly jumps out of the way. The intruder drops a smoke bomb which covers the entire room and separates the heroes.

He then goes for Katara and quickly punches her in key spots to neutralize her. When Zuko shoots a fireball, the intruder grabs Katara as a shield to block Zuko’s attack. The intruder then throws Katara at Zuko which distracts the Fire Lord, allowing the villain to punch and kick him unconscious. The blind Toph uses earth bending to box the intruder in before she uses metal bending to restrain his arms. However, the intruder does a flip and twists the metal wires which allows him to restrain Toph’s arms, sweep her legs, and knock her out with a jab to the head. This leaves Avatar Aang who controls multiple elements at the same time. At first, the intruder has to dodge these attacks while having limited space to move. The villain gets the advantage by using the unconscious heroes as shields which leads Aang to intentionally miss his shots. This then gives the intruder the chance to grab Aang’s collar and kick him in the stomach so hard that he has to cough for air. Just as Aang tries to go into the Avatar state, the villain shoots him with a tranquilizer dart.

Elsewhere on the island, Sokka and Suki lead Jai and Kiyi who hold the box. Just as they arrive at Appa, the heroes see that the mysterious intruder is running towards them.

“Get on Appa and fly away! We’ll hold him off” Suki exclaims as she pulls out her fans for battle.

Sokka pulls out his boomerang and sword as he attempts to distract the intruder. “Hey buddy! So should I call you Two-Face or Party Crasher? Because both names fit a ton.”

The intruder approaches the couple and stands still. “If you wish for a name, call me Slade. But it won’t matter, I defeated your bending friends, you are just an afterthought on my mission.”

“Well sorry to burst your bubble Slade, but you are going down!” Sokka states as he doesn’t realize what kind of person he’s dealing with.

As Jai and Kiyi fly off on Appa, Slade takes on the fan and sword wielders of Team Avatar. Slade avoids the sword and fan attacks before narrowly dodging a strike from boomerang. This then leads Slade to pull out an extendable staff from his back which he uses to trap Suki’s fan. As Sokka goes in for a strike, Slade breaks the fan, wacks Sokka’s hand which makes him drop the sword, and then twists the staff to knock out both fighters. Slade retracts the staff and puts it away before seeing what direction the flying bison went.

On Appa, Jai and Kiyi sit in silence as they worry for Team Avatar. After staring at the distance, they then look at each other before looking at the mysterious box. Suddenly, the duo hear a sound that gets louder and louder. Looking below them, the duo see Slade following them in a skinny flying machine. As he reaches their altitude, Slade does a barrel roll around Appa. When he’s right above the flying bison, Slade ejects from his plane and lands on the creature. Jai is quickly knocked over as Kiyi tries to strike the villain. However, Slade quickly overwhelms Kiyi and holds her by the neck.

Kiyi is only able to get a few words out between her breaths. “Why… are you… doing… this?”

Slade responds in a monotone yet intimidating voice. “You brother and his friends have no idea what they are dealing with. The only reason they are alive is that my associate wants them alive. You on the other hand are expendable.

As Slade tries to drop Kiyi over the side of Appa, Jai climbs up the other side as he sees what’s going on. With his friend’s life on the line, Jai makes a split second decision that sets him on a new path. “Appa! Yip! Yip!” This phrase causes Appa to fly higher which throws Slade’s balance off. Kiyi escapes his clutches as the box begins to slide off. When Slade goes to get it, Jai takes a broken sword piece and stabs the villain in his eye. However, both Jai and Slade fall off Appa.

“Jai!!!” Kiyi screams as she watches her friend plummet into the sea with Slade and the box. Jai’s unconscious body sinks with the box as a strange energy begins to surround the waterbender. But to Kiyi and Team Avatar, Jai had perished that day. And the strange box was lost forever.

It was lost until 2015.

Chapter 4: Chapter Format

Summary:

An example of the Chapter format going forward.

Chapter Text

Summary:
A multi paragraph summary of the chapter’s plot points.

Elements:
Where I provide info about the franchise being represented, what elements are included, what stories are canon, and important details for the overall Legends story.

Hypothetical Guest Cast:
If this project was made right now with a big budget and no restrictions, I would want to include many of the original actors to reprise their roles. This would allow you to see which specific pop culture characters are included in each chapter and who I’d want to voice them.

Chapter 5: Episode 1: Hill Valley - May 3, 2015

Summary:

A young man returns home and encounters a waterbender who will change the trajectory of their lives forever.

Chapter Text

Summary:

On the Island of Hill Valley, Sam McFly has returned home after 4 years of being a journalist on different islands. However, a traumatic experience on the island of Gotham City caused Sam’s past regrets like breaking up with his girlfriend and fear of failing to live up to his family’s legacy to weigh heavily on him. Wanting to recalibrate his thinking, Sam has spent the last few weeks spending time with his parents Marty and Jennifer McFly while working at his godfather, Emmett Brown’s Institute of Future Technology. Today’s date is May 2, 2015. The significance is that the Institute is closed for a special anniversary party with the only guests being Doc, his wife Clara, his sons Jules and Verne, Marty, Jennifer, and Sam.

Before going to the party, Sam woke up in his childhood home and talked to his dad via the phone since he and Jennifer were out running errands. This conversation made Sam realize he was going to be late for a special pickup. Quickly getting ready, Sam raced out of the house and rode his bike to the Hill Valley clocktower square. Here, Sam picked up his cake order while running amok of Biff Tannen, the local old man who had history with the former’s grandparents. Sam then went to the Institute where he delivered the cake well before the party was to start.

In the meantime, Sam talks with Doc and Clara about his feeling of directionless and wanting to find a new purpose. The Browns advise Sam that the future is still unwritten and can be whatever he wants it to be which the McFly parents reiterate by saying the iconic “If you can put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” The anniversary party happens as Sam thinks about what he’s been told. When it comes to an end, Sam decides to not return home yet. Instead, he goes to the edge of the island to stare off at the sea and the moon.

After some time to think alone, Sam prepared to leave until he noticed a person wash up on the shore. Going down there, Sam found a teenager wearing water tribe robes and latching onto a strange looking box. After finding that the stranger is breathing, Sam decides to take him home so they can both rest. Unbeknownst to them, this event is watched by a satellite that Slade Wilson has access to. The assassin has become an old man with white hair and an eye patch while garnering the title, Deathstroke the Terminator. Seeing the box leads Slade to make a trip to Hill Valley.

In the morning, Sam wakes up on the sofa and finds that his parents have left early which leads him to check in on the stranger who he placed in his room. However, the stranger is up which leads the two to meet and talk. Sam learns that the stranger is named Jai and is a water bender from the Elements region of Larino. While not knowing much about the region, Sam is intrigued by Jai’s abilities and sympathizes with the latter’s desire to go home and see if Kiyi and the others are ok. This leads Sam to offer his help in getting Jai home which involves meeting with his parents and Doc Brown at the Institute.

