”that’s so cliche but in the end it all comes back to you. So sick of being sober pretending this isn’t a song about you”

Peter admits it: he's falling helplessly in love with Harley Keener, the boy who has been living at the Avengers Tower with them for 2 months now. He thought the silly crush would go away eventually, right? WRONG. He couldn’t sleep because all he could think about were the sandy blonde hair and the southern accent that made Peter’s heart race, so that’s why he was awake at 2 am heading to the kitchen to get a drink.

He took the milk out of the fridge and poured a drink. He took a sip, but still he couldn’t get Harley out of his head. God, he was hopeless.

“Boo!” someone whispered into Peter’s ear, making him jump.

turning around Peter was met with none other than Harley Keener, the boy he couldn’t get out of his mind.

“Jesus, Harls, you almost gave me a heart attack.” Peter said he was still trying to calm down from the shock.

“Sorry, Pete, I thought you had your yk Peter tingle.” He passed by Peter, grabbing a glass from the cupboard.

“i do it just doesn't work for you.” Peter took another sip of milk.

“Cute,” Harley teased, making Peter blush.

“So why are you in the kitchen drinking milk at 2 am?” Harley asked

“Dairy products are notably rich in tryptophan, which helps you sleep,” Peter replied, pulling himself up to sit on the kitchen counter.

Harley hummed a response, pouring water in his glass cup, “What are you doing up?” He took a sip of water.

“Just a lot on my mind, yk how it is.” Peter fidgeted with the hem of his shirt. Gosh, why did he get so nervous around the boy?

“Do you know it’s possible to fall in love with someone in ten days?” he says to Peter, taking another drink of his water.

“Really? It’s kinda like that movie, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.” Peter laughs. Harley turns around to lean against the kitchen counter across from him.

There’s something casual yet deliberate about the way Harley leans back, his body relaxed but his gaze fixed on Peter. The kitchen counter behind him serves as his anchor, grounding him while his focus lingers on the boy in front of him. His posture is open and inviting, the kind of stance that says, I’m listening, even if I’m not saying much. Peter suddenly felt very vulnerable.

“Um, Harley, speaking of love, you got anyone on your mind?” This was Peter’s chance to find out if the boy liked someone or not.

“Hmm, yeah, I do.” He nodded, his glass still in his hand. “this is the most in love I've ever been, I think.” Harley chuckled.

Peter felt his heart break. Was Harley in love with someone that wasn't him?

Although as Spider-Man he may seem confident and outgoing, as Peter Parker he didn’t feel like that at all; he was insecure and shy, especially about his feelings for Harley. Harley seemed way out of his league; he was foolish to think he’d never have a chance.

Harley, the boy who was like the centre of Peter's universe, while he remained only a fleeting thought in Harley’s.

“Hmm, that person must be lucky.” Peter forced a smile. Hazley started again, “We’re close; we hang out almost every day. I just can’t get this boy’s image out of my head.” Peter couldn’t help but feel jealous of this mystery boy.

“It’s so embarrassing. Every time he talks to me, I can’t think straight. It’s like my heart’s racing whenever I see him. And my stomach does this weird flip. Like, I forget how to breathe.” Harley laughs.

“So what does this boy you're so in love with look like?” Peter asks, even though he knows it’ll hurt him, but he needs to be a good friend for Harley and has to stop this stupid crush.

“well His hair is thick and messy with dark brown curls, and his eyes—when you look into his eyes, there’s a depth there that most people never get to see. He’s been through so much, and yet he still believes in the good. It’s like no matter how many times life knocks him down, he always gets back up, ready to fight for what’s right.” Harley smiles to himself; he looks so in love it makes Peter hurt more wishing that it could be him.

Harley continues, “His personality is amazing, though he has the best sense of humour. He’s awkward and, of course, the biggest science nerd that has ever walked this planet, I swear—“ Peter’s heart skips a beat at that. Brown curls, fighting for what’s right, sense of humour, awkward, and a science nerd—something clicked in Peter’s mind. Harley couldn’t possibly be talking about him, right?

Harley walks up to stand in front of Peter, who’s still sitting on the kitchen counter. Peter couldn't bring himself to make eye contact with Harley.

“So what about you? Do you like anyone?” Harley asks Peter feels like his heart is beating out of his chest. “I—I do.”

“Really, what’s he like? It’s only fair you tell me since I told you.” Harley shrugs. Peter decides to take his chance. “Well, he gives off this boy-next-door kind of charm. He has blonde hair that’s for the most part, untamed. He’s often sarcastic and even cocky sometimes.” Peter continues, “He’s too out of my league, though I don’t think he’d ever like me back” Peter pouts.

“I think you should go for it. Maybe he is actually head over heels for you. I don’t know.” Harley shrugs.

“Hmm, I'm waiting for him to make the first move,” he says teasingly.

Harley suddenly put a hand under Peter’s chin, pulling the younger boy's face up to meet his gaze.

Can i kiss you? ” his eyes darting down at Peter’s lips his eyes carried a tinge of longing—patient and gentle—but beneath it simmered something sharper, more immediate: desire.

Peter gulped, “Yes.”

Before Peter could process, Harley's lips had met his in an instant. It was as though the world held its breath. Time slowed, the air between them charged with everything unspoken—words they’d never dared to say, glances that lingered too long, touches that burnt with restrained longing. When their lips finally met, it wasn’t rushed or hesitant but deliberate.

When they finally broke apart, their foreheads rested together, their breaths mingling in the quiet space between them. Neither dared to speak, as though words might shatter what they’d just created.

Peter, with some newfound confidence, wrapped his arms around Harley’s shoulders. “Oh, Keener, you are just so in love with me, aren’t you?” he teased

“Indeed I am, Parker, indeed I am.” He laughed, still not breaking eye contact with the spider-boy.

“Well, you're asking for this.” Peter barely had a second to process before Harley lunged forward, his hands darting to Peter’s sides.

“Wait—no! Harley, don’t you dare—” Peter’s protest broke into a startled laugh as Harley’s fingers dug mercilessly into his ribs, tickling him with no mercy.

“Oh, I dare,” Harley said, grinning wickedly as Peter squirmed under his hands.

“Harley!” Peter yelped, twisting on the counter in a desperate attempt to escape Harley’s reach. His uncontrollable laughter filling the room.

“What are you guys doing?” a voice that Peter made out to be Natasha asked, who looked half asleep, rubbing her eyes

The two boys looked at Nastsha before looking back at each other, bursting into a fit of laughter, leaving the avenger even more confused.
