Chapter 1: Into the chaos

Chapter Text

Five closed his eyes, only concentrating on one thing: getting his family safe. Vanya had literally blew up the moon (how had he not seen that coming after all these years in the apocalypse?) and he was their last hope.

He could feel the heat coming, the earth literally heating up at this point from the massive chunk of the moon hitting it.

“Hold on!” Five shouted, holding tightly onto his siblings hands.

With a whirl of blue color, the Hargreeves disappeared into nothingness.

~

Five fell from the sky, unable to avoid the scream that erupted from his mouth as he fell from the air. He narrowly missed hitting the hard metal lid of a dumpster, hitting the concrete ground instead.

He would’ve much preferred the dumpster.

Five rolled over, groaning in pain. It wasn’t that he wasn’t accustomed to pain, no. It was just that his thirteen year old body didn’t handle it as well.

He blinked blearily, looking up at the blue sky. Good. It wasn’t red and full of asteroids from the exploding moon. At least that was fixed. Now he had to figure out where or when he was.

Five slowly sat up, still in his academy uniform and looked around at the narrow alleyway he landed in. Why weren’t his siblings here?

Of course he had to mess it up.

AGAIN.

He groaned again and rubbed the heels of his hands in his eyes. Five sighed, slowly standing up and then immediately falling back onto the ground with a small ‘oof.’

Well that wasn’t normal.

His sense of balance was way off and he had a massive headache.

How on earth was he supposed to find his siblings and find out where he was if he couldn’t even stand up?!

Five immediately stiffened completely still as he heard the echoing of shoes on the pavement. He went on high alert, going to a defensive position and forgetting his stupid balance problem and falling over again with a wince.

A figure approved and Five tensed up, ready for anything.

“Hey there little fella!” A man’s voice said. Five couldn’t make out the face yet, his head still killed. He shuffled away from the man, backing into a corner.

“Woah, woah! It’s alright. I’m not gonna hurt you…” The man send in a surprisingly tender tone. Five knew not to let his guard down. Not ever.

The man’s face finally came into view. He wore sunglasses and a worried expression. More high-end casual clothing greeted him and he had a go-tee.

Five blinked a few times, trying to reorientate himself.

“G-Get a-away…” Five slurred, his voice a lot weaker than he would’ve liked. He curled his fists, attempting a jump.

The man looked at him quizzically as he clenched his fists and closed his eyes until his knuckles turned white. Crap. He was out of fuel. The time jump must’ve done it.

“It’s okay, buddy. I’m here to help.” The man approached cautiously, holding up his hands in a defenseless gesture.

Five narrowed his eyes, looking at the man with the feeling of the headache worsening.

He grabbed his head, a sharp pain echoing inside, making the headache worse.

The man’s expression grew worried, him taking a step forward.

“You okay? You don’t look to goo-“

Before the man could finished, Five blacked out, the peace of sleep and not pain returning once more.
