Work Text:

Espresso and Madeleine went grocery shopping together. The original plan was just to get some of the essential items they needed for the week. A simple task, Espresso though. But of course, with that blond by his side, this was going to take a while.

Madeleine, being the social butterfly he was, stopped to chat with every person they passed, while Espresso quietly followed behind, trying to keep his irritation in check.

Madeleine's popularity attracted a lot of attention, and some people even stopped to ask for his autograph. Espresso, meanwhile, stood off to the side, rolling his eyes and checking his watch.

"Can we please get this over with?" Espresso grumbled.

Madeleine was too busy chatting with a group of fans to notice Espresso's jealousy. He laughed and joked with them, seemingly oblivious to his boyfriend's irritation.

Espresso stood off to the side, arms crossed and a scowl on his face. He tried to catch Madeleine's eye, but his boyfriend was too wrapped up in the conversation to notice.

Madeleine chuckled awkwardly, his smile just a little too forced. He loved his fans, he truly did, but sometimes he wished they would give him a little more space.

Madeleine quickly interrupted the conversation, saying apologetically, "Sorry, guys, I have to get back to my boyfriend. It was great chatting with you all."

He gave them a little wave and hurried off, trying to ignore the disappointed groans and protests of the fans.

Espresso felt a little relief as Madeleine finally wrangled his fans and they were able to continue their shopping unbothered.

As they moved to the next aisle, Madeleine grabbed him by the arm and pulled him close. "You don't need to be jealous, you know," Madeleine said with a smirk. "You're the only one I come home to every night."

Despite himself, Espresso felt a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Yeah, yeah," he said, trying to sound nonchalant. "I know that."

They continued to shop in silence for a few moments. Madeleine would occasionally stop to look at the new products on sale, while Espresso simply added whatever he usually bought to the cart.

After a while, Espresso noticed that Madeleine was lagging behind, his eyes drawn to a display of pastries and sweets.

He rolled his eyes again. "Seriously, Madeleine, we don't need anymore junk food."

"But they look so good!" Madeleine protested, his eyes wide and pleading. "And they're on sale."

Espresso let out a sigh. He knew he wouldn't win this argument. "Fine," he said, feeling a bit resigned. "But just one, okay?"

Madeleine grabbed two donuts from the display - one for himself and one for Espresso. He knew Espresso loved these sugar-coated donuts. It was quite surprising, even for Madeleine himself. How could someone with such a bitter tongue like something this sweet?, Madeleine thought. Maybe these were an exception.

"One for me, one for you~ Here you go," he said, smiling warmly. "Your favorite."

"You said only one- but...Thanks," Espresso replied, trying to sound nonchalant. But as he took a bite of the sweet, sugary pastry, a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. He couldn't deny that Madeleine's thoughtfulness was heartwarming sometimes.

Madeleine couldn't resist the urge to mess with Espresso. As he saw a bit of cream from the donut stuck to the corner of his boyfriend's mouth, he reached out and wiped it away with his finger.

Espresso's eyes widened in surprise, and he stared at Madeleine in disbelief. "Did you really just do that?" he asked, slightly flustered.

"Of course I did," Madeleine said, grinning, "You had cream on your face. I couldn't let it just sit there, now could I? It would make you look 'unprofessional', right?", Madeleine teased.

Espresso rolled his eyes, but the hint of a smile tugged at his lips. "You're insufferable, you know that?" he said, but there was no real annoyance in his voice.

"You love me," Madeleine said, winking.

Espresso huffed out a sigh, but couldn't deny it. "Yeah, I do," he said, shaking his head. "God only knows why."

"Maybe it's because I'm charming, handsome and the best man you've laid your eyes upon~," Madeleine teased.

"Maybe it's because you're a pain in the ass," Espresso retorted, but there was no sharpness in his tone.

Madeleine and Espresso made their way to the cashier and were standing at the checkout line. Madeleine had insisted on paying, and Espresso let him, knowing that it was a fight he wouldn't win.

The cashier rang up their groceries, and Madeleine handed over his credit card, a satisfied smirk on his face.

"You know, you don't have to pay every time we go shopping," Espresso said, as they packed their bags. "I can chip in too, you know."

Madeleine just shrugged. "I know," he said. "But I like treating you. You work hard, you deserve it. Besides, i love spoiling you"

"Well, I can't argue with that," Espresso said, giving his boyfriend a small but genuine smile.

As they walked out Madeleine insisted on carrying all the groceries in one trip. He balanced all the bags in his arms and struggled to keep them from falling. Espresso watched him, rolling his eyes.

"You know, we could make two trips. It wouldn't take that long."