However, the McFly residence is attacked by Slade who attempts to steal the mysterious box. Jai uses his water bending to protect Sam who grabs the box and throws the villain’s gun away. Sam and Jai ride off on a bike as Slade pursues on foot. The bike and foot chase takes them to the Clocktower Square where Sam comes up with a strategy that uses Jai’s abilities to distract Slade. When this succeeds, Slade is hit by a truck and crashes into a store. Sam and Jai quickly take this opportunity to make an escape. However, Slade quickly gets up and forces Biff to reveal where they went.

At the Institute, Sam introduces Jai to his parents and godparents who learn about Slade’s attack and the box he seeks. While examining the box, the McFlys and Browns connect the dots as they realize that Jai was the water bender who presumably died during Slade’s attack on Avatar Aang’s island 70 years ago. This leads Jai to learn he’s been in an underwater coma as he learns most of Team Avatar has passed away, a new Avatar protects the Elements region, and Kiyi is an old lady now. As Jai takes time to process this, Sam learns that his parents and godparents plan to get this box to the Justice League who could help them study it and learn why Slade wants it so bad. To do this and to get Jai home, the heroes need to finish constructing an 8-seater DeLorean with the ability to teleport across the islands when it reaches 88 MPH.

The clock is ticking to finish the DeLorean as Slade arrives at the Institute and battles its automated defenses from Wayne Enterprises. As Sam and Jai help finish the car’s mechanics, the two take a break to drink soda and talk. Sam tries to comfort Jai over what he learned, but the latter brushes it off and tries to hide his pain with humor. Realizing he can’t push the issue, Sam quickly changes the subject and finds that Jai has a fascination with cars and other land-based vehicles like trains. This conversation begins to form the foundations of friendship for Sam and Jai.

The DeLorean is fully completed as Slade finishes destroying the defenses. The heroes prepare to take off as the McFlys and the Browns gather some supplies. However, Slade throws an explosive that damages the building and creates fireballs. Unharmed due to being by the car, Sam and Jai are unable to see their allies in the fire which leads them to believe that Marty, Jennifer, Doc, and Clara have perished. As Slade approaches them with his gun, Sam and Jai use a jamming malfunction to enter the DeLorean and drive off. The duo take the box with them as Slade pursues on foot. Sam and Jai are able to get away, but Slade spots a truck.

At a safe distance, Sam stops the car to mourn as Jai tries to comfort him. Before this can happen, the duo see Slade drive his new truck off a hill to pursue. The DeLorean takes off as it is chased in a high adrenaline sequence. In a sharp turn, Jai accidentally shuts off the Island coordinates that had been previously set. As Jai tries to put them back in, Sam comes up with an idea to get them to safety while getting rid of Slade as a threat. The DeLorean is turned around and begins to drive directly at Slade’s truck in a game of chicken. However, neither car diverts from its path as the car begins to reach 88 MPH. In a flash of light, the DeLorean disappears as a flame of fire causes the underside of the truck to explode. Slade quickly jumps out before the truck goes over the side of a cliff and crashes into a big ball of flame.

In the aftermath, the Hill Valley news reports on the day’s events with a testimony from Biff. This broadcast is listened to by Slade who hides out from the authorities with Marty, Jennifer, Doc, and Clara who are captured and revealed to be alive. Slade questions the 4 heroes on where the DeLorean went as his boss wants the box. When the McFlys and Browns try to argue that the box is safely in the hands of the Justice League, Slade retorts that they won’t be. Slade then gets a call from his employer who reveals that the DeLorean never showed up to the Hall of Justice. This creates fear and worry in everyone as they realize that the circuit coordinates were altered and the duo could be anywhere.

On another island, the DeLorean appears out of nowhere as Sam and Jai take a moment to catch their breaths. Just like Jai did earlier, Sam tries to hide his grief with comedy before getting out to see where they are. Sam and Jai look around to see a forest and then a lake that leads to a castle with pointy architecture and people flying around on broomsticks and giant animals. Neither Sam or Jai have been to this island before. In fact, they wonder if they’ve been thrown back in time to a magical world.

To Be Continued…

Elements to Know:
This story primarily features Back to the Future which includes the events of the original Trilogy and the Telltale video game being canon. In this universe, Marty became a famous rock star in the 90’s with him and Jennifer only having one kid aka Sam. During this time, Doc and his family opened the Institute of Future Technology which is from the defunct Back to the Future: The Ride at Universal. Marty retired from music after the event that brought the islands of Larino together and began the age of superheroes.

Due to the time skip from 1945-2015, the time of Avatar: The Last Airbender is over and we are now in the era of Legend of Korra. As for where Sam and Jai ended up, it is going to be Hogwarts from Harry Potter where the next chapter is set. The 8-seater DeLorean, which will serve as the main mode of transportation for the heroes, is based off the ride vehicle from the Back to the Future Ride.

As for songs, Power of Love (During Sam’s morning montage), Johnny B Goode (During Slade’s break-in/fixing the DeLorean scene), and Back in Time (End Credits) would be featured in addition to the iconic Back to the Future Theme.

Hypothetical Guest Actors:

Michael J Fox as Marty McFly

Christopher Lloyd as Emmett Brown

Claudia Wells as Jennifer Parker McFly

Ron Perlman as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke

Mary Steenburgen as Clara Clayton Brown

Thomas F Wilson as Biff Tannen

Chapter 6: Episode 2: Hogwarts - May 5, 2015

Summary:

Sam and Jai’s journey continues as they meet the next Legends member who studies at the famous school of Harry Potter.

Chapter Text

Summary:
On the Island of Hogwarts, a field trip leads most of the students and faculty to be gone for the week. Three professors who remained are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Neville Longbottom who were major players in the second Wizarding War. With no classes or students, the trio plan to spend quality time with Harry’s wife Ginny and Ron’s wife Hermione who have left their children in the care of Arthur and Molly Weasley for the week. After reminiscing about their school time, the 5 friends meet Luke Lars, a student in his 7th year who is one of the only ones to remain at Hogwarts.

Accompanied by Luke who’s bored, the former members of Dumbledore’s Army visit the former hut of Rubeus Hagrid who recently passed away. Everyone pays their respects before they hear a disturbance near the lake. Going to investigate, the Group sees that a silver car had appeared out of nowhere. Emerging from it are Sam and Jai who wonder where they are. The Wizards and Witches get the duo’s attention who try to ask them some questions. However, a Hebridean Black dragon appears and latches its claws onto the DeLorean. The wizards and witches grab their wands and fire at the dragon to make it stop. Jai tries to use his water bending as well, but the dragon blasts fire which causes Sam and Jai to knock themselves out dodging it. The dragon then flies away, carrying the DeLorean with it.

