   Summary

   The Magnus Institute, a repository of the strange and unsettling, is about to face a new challenge in the form of Harlan Hewitt, a peculiar new assistant to the archives. From the moment Harlan strolls into the Institute, Head Archivist Jonathan Sims is struck by the man's unorthodox demeanor and growing fascination with the more esoteric files. Harlan's confidence and disregard for authority immediately rub Sims the wrong way, but it is the young man's intense scrutiny of the Institute's occult materials that truly unnerves the archivist.