Madeleine shook his head stubbornly. "Nope, I've got it. Just watch."

Madeleine was so focused on balancing the bags of groceries that he didn't notice the rock in his path. As his foot caught on it, he stumbled forward, losing his balance and dropping the bags in the process.

Thud

"Ow..!" he exclaimed, landing on the ground.

Espresso rushed over to him, worried. "Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"

When Espresso finally got a look at Madeleine's knee, he saw that the fall had torn his jeans and scraped the skin underneath. Slightly bleeding. Not that serious, but it did look like it hurt.

"Damn it, Madeleine," Espresso muttered, feeling a wave of annoyance course through him. "I told you not to carry all those bags at once. This is what happens when you're stubborn."

Madeleine winced as he touched his injured knee, flinching at the sting of pain. "I'm fine," he said, trying to brush it off.

Espresso shook his head. "No, you're not. You're bleeding. We need to clean that up."

"It's just a scratch. I've had worse," Madeleine protested, but Espresso wasn't having it.

"Just because you've had worse doesn't mean it doesn't hurt," he said, helping Madeleine to his feet. "We're going home, and I'm cleaning that up."

"Ugh...fine...", Madeleine pouted as Espresso helped him get up from the ground and led him to their car. Wincing a little.

"Why am i sitting in the passenger seat?", Madeleine asked, a little confused.

"I'm driving today", Espresso simply replied, "You're injured, idiot. I won't let you drive in this state", He said, picking up the grocery bags and putting them in the trunk.

Espresso got in the car and as they drove home, Madeleine continued to pout in the passenger seat. It was all a bit dramatic, but Espresso was used to his boyfriend's antics by now.

"Seriously, Maddie," he said, fighting back a smile. "You're being ridiculous."

"I'm not being ridiculous," Madeleine protested, crossing his arms.

"I'm injured." Espresso huffed out a laugh. "Yeah, a scraped knee. You're not dying, you know."

"It hurts," Madeleine said, wincing dramatically.

Espresso rolled his eyes again, but there was no malice in it. "Oh, you poor thing. How will you ever survive?" he teased.

Madeleine huffed in mock offense. "You're supposed to be sympathetic, you know. Not make fun of me."

Espresso chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll kiss it when we get home. How does that sound?"

Madeleine perked up at that, his pout turning into a small smile. "Promise?"

Espresso glanced at him, his expression softening. "Of course. I always keep my promises, don't I?"

"Yeah, I guess you do," Madeleine said, his mood improving. "I don't know why you're so whipped for me now, anyway. Remember how you used to hate me 2 years ago?"

Espresso let out a scoff. "I am not whipped for you."

Madeleine raised an eyebrow. "Uh, yeah, you are. You're like, totally in love with me."

Espresso grumbled and flushed slightly. "Shut up."

Madeleine just smirked. "See? You can't deny it."

Espresso mumbled something under his breath, trying to remain aloof. But deep down, he knew it was true. He was hopelessly whipped for his obnoxious, stupid, narcissistic boyfriend.

"Admit it," Madeleine taunted, leaning closer to him.

Espresso kept his eyes fixed on the road, refusing to look at him. "Never."

"Come on, just say it," Madeleine teased, poking him in the side.

Espresso swatted his hand away, but couldn't stop a small smile from forming on his face. "No way. You know I don't say that."

Madeleine was undeterred. "Oh, come on. Just this once. It won't kill you."

Espresso grumbled but eventually relented. "Fine. I love you."

"You're so stubborn," Madeleine said, shaking his head with a fond smile. "But you know I love you, right?"

Espresso blushed a little more, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and affection. "Yeah, yeah. I know."

Madeleine leaned over to place a gentle kiss on his cheek. "Good. Because I'm not going anywhere, you know. You're stuck with me."

Espresso rolled his eyes, but there was no real annoyance in it. "Lucky me," he said sarcastically.

Madeleine chuckled at Espresso's sarcastic comment, knowing how much he loved him despite his tough exterior. He couldn't help but find it endearing. "You love every minute of it, and you know it," he said, grinning slyly.

Espresso huffed, still trying to maintain his cool facade. "Please. As if I need your constant attention."

Madeleine just laughed. "Oh please, like you don't secretly love it when I dote on you and shower you with compliments."

Espresso snorted but couldn't deny it. "Maybe I do," he muttered begrudgingly.

"See? I knew it," Madeleine teased. "You can play cold and bitter all you want, but deep down, you're a softie."

Espresso tried to resist the urge to smile, but failed. "Only for you, idiot."

When they finally arrived home, Espresso parked the car and got out. Madeleine unbuckled his seatbelt and winced as he shifted his injured knee. "Mmmph..ugh, this sucks," he grumbled.