The wizards and witches check on the unconscious strangers as they decide to take them back to the Medical Wing of Hogwarts. As this happens, a masked figure watches before entering the Forbidden Forest. Going deep into the woods, the masked figure finds a small stone with the symbol of the Deathly Hallows. In the medical wing, Sam and Jai wake up as they recollect what happened before encountering a House Elf for the first time. The duo are then visited by Harry’s group as everyone gets the answers they are looking for.

After Sam and Jai inform them of their escape from Hill Valley, the wizards and witches inform them that they’re on an island that specifically teaches students magic. This makes Sam recognize Harry as the Wizard friend Marty made back in the day. However, this reminds Sam of the apparent deaths of his parents and godparents. This leads Jai to take over asking questions as he requests their help in getting the DeLorean back so they can recover the strange box and take it to the Justice League.

The wizards and witches agree to help as Luke reveals he can see the energy signature of the dragon which leads to underneath castle. Believing they can recover it, Harry’s group agree to it while saying that Sam and Jai must stay to heal their wounds. When Sam and Jai protest, Luke offers to come along and keep an eye on the duo so the others can focus on restraining the dragon and recovering car. The heroes agree to this plan as Sam and Jai learn they’re going to ride flying brooms to reach the lower caverns beneath Hogwarts.

After a ride that gives them the joy and fun of flying in the air, Sam and Jai follow Luke as the others go ahead first. As they slowly make their way in, Sam and Jai talk with Luke who ends up answering some questions the duo have. Luke reveals he saw the dragon’s energy signature because he was born with a special and ancient type of magic which is the reason he started attending school in his 5th year. Sam and Jai then learn that this and being an American in London has led the Wizard to feel isolated and like he doesn’t have a place in the world. In their discussion, Luke finds that Sam and Jai also have similar feelings due to past experiences and recent events.

As this conversation happens, Harry’s group find the DeLorean which is surrounded by the sleeping dragon. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville then combine Wingardium Leviosa to levitate the car and move it together. However, everyone spots the masked figure searching for something through a nest made of woods. The masked figure notices everyone which leads him to pull out a wand and fire a spell at the sleeping dragon’s face. This leads the dragon to wake up in a fury and attack the heroes after noticing them.

Sam, Jai, and Luke hear what’s going on and go to help. The trio help Harry’s group protect themselves from the dragon while trying to get the DeLorean out of the cave. As this happens, the masked figure finds two white wood pieces which leads him to attempt an exit. The heroes notice this and attempt to stop him as well. In the ensuing chaos, the trio drive the DeLorean away, the dragon is put back to sleep, and the masked figure is unmasked as Draco Malfoy. Before the heroes can question why he’s turned to evil, Draco disapparate away while accidentally leaving one of the wood pieces.

After making sure everyone is ok, the heroes find the wooden piece which Harry recognizes as part of the Elder Wand he snapped in half after defeating Lord Voldemort. As everyone wonders why Draco has turned to evil again, the trio talk about each other’s skills in which Sam is praised for planning and finding unique ways to combine each of their different powers and make them work as one. This causes an epiphany in the trio who talk to the others as they all realize that Draco is collecting the three Deathly Hallows. Believing Draco has both the Resurrection Stone and the Elder Wand, Harry reveals the Invisibility Cloak is locked away at his vault in Gringotts.

To get there quickly, the wizards and witches get some floo powder which initially freaks out Sam and Jai. However, the duo successfully use floo powder thanks to Luke. Everyone arrives in Diagon Alley which is in chaos due to an attack at Gringotts. The heroes head inside and use the mine carts to reach the lower levels where Harry’s family vault is. This leads them to face off with Draco who has been waiting for Harry to arrive since he’s the only who can open the vault. To keep the other distracted, Draco uses floo powder to summon a dinosaur known as the Spinosaurus. Sam, Jai, and their allies are forced to deal with the Spinosaurus while avoiding getting stepped on or eaten.

In the chaos, Draco battles Harry who is knocked out after having to put his attention on saving his friends. This allows Draco to force Harry to open the vault so he can get the Invisibility Cloak. After taking back the second wand piece, Draco now has all three of the Deathly Hallows. The Spinosaurus then stops attacking as it makes it ways towards Draco. Sam and Jai save Luke who notices a portkey stuck on the top of the Spino’s mouth. Hermione and Ron rush towards Draco who holds Harry captive and fires an explosive spell that causes rocks to fall. Ginny and Neville are injured while Luke protects Sam and Jai. Just as Draco touches the port key, Hermione and Ron grab him.

When the dust settles, Sam, Jai, and Luke check on their injured allies before realizing that Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and the Spinosaurus have disappeared. Everyone remaining exits Gringotts and use floo powder to return to Hogwarts. Everyone begins to where their allies went and why Draco wanted the Deathly Hallows. With Neville and Ginny needing to heal up, Sam and Jai offer to find the Golden Trio and uncover what’s going on. As Sam and Jai get the DeLorean ready, Luke talks with Neville and Ginny who help him decide to go with his new allies. When Luke offers his assistance, Sam and Jai gladly accept as they decide to play some of Sam’s music since Luke has a secret love of american culture. Do you Believe in Magic plays as the DeLorean reaches 88 MPH and disappears in a blast of light.

In an unknown location, Harry, Ron, and Hermione wake up in a cell with restraints on them. The trio see that Draco is restrained too as he wakes up wondering where they are too. When the Golden Trio accuse him of stealing the Deathly Hallow pieces, Draco claims he was returning home after a visit to his wife in the hospital. The confusion and accusations are cut off by the arrival of an older woman who claims responsibility. Introducing herself as Katarina Scarlett, the jailer of the 4 wizards reveals she has been using the Imperius Curse on Draco to steal the Deathly Hallows. Having just repaired the Elder Wand, Katarina puts on the cloak and stone ring which turns her into the Master of Death.

Elements to Know:

This story primarily features the Wizarding World of Harry Potter which mostly follows the events of the book series despite using the actors from the films. One of the only major changes from the movies that’s canon is Harry breaking the Elder Wand in half instead of putting it back into Dumbledore’s tomb. After the Battle of Hogwarts, things changed as Harry participated in the 1999 event that Marty and Doc were a part of. In fact, this is why Sam recognizes Harry since his father described meeting him during this crisis. The changes from here resulted in Harry not becoming an Auror, but instead becoming a teacher at Hogwarts which is a semi-popular head cabin and belief of the fandom. Additionally, Hermione helped the Wizarding World become public knowledge as the islands became more connected with each other.

As for some details about Luke, he is an orphaned American boy who was adopted by an elderly couple in London. After they passed away, Luke discovered his magical abilities at the age of 15. This led him to enter Hogwarts much later in a similar fashion to the protagonist of Hogwarts Legacy. A cut plot point, but 100% canon idea is that Luke is a descendant of the HL protagonist which is why he access to the ancient magic introduced in the game. In fact, the dragon in the story was chosen specifically since it was from that game. In his time at Hogwarts, Luke didn’t have any friends and felt like he was out of place there. Luke’s favorite Professor is Neville who helped him deal with his insecurities which is why he’s the one who advises Luke to go with Sam and Jai so he can find what he’s looking for.

The Spinosaurus featured in the climax is meant to be the same one from Jurassic Park 3 with a future chapter taking our heroes to the island of Isla Nublar from Jurassic Park/World. As for the music, the iconic music of the Harry Potter films primarily the songs composed by John Williams will be featured. Do You Believe in Magic by The Lovin Spoonful is a fun little addition that will have a deeper meaning to Luke’s future storylines.

Hypothetical Guest Cast:
Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter
Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley
Emma Watson as Hermione Granger
Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy
Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom
Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley
Jamie Lee Curtis as Katarina Scarlett (Cameo)

Chapter 7: Episode 3: Hyrule - May 7, 2015

Chapter Text

Summary:
Among the islands of Larino, some remained hidden and unknown like Hyrule which was ruled by the evil and tyrannical Ganondorf. However, a legend would be born on this island when the legendary Master Sword was found by a young and mute boy named Link. At the age of 12, Link went on a journey to rescue his little sister Aryll from the villainous Ganondorf. With help from Princess Zelda who was disguised as the ninja Sheik, Link united the different regions of the island, found the three TriForce pieces, and permanently brought an end to Ganondorf’s rule over Hyrule.

Since that event, Link has become the Champion of Hyrule helping Zelda keep the island safe as it continues to remain hidden from the rest of Larino. After the passing of his grandmother, Link moved to Hyrule Castle along with Aryll who is now 15. Under the tutelage of Zelda, Aryll has been training in the art of magic and archery in order to become a Sage like Zelda’s bodyguard Impa. While she’ll never admit it out loud, Aryll seeks to do this so she can live up to being the sister of Hyrule’s Champion.

After having a dream of 3 strangers and a sinister figure, Aryll joins Zelda and Impa on a horse ride to continue her training. When the trio reach their location, Aryll learns she has completed the first phase of her training which leads Zelda and Impa to gift her Sheikah robes and a customized bow that can be enhanced with magic. Aryll tests out the bow and discovers that she can pierce a tree with an arrow.

However, the trio hear a disturbance which precedes an attack from the Yiga Clan. These rogue followers of Ganondorf attack the women who use their magic and weapons to fight back. Aryll gets to show off her new magic skills while using her bow to take out a few Yiga villains. Just as Zelda prepares to attack with a giant light blast, everyone’s attention is drawn away when the DeLorean appears out of nowhere.

Sam, Jai, and Luke emerge from the car as they are confused where they are while making quips about how they are terrible with reaching where they want to go. When a Yiga jumps on the DeLorean to attack, Luke and Jai fight him off as Sam notices Zelda’s trio. The DeLorean trio do their best to help fight the Yiga Clan. However, the Yiga Clan cause a mix-up that allows them to capture Zelda.

To keep everyone else occupied, the Yiga Clan awaken Dead Hands and Skulltulas which freak out the newcomers, injure Impa, and overwhelm Aryll. Before they are all killed, Link arrives and uses the Master Sword to take down the Dead Hands and Skulltulas.

After making sure his sister is ok, Link learns about what happened from Impa. At the same time, Aryll checks on the newcomers which leads her to be introduced to Sam, Jai, and Luke. The trio explain why they’ve been traveling to islands, but are unable to ask Aryll anything as she has to speak to her brother. Planning to go rescue Zelda, Link orders his sister to take Impa to Purah’s hut and to wait there until Zelda is rescued. Despite Aryll’s protests of wanting to help, Link takes off on Epona to the location of the Yiga Clan. The DeLorean crew offer their assistance by putting Impa in the DeLorean and pulling the vehicle with horses.

On the way to the hut, Sam, Jai, and Luke talk with Aryll as they learn about the different cultures of Hyrule and the island’s absence from Larino’s major events. As the conversation continues, Aryll ends up admitting out loud that she wants to live up to her brother’s legacy which leads Sam to pause for a moment. Sam begins to get emotional as he reveals that he lived his life worried about wanting to live up to the legacy of his father and the McFly family. Trying to process the loss of his parents, Sam regrets never talking to his parents about it as they probably didn’t believe he needed to anyway.

Reaching Purah’s hut, the heroes help bring Impa into it as Aryll looks out at the Hyrule night sky. Jai brings her a drink that Purah made as he begins a conversation with Aryll about what Sam said and Aryll’s relationship with Link. Jai deflects when Aryll asks if he lost someone or is trying to live up to someone’s legacy. After finishing her drink, Aryll decides to go help her brother rescue Zelda as Sam, Jai, and Luke catch her leaving with a horse. Aryll tells the trio that she’s going to do what’s right even if it means not listening to what her brother wants. The trio then reveal that they plan to help her as they take the DeLorean and zoom through Hyrule.

At the Yiga Clan hideout, Link sneaks in and is able to locate Zelda. However, the Yiga Clan use this as a trap to restrain Link and steal the Master Sword. Link and Zelda discover that the Yiga Clan have been preparing to bring back the spirit of Agahnim, an evil entity who will replace Ganondorf as their true leader. The Yiga Clan perform a ritual involving the Master Sword that sacrifices the leader so he can become the vessel for Agahnim. Just as Agahnim prepares to kill Link and Zelda, the DeLorean bursts through the hideout’s building. Jai and Luke fight the Yiga Clan as Sam helps Aryll free Link and Zelda.

With the forces of good free, Agahnim destroys part of the hideout which drops the heroes into a pit. Wielding dark magic, Agahnim creates the monster Stallord to kill the heroes while he goes to Hyrule Castle to get his hands on the TriForce. The giant Skeleton monster attempts to strike the heroes as Zelda’s magic and Luke’s spells shield them. This allows Sam to learn more about Stallord, Link, and Aryll’s skills/abilities. Working off of the quick info, Sam creates a strategy that uses Link’s Master Sword and Jai’s water bending to occupy Stallord’s attention while Aryll uses her bow to create ropes so everyone can climb out.

As everyone tries to climb out, Stallord jumps out his sand pit and causes Link to lose the Master Sword as Aryll and Sam fall back in. Just as Stallord is about kill the duo, Link, Zelda, Jai, and Luke use their magical abilities to hold Stallord back from striking. Aryll tries to grab the Master Sword and strike Stallord in the skull, but finds it too heavy for her. Sam helps her grab it as they work together to stab Stallord through the head and kill it.