Espresso rolled his eyes but there was a hint of concern in his expression. "Come on, let's get you inside and cleaned up."

Madeleine limped his way to the front door, with Espresso following behind.

As soon as they were inside, Espresso gestured for Madeleine to sit down on the couch. "Sit down and stay put," he ordered. "I'll grab the first-aid kit."

Madeleine pouted but obeyed, settling onto the couch. "I don't see why you have to make such a big deal out of this," he grumbled. "It's just a scraped knee."

Espresso came back with the first-aid kit and sat down next to him. "It doesn't matter. You're hurt and I'm going to take care of you."

Espresso carefully cleaned Madeleine's scraped knee, wincing in sympathy when he saw how bad it looked.

"I told you not to carry all the groceries in a single trip...", he said, as he applied some antiseptic to the wound.

Madeleine tried to play it cool, but he couldn't help but grimace a little at the sting of the antiseptic. "It's not that big a deal," he said, trying to sound tough.

Espresso rolled his eyes, knowing his boyfriend was just putting on a brave face. "Sure it's not. That's why you're wincing like a child."

He gently applied the bandage and secured it in place. "There. All done."

Madeleine smirked as he looked down at the bandage and then looked up at Espresso. "Hey, can you do me a favor?"

Espresso raised an eyebrow, suspicious. "What is it?"

"Can you sign the bandage?" Madeleine asked, gesturing to his freshly bandaged knee.

Espresso looked at him incredulously. "You want me to sign your bandage? Are you serious?" Espresso just rolled his eyes but found himself smiling.

He grabbed a non-toxic marker and, with a resigned sigh, quickly drew a small heart on the bandage.

"There," he said, handing the marker back to Madeleine. "Happy now?"

"Ecstatic," Madeleine said, grinning like a little kid. He admired the heart on his bandage.

Espresso just shook his head, hiding a smile. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"

"Yeah, but you love me anyway," Madeleine said, giving him a cheeky grin.

Espresso couldn't deny it. "Unfortunately," he said, but there was fondness in his voice.

Madeleine settled back onto the couch, still admiring the heart on his bandage. "You know, I don't think I'm going to ever take this off now. I'm going to keep it forever."

Espresso huffed, pretending to be exasperated. "God, you're such a sap."

Madeleine tugged on Espresso's sleeve, trying to pull him closer. "Come here, you're too far away."

Espresso rolled his eyes but didn't resist. He settled down next to Madeleine, his arm around his waist and his head resting on his shoulder. "Happy now, idiot?" he asked teasingly.

Madeleine snuggled in closer, resting his head against Espresso's chest. "Extremely," he sighed, a satisfied smile on his face.

Espresso chuckled, but he couldn't deny that he enjoyed the closeness too. He idly played with Madeleine's long blond hair, running his fingers through the soft strands.

Espresso let out a scoff, but there was no malice in it. "You know, you're a lot heavier than you look," he teased, grunting a little as Madeleine leaned against him.

Madeleine chuckled, knowing that Espresso was jokingly referring to his muscular stature. "Mph...rudee, is that how you talk to the love of your life?"

Espresso simply rolled his eyes and held the blonde close. Continuously brushing his hair and playing with it.

As they cuddled, Madeleine looked up at Espresso with a cheeky smile. "Hey, I have an idea."

Espresso raised an eyebrow, curious. "What is it?" Before he could respond, Madeleine leaned in and planted a quick, unexpected kiss on his lips.

Espresso's eyes widened in surprise, but he couldn't help but giggle. "Oh my gosh, Madeleine" he said, affection in his voice.

"What? You didn't see that coming?" Madeleine said, feigning innocence.

Espresso just shook his head, a smile on his face. "You're impossible."

Madeleine just laughed and snuggled back into his embrace, feeling content - he loved him dearly.

As they continued to cuddle on the couch, the exhaustion from their long day finally settled in. Madeleine's eyelids felt heavy and he suppressed a yawn. Espresso noticed and gave him a gentle nudge.

"You're getting sleepy, huh?", he said, his own voice slightly tired.

Espresso reached over to grab the nearby blanket, pulling it over both of them. He wrapped his arms around Madeleine, holding him close.

"Comfy?" he asked, his eyes starting to droop as well.

"Mhm..."

Espresso felt Madeleine shift under the blanket, pulling him closed and holding his hands. He leaned his head against him, feeling the drowsiness washing over him.

"Goodnight," he whispered, his voice soft and affectionate. "Love you."

"Love you too... I'm so lucky to have you" Madeleine said, as they both drifted off to a comfortable sleep, holding eachother closely.