On the surface, Zelda informs the DeLorean trio of what Agahnim could do if he gets his hands on the TriForce at Hyrule Castle. As this happens, Aryll gives the Master Sword back to Link who hugs his younger sister. Through sign language, Link and Aryll communicate as the latter reveals her personal dilemma of wanting to live up to him. Link signs that Aryll doesn’t need to live up to him and that he is proud of who she is. Link ends the conversation by informing Aryll that he and Zelda would be in much bigger trouble if she didn’t come to help.

Sam, Jai, and Luke reaffirm their willingness to assist in stopping Agahnim which leads them to visit Purah’s hut so they can grab the Sheikah Slate which was being fixed earlier. Using it, Zelda and Link contact their allies across Hyrule like Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa who make their way to Hyrule Castle. At the Castle, Agahnim attempts to break through the castle’s gates before all of the heroes arrive. As the Champions of Hyrule try to strike Agahnim, the villain’s dark magic blocks their attacks. Sam takes note of this as he has Luke and Jai use their abilities to see if Agahnim’s magic can block non-hylian powers.

When Agahnim is struck by Luke’s spells and Jai’s waterbending, Sam comes up with strategy that involves his two allies weakening Agahnim’s magic barrier. This then allows the Champions of Hyrule to get strikes on Agahnim. All of this culminates in Luke using his magic to enhance the Master Sword and Aryll’s arrows with spells which result in the siblings destroying Agahnim by stabbing him in the head with the sword and shooting the arrows into the chest. The heroes celebrate their victory as Groose makes a comedic appearance, realizing he was late to the battle.

As peace returns to Hyrule, Sam, Jai, and Luke prepare to leave as they are given supplies and their own Sheikah Slate so they can understand the mechanics of the DeLorean better. Within the Castle, Link and Aryll communicate through sign language again as the two discuss what the other islands may be home to. With Link needing to remain in Hyrule, Aryll comes up with the idea to go with her new friends who welcome her into the growing DeLorean crew. Link and Zelda watch as the DeLorean drives off to 88 MPH as the sun rises.

Elements to Know:
Unlike other franchises so far, Hyrule isn’t based on a specific game or storyline, but combines elements of multiple Zelda games.

The simple story of Link finding the TriForce, wielding the Master Sword, and defeating Ganondorf is the basis for a bunch of games including the original Legend of Zelda.

The story’s villain Agahnim is from 1991’s A Link to the Past and is actually Ganondorf’s alter ego in the game. In this version, Agahnim isn’t Ganondorf, but shares his Tears of the Kingdom voice actor as a nod to the connection.

Zelda mentoring Link by pretending to be the male Ninja Sheik is directly lifted from 1998’s Ocarina of Time. Additionally, the Dead Hands and Skulltulas are creepy enemies from that game.

Aryll is from the 2002’s The Wind Waker with her kidnapping being the catalyst for Link’s adventure in both that game and this story.

The giant skeleton Stallord is from 2006’s Twilight Princess and serves as a boss.

Groose is from 2011’s Skyward Sword who was Link’s former bully turned friend who matured into a good person over the course of that game and Link’s first adventure in Larino.

Link’s outfit, Zelda’s outfit, Mipha, Daruk, Revali, Urbosa, the Sheikah Slate, and the Yiga Clan are all from 2017’s Breath of the Wild.

Impa, who is primarily depicted as an old lady in the games, is young in this story like 2020’s Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which also serves as the basis for her outfit too.

Link and Aryll brutally defeating Agahnim by stabbing him in the head is similar to how Link defeats Ganondorf in multiple games specifically Ocarina of Time and the Wind Waker.

Hypothetical Guest Cast:
Andi Gibson as Impa
Kate Higgins as Purah
Matthew Mercer as Agahnim
Patricia Summersett as Zelda

Chapter 8: Episode 4: Vale of Remnant - May 9, 2015

Summary:

Sam and the DeLorean crew travel to Remnant as they meet the legendary huntresses of Team RWBY whose legacy is shown through Wakeem Knolan and Icarus Mino.

Chapter Text

Summary:
In the region of Remnant which was filled with monsters of darkness, half-animal humans, and special powers of magic, four young girls became legendary heroes due to their journey which changed everything. Starting out as students at an Academy for Huntsman, the protectors of Remnant, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long ended up having to visit the four regions of Remnant in order to stop Salem, an immortal being who led the Grimm, monsters made of darkness. Gaining the powers of the four magical Maidens, Team RWBY defeated Salem and restored order to Remnant.

Wielding the Maiden powers, Team RWBY went their separate ways in order to help Remnant become better. Ruby Rose became a permanent Huntress and trained the next generation of protectors. Weiss Schnee took over the Schnee Dust Company and improved how it was run and how it treated the Faunus. Being a Faunus herself, Blake Belladonna led the rights group known as the White Fang while marrying her teammate Yang Xiao Long. In 1999, Team RWBY reunited as Remnant was exposed to the rest of Larino thanks to the Uniting Event. As Ruby became a founding member of the Justice League, Blake and Yang adopt a young orphan named Wakeem Knolan. Wakeem grew up admiring the stories of his adopted moms and aunts which led him to desire to become a Huntsman like them.

In the present, Wakeem is a charming and handsome individual who likes to build things while having the Semblance power of creating a pocket dimension he can store things in. Wakeem is training to be a Huntsman under Ruby along with Icarus Mino. Icarus is Wakeem’s best friend and another orphan that Team RWBY took in. After finishing a training mission, Wakeem and Icarus are graded by Ruby before they all see the arrival of the DeLorean. Sam, Jai, Luke, and Aryll emerge as they discuss an unseen adventure they had after Hyrule. However, the mixture of confusion from Ruby’s group and certain negative emotions mimicked by Sam’s group cause the Grimm to attack. Ruby, Wakeem, and Icarus battle the Grimm as the DeLorean crew witnesses how the Remnant region works with the Huntsmen & Huntress destroying the soulless monsters. The DeLorean crew join the fight as they interact with Wakeem.

When the Grimm are destroyed, interactions happen as Sam and Luke recognize Ruby from the stories about the 1999 Unity event. After Ruby tells Wakeem and Icarus about her part-time membership with the Justice League, she reveals that communciation with the Justice League have been silent for a couple of weeks. The DeLorean crew then tells the trio about how they’ve been traveling across the islands in search of LXG in order to give them the strange box that Jai had.

However, Ruby receives a call from Weiss Schnee who is under attack at her home. Ruby’s trio depart for Schnee Mansion as the DeLorean crew tags along to find out what’s going on. Arriving and exploring the house leads Ruby to discover that her friend and former teammate has been kidnapped. As Ruby informs Blake and Yang of what happened, the DeLorean crew join Wakeem and Icarus in searching for clues.

While exploring, Wakeem and Icarus get to know the DeLorean crew who tell them about their islands and the ones they’ve visited on their journey. The newcomers to Remnant end up noticing some details of metal and oil before they help Ruby find a hidden camera in Weiss’s office. This allows everyone to find out that Weiss was kidnapped by a group of robots that appear to be made of scrap and abandoned parts.

When Jai accidentally opens a secret passage way, the heroes head to an underground lab where they find that Weiss has been developing a special type of Dust that could be used outside of Remnant due to the unique environment of the Remnant regions being different from the rest of Larino. Data logs reveal that Weiss knew someone was targeting her which led her to create a tracking device.

Suddenly, a scrap robot that was believed to be shut down emerges from the mansion’s stairs and attacks the heroes. Ruby, Wakeem, Icarus, and Sam’s group work together to fight the robot who is quick and has multiple limbs. During the fight, Sam and Luke notice something strange as the robot doesn’t try to harm Icarus as much. When the tracking device is discovered, the robot tries to take it. However, the heroes use this opportunity to destroy the metal machine. Not noticing that the robot was held together by Aura, the heroes focus on the tracker and discover where Weiss has been taken to.

Using Ruby’s airship again, the heroes travel to that location as the DeLorean crew begins to wonder if something is going on behind the scenes due to the robot having parts from other islands and not attacking Icarus. The DeLorean Crew and their allies arrive at an abandoned White Fang hideout which has deactivated robots that are similar to the ones that attacked Schnee Mansion. The heroes go deeper into the base which leads them to find the imprisoned Weiss.

However, the deactivated robots come to life and attack the heroes. While they have powers and weapons, the DeLorean Crew and Ruby’s trio are knocked unconscious due to the overwhelming number of robots along with the limited space to fight. Waking up in chains, the heroes see that the robots are packing up a ton of special Dust and using a teleporter to transport it to an unknown place. Ruby and Wakeem question the robots on who they work for which leads to a shocking reveal. The robots point to Icarus who is released from his chains.

With Ruby and Wakeem in shock, the DeLorean Crew and Weiss question Icarus on what’s really going on. Icarus reveals that his semblance of transforming any metal has adapted into merging metal into something he can control. Icarus then reveals how he wants to get off of Remnant as he is disillusioned with the idea of being a Huntsman and fighting Grimm for his entire life. This led him to join forces with a mysterious individual named Scarlett who wants the special Dust for some mysterious plan that will change things.

Because they are close friends, Icarus offers Wakeem the chance to join him since he’ll be able to see the other islands like he always wanted to. However, Wakeem angrily refuses as he believes Icarus is spitting in the face of everything that Team RWBY did to take care of him. Icarus responds to this by saying that he never saw Team RWBY as his family and has no more ties to Remnant. Suddenly, the hideout is broken into by Blake and Yang who use their semblances and weapons to destroy some of the robots.

Thanks to Wakeem’s moms, the DeLorean Crew, Wakeem, Ruby, and Weiss are freed as they join the battle against the robots. Due to Blake and Yang’s gigantic entrance, the hideout’s layout has been altered so there is more room for everyone to fight. Icarus screams out in order to attract the Grimm to their location using Negative Emotion. As Icarus tries to escape, the reunited Team RWBY battles the robots and the Grimm as Sam’s group join Wakeem in pursuing Icarus. The DeLorean see a new side of Wakeem as his anger towards Icarus makes him fast and deadly against the robots that attempt to yield him.

Reaching the roof, Icarus prepares to face Wakeem as the two square off. Icarus tries to convince Wakeem of his point by mentioning how Team RWBY hasn’t fixed all of Remnant’s problems and couldn’t even save Wakeem’s real parents. Wakeem denounces this by stating that Blake and Yang are his parents and that they taught him to protect others from villains like him no matter what. The DeLorean crew reach the top after climbing a ton of stairs before composing themselves and joining Wakeem’s side.

Wakeem and the DeLorean battle Icarus who summons robots to distract his opponents. Sam continues to develop his leadership skills by figuring out how to adapt Wakeem’s weapon and Semblance into combo attacks involving the other heroes. In particular, Wakeem and Luke’s combo attack ends up being the best. Realizing he is losing, Icarus grabs a device from his belt and walks backwards off the building. The heroes fail to grab him as they witness Icarus disappearing when he activates the device.

After Team RWBY finishes wiping out the Grimm threat, they meet up with Wakeem and the DeLorean Crew as they discuss what happened. Sam theorizes that Icarus has left Remnant since the device he used matches teleportation devices used by Justice League members and high-tech supervillains. Ruby informs the heroes that she needs to stay and help deal with the damages caused by Icarus, but that she plans to contact the Justice League. As the DeLorean crew prepares to depart, Wakeem has a talk with Blake and Yang about the betrayal of Icarus. Blake and Yang comfort their son while advising him that they can’t choose the choices of others.

However, Wakeem says that he can at least stop him from letting his mistakes harm others. This leads Wakeem to say goodbye to Team RWBY and request to join the DeLorean crew. Sam, Jai, Luke, and Aryll agree to this as they welcome the Huntsman to their team. After putting a box of special dust in the car, the DeLorean drives off as Team RWBY watches in concern for their son/nephew and his friends of other islands.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Icarus teleported to a secret base that Slade and Katarina are hiding out at. Icarus informs Katarina of what happened in Remnant as the latter uses his failure as a way to jab at Slade’s failure. However, the conversation allows them to figure out that the DeLorean crew has the strange box and is expanding. This leads Katarina to bring Icarus to a room with metal robots and prisoners. Katarina wakes up the McFlys and Browns as she introduces herself and reveals that she is going to locate the DeLorean sooner rather than later. The two couples are then forced to watch as Katarina powers a machine that steals the powers of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as Icarus uses his powers to activate robots that contain the stolen powers.

Elements to Know:
RWBY is one of the lesser known franchises I chose to include in Legends, but it’s a personal one for me and my brother. For those who don’t know, RWBY is a anime-inspired web series created by the late Monty Oum for RoosterTeeth. Running for 9 seasons, the series developed a passionate fanbase and is RoosterTeeth’s most well-known show besides Red vs Blue. RWBY is so well known that pictures and figures of the cast were used in 2019’s Doctor Sleep, Ruby Rose had a blink and you’ll miss it cameo in 2018’s Ready Player One, and they were even featured in crossovers with the Justice League thanks to RoosterTeeth and DC being both owned by WarnerBros Discovery.

However, RWBY’s story is unfinished which is why the backstory of Team RWBY defeating Salem and becoming the new Maidens is based off predictions and fan theories. If RWBY gets more seasons and finishes their story differently, I will add these new elements to their backstory in Legends.

Specific terms from RWBY’s lore include Dust (Crystals with the energy of different elements that can power weapons, vehicles, and even the human body), Grimm (Creatures of darkness with no soul that are attracted to negative emotions), Aura (A protective energy made from a person’s soul that protects them until it runs out and needs to regenerate), Semblance (A unique and special power caused by the activation of a Person’s Aura), Faunus (Humanoids of Remnant with a physical trait based on an animal’s special part), and Maidens (Four women with the gifts of magic that are themed to the four seasons).

In this timeline, Remnant is a secluded region of Larino similar to Hyrule. Unlike Hyrule, Remnant became public to the entire world during the Uniting Crisis in 1999. This is what led Ruby to become a founding member of the Justice League as a nod to the RWBY/Justice League crossover. Additionally, Blake and Yang saved the orphaned Wakeem which led them to adopt him. Blake became the new leader of the White Fang and helped the Faunus get the rights they so rightly deserved. Yang became a part-time huntress as she split her time helping Ruby on missions, helping Blake with the White Fang, and taking care of Wakeem. Weiss took over the Schnee Dust Company and changed how it was run in order to support the White Fang and help others use Dust on islands that didn’t have Grimm.

When Wakeem turned 10, he met Icarus who was another orphan like him. Icarus was taken in by Team RWBY, but never saw them as family like Wakeem did. While Wakeem grew curious about the other islands, Icarus grew resentful as he hated Remnant, yet could never leave due to his age and Team RWBY’s need to help make Remnant a better place.

6 months prior, Icarus encountered Katarina who enticed him with the opportunity to leave Remnant forever in exchange for helping her capture Team RWBY for her mind-control army.

The reason each chapter after Hogwarts takes place two-three days later is that each episode takes place over the course of two-three days and the DeLorean crew has mini adventures that don’t add to the overall story, but allow room for spin-offs and side stories during specific periods of time.

Hypothetical Guest Cast:
Lindsay Jones as Ruby Rose
Kara Eberle as Weiss Schnee

Jen Taylor as the Narrator
A.J. LoCascio as Marty McFly

Chapter 9: Episode 5: South Town - May 11, 2015

Summary:

Sam and the DeLorean crew travel to South Town where they meet Jared Leon and join forces with Terry Bogard and Team Fatal Fury in order to stop the crime lord Geese Howard once and for all.

Chapter Text

Summary:
On the island of South Town, Terry Bogard and his brother Andy witness their adopted father Jeff getting murdered by the criminal Geese Howard who steals a pair of Sacred Scrolls. This event impacts both Terry and Andy who spent the next 10 years training themselves to be fighters so they could get revenge on Geese. After 5 years of battling Geese’s criminal empire, Terry and Andy had weakened Geese’s control of South Town while finding allies like Muay Thai champion Joe Higashi, kunoichi ninja Mai Shiranui, South Town cop Blue Mary, and Taekwondo hero Kim Kaphwan.

At Sound Beach, Team Fatal Fury hangs out as Kim arrives and introduces the group to Jared Leon, his first student who loves animals and grew up as an orphan in South Town. After this, Team Fatal Fury sees a broadcast of Geese Howard stating that he has returned and will be a shining beacon for the island. Before they can address this, Team Fatal Fury hears some commotion as everyone is approached by Jin Chonshu, Jin Chonrei, and a gang of thugs as they reveal how Geese possesses the Sacred Scrolls. The Jin brothers threaten Team Fatal Fury to stay out of their way as they will be the ones to kill Geese. When Team Fatal Fury refuses, the villains prepare to attack until the DeLorean appears and crashes into a stand.

Sam, Jai, Luke, Aryll, and Wakeem emerge from the vehicle as they appear to be sick from an unseen adventure. Sam snaps himself and the others out of this mindset when he recognizes Mai and the others. This leads the DeLorean crew to join the fight as they help Team Fatal Fury battle the Jin group. Having put their weapons in the frunk (front truck) and the car being halfway through the wood wall, the DeLorean crew are unable to get their weapons which causes Luke, Aryll, and Wakeem to struggle. The only one who still fights normally is Jai who teams up with Jared to defeat Chonshu. The goons run off as spirits fly out of Chonshu and Chonrei which freaks out the members of the DeLorean crew. After Andy briefly explains the strange situation of the Jin brothers, introductions are made as the DeLorean crew meet Terry, Andy, Joe, Mai, Mary, Kim, and Jared. However, Jai, Luke, Aryll, and Wakeem are shocked to see that Sam and Team Fatal Fury know each other.

Sam briefly explains he went to the University of Central Florida and did an intern program in South Town since it was a couple hours from UCF. This allowed Sam to meet Team Fatal Fury and cover their first battles with Geese and his half-brother Wolfgang Krauser. Sam, who believed Geese died when he fell off a building, is shocked to find that the crime lord is still alive. After learning that Team Fatal Fury plans to find Geese and stop him for good, Sam and the DeLorean crew offer their help due to their heroic attitudes and since their car is stuck and full of sand. Going to the Pao Pao Cafe, the heroes go over all of the info on Geese which allows the DeLorean crew to learn about Geese’s rise to power and what he did to the Bogard brothers. After everyone finishes their drinks and Sam prepares to get refills, an awkward moment happens when Sam accidentally calls Mai “honey” before correcting himself and quickly walking off. Jai and Luke go to check on Sam as Aryll and Wakeem bond with the Bogard brothers over their shared connections of having brothers or being adopted.

At the bar, Jai and Luke talk with Sam about the awkward interaction which leads him to reveal another part about his history with South Town. During his time in South Town, Sam became close with Mai and entered a relationship with her. However, Sam realized Mai still had feelings for Andy which led him to end their relationship in a way that he regrets. When his friends suggest trying to talk to Mai again, Sam reveals that it is something that he is afraid of which was made worse by an experience with Scarecrow’s Fear Toxin a few years in the past. This leads Jai to open up and reveal that he’s afraid to return home and find out what happened to Kiyi and the rest of Team Avatar. The conversation ends as Team Fatal Fury reveals that Geese is residing in his tower which is heavily guarded so they can’t get in through the front door. To get in, the heroes need to use a secret passage from the subway tunnels while getting an access card of one of Geese’s closest followers.

This leads everyone to visit the South Town Bridge where Ryuji Yamazaki is located. Yamazaki is a psychopath who works for Geese and enjoys the harm he causes others. On the way to the bridge, the DeLorean Crew and Team Fatal Fury bond as Kim and Jared create some comedy due to their super strong and over the top devotion to the concept of justice. However, Sam continues to avoid talking with Mai and is saved from a conversation when they arrive at the Bridge. The heroes approach Yamazaki who shows off his psychotic tendencies as he maliciously defeats Hon-Fu and Franco Bash. Terry and Blue Mary trade words with Yamazaki as he comments on the new allies of Team Fatal Fury. Team Fatal Fury and the DeLorean crew engage in a battle against Yamazaki as the citizens of South Town watch. One citizen, Duck King, sets up a DJ booth and begins to blast music during the fight. At first, the DeLorean crew struggles fighting against Yamazaki until Sam notices how the music can be used to help.

Taking his teammates aside, Sam makes them listen to the repeating music which creates a strategy for them. Using the beat of the music and using weapons in a defensive style, the DeLorean crew help the members of Team Fatal Fury turn the tide against Yamazaki who is knocked unconscious by the super moves of Terry’s Buster Wolf and Mai’s Hishou Ryuuenjin. While the heroes get the keycard, Kim is injured which forces them to stay behind with Jai so they can be healed. Before they go their separate ways, Kim gives words of advice to Jared as Jai tells Sam to talk to Mai and make sure nothing bad happens to everyone going to face Geese. The heroes head to the Subway tunnels and make their way to where Geese Tower is.

Before they enter, Sam takes Mai aside and explains why he was avoiding talking with her. Sam apologizes for how he handled the breakup and understands if Mai is still angry with him. However, Mai surprises Sam by revealing she holds no ill will towards him and even apologizes for not being as truthful as she could have been when they were dating. Sam and Mai reconcile and decide to become friends again before joining the heroes in their attack on Geese Tower. The DeLorean crew and Team Fatal Fury arrive on the first floor and get attacked by Billy Kane, Geese’s bodyguard. Wielding a bo staff, Billy proves to be a problem as he is assisted by alerted goons of Geese. To make sure the others can reach Geese, Aryll, Joe, and Mary stay behind to fend off Billy’s group as Terry and Sam lead everyone up the stairs.

Reaching the top level, everyone catches their breath before entering the temple at the top. Geese is waiting for the heroes and reveals that he has destroyed the Sacred Scrolls so no one else can use them against him. Geese then talks to the DeLorean crew revealing that he knows the person behind Deathstroke’s attack on Hill Valley. After Jared gives a quick speech about how they will bring the villain to justice, Geese removes his kimono shirt and engages in battle. Sam, Luke, Wakeem, Terry, Andy, Mai, and Jared battle Geese in an epic battle with “Soy Sauce for Geese” playing. Geese’s skills are shown as he barely breaks a sweat fending off the attackers while calling the attacks “predictabo” and unleashing both the Reppuken and the Double Reppuken. Sam is knocked through the wooden railing and almost falls off the building until Luke and Mai save him.

During a moment in the fight, Terry crashes into a desk and sees a photo of a woman and a young boy within Geese’s belongings. Geese manages to knock out Luke, Wakeem, Andy, and Mai out of the fight as Sam finds his legs trapped under rubble. Terry and Jared stand tall against Geese as the former asks about the photo he found. Geese reveals that the woman was an old lover who died and the boy is his son Rock who lives in an orphanage. Sam uses this as a distraction to grab Wakeem’s weapon and toss it to Jared who attempts to strike Geese with it. Geese easily defeats Jared, but realizes this was a distraction so Terry could perform a Power Geyser. Unable to counter with a Reppuken, Geese is struck by the move and flies off the temple. Terry runs and grabs Geese’s hand to prevent the villain from falling to his death. As Jared frees Sam to go and help, Geese rejects Terry’s help and falls to his death, laughing all the way down. The rest of the heroes witness this as Aryll, Joe, and Mary witness Geese’s impact on the ground after Billy is defeated.

At the Pao Pao Cafe, Jai finishes healing Kim as they see the news report on Geese’s death. Shortly after, the DeLorean crew and Team Fatal Fury arrive as they process what happened. When the heroes ask why Terry tried to save Geese, he says that he didn’t want to separate a kid from his father like Geese did to them all those years ago. Team Fatal Fury does believe that now that Geese is gone, South Town can finally move past its history of crime.

With the DeLorean freed and removed of sand, Sam’s group prepares to leave as they say goodbye to Team Fatal Fury. Sam and Mai say goodbye as the latter hopes that the former can find the love he deserves. Jared and Kim have a small talk as the former reveals he’s interested in joining the DeLorean crew to see what the other islands see as justice. With his master’s blessing, Jared goes to the DeLorean crew who welcome them to their growing crew. As the DeLorean reaches 88 MPH and disappears, Terry visits an orphanage and plays basketball with the kids which leads him to meet Rock.

Elements to Know:
Fatal Fury is a fighting game franchise created by SNK that may not be as famous as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, but is still very important in the landscape of fighting games. In fact, Fatal Fury was created by the original creator of Street Fighter, Takashi Nishiyama. Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui are the most recognized characters which led the former to guest star in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, the latter to guest star in Dead or Alive 5 & 6, and both guest starring in Street Fighter 6. Geese Howard was also a Guest Character in Tekken 7.

The events of the episode are directly based on the events of Real Bout Fatal Fury, the fourth installment in the series. The events of Fatal Fury 1, 2, and 3 are referenced in the backstory with Terry and Andy returning to South Town, 10 years after their father was murdered by Geese. Team Fatal Fury defeated Geese in Fatal Fury 1 who went into hiding before they stopped his half-brother Wolfgang Krauser in Fatal Fury 2. Team Fatal Fury then fought Jin Chonshu and Jin Chonrei who were the villains of Fatal Fury 3 and were in possession of the Sacred Scrolls. After the brothers were defeated, Geese got his hands on the remaining scrolls and made his grand return in Real Bout Fatal Fury which leads directly into the story.

There are cameos from Duck King, Hon-Fu, and Franco Bash who are playable characters in Real Bout Fatal Fury and some of the early entries of the series. While not mentioned in the summary, Bob Wilson, another playable character, would appear as one of the managers of the Pao Pao Cafe. The Pao Pao Cafe is a famous location for SNK fighting games and has been a stage in multiple games series besides Fatal Fury. The Beach, the Bridge, the Subway, and Geese Tower are stages directly from Real Bout Fatal Fury.

The Buster Wolf, Hishou Ryuuenjin, Reppuken, Double Repukken, and Power Geyser are super moves from the games. Geese saying “predictabo” is a famous line for the series and became a series meme along with the Double Repukken. If this is made into a full episode, more super moves would be included along with the goofy win quotes and Terry’s iconic “Okay!” & “Are You Ok?” The story would feature the music of Fatal Fury as well, but I had to give special mention to “Soy Sauce for Geese” the iconic boss music of Geese.

Geese’s death is nearly 1 for 1 like the game’s ending cutscene. Just like in the games, Terry will choose to look after Rock which will lead the former to mentor the latter who will grow up to become the protagonist of Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves which are set years after Real Bout. Due to my love of SNK’s fighting games and characters, I plan to feature more SNK characters in future seasons and storylines including adapting plot elements from SNK’s crossover series King of Fighters.
