Work Text:
“…And I got this one boy,” Buck pointed at Eddie who was in the passenger's seat, “And he won't stop calling. When they act this way, I know I got ‘em.”
Buck continued singing and dancing, while driving, as Eddie looked at him with pure love written all over his face.
While the rest of the 118 were at work and out saving lives, Buck and Eddie were going to be spending their day off at Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour.
Eddie was really excited when he was able to win the battle of Ticketmaster and score two tickets for him and his boyfriend to go see Sabrina, Buck’s favorite artist
When Eddie surprised Buck with the tickets, Buck was absolutely elated. He wasted no time and immediately got to work on putting their outfits together.
That was of course after a sweet thank you kiss, turned into a long make out session on Eddie’s couch.
A common occurrence for them.
Nonetheless, Eddie didn’t care what he wore as long as it put a smile on Buck’s face.
Which is how he ended up in matching tops Buck DIY’d, inspired by Sabrina’s iconic heart cutout dress, or so Eddie has been told. He isn’t really up to date with everything about Sabrina, but he still adores her music.
Thus, Eddie was rocking the black version of her heart cutout dress, while Buck stuns in the yellow.
Buck couldn’t take all the credit, Maddie and Mara were a big contributor to the shirts actually coming out good. Jee-Yun helped too, but she put more glue and sequins all over her hands, than the actual shirts themselves.
When Buck showed up at Eddie’s house the night they finished the shirts, he was beaming and proud of them. It took everything in Eddie to not get down on one knee and propose right then and there. He truly loved this man.
That was a month ago.
Flashing forward to present day, Eddie still loves Buck, if not even more.
Further emphasizing the reasons to love him, Buck stopped singing and spoke, “It’s just like us!”
“What is?” Eddie was too busy staring at Buck and reminiscing that he wasn’t really paying attention.
“The lyrics, about honey bees and perfuming. It’s like when we got the call during the beenado fiasco, when Chim and I perfumed you. Well it was my idea.” Buck continued rambling, “Actually, did you know honey bees can recognize human faces? Isn’t that so cool? Their eyes identify the patterns of our faces!”
Eddie continued staring at his boyfriend, smiling, not believing his luck in finding a love like this.
Eddie reached over, taking Buck’s hand in his, intertwining their fingers.
“I didn’t know that!”
Buck went on about more bee facts, stopping every once in a while to sing Sabrina’s songs that were playing.
When they arrived at the parking lot, it was around 5pm. Buck wanted to get there early to be able to buy merch and make sure they knew where their seats were.
The two walked to the arena, from the parking lot, hand in hand.
Buck was practically bursting out of his skin in excitement the whole day leading up to getting there, so when they actually got there, these feelings were heightened to the max.
They got in and waited in the merch line for about an hour before they got to the front and Buck bought the pair matching tour shirts.
They were getting ready to head to their seats when they were approached by a lady.
“Hi, my name is Kat, sorry to bother the two of you. I noticed your outfits and I had to come over and compliment them!”
“Thank you!” Buck and Eddie replied at the same time.
“May I ask? Did you make these yourselves?”
”I can’t take any credit, it was all Buck here,” Eddie beamed looking up at Buck who wore the same expression on his face.
”Well, my sister and nieces helped!” Buck blushed.
“Well, you all did amazing! I’m actually here going around and taking a poll on what everyone’s favorite Sabrina songs are. Would you mind being a part of it?”
”Of course! “ Buck smiled, “I can go first, but choosing is so hard! I love them all, but if I had to choose, top three would probably be Fast Times, Juno, and On Purpose!”
“Okay we have some deeper cuts in there!” Kat applauded. She turned and asked Eddie, “What about you, hun?”
Since Eddie made it his mission to engage himself in all of Buck’s interests, he was able to confidently respond, “Because I Liked A Boy and Don’t Smile!”
“Those are some really great one’s aren’t they!” Kat paused before reaching for something out of her pocket, “I see you two are big fans. How would you like to spend the night with floor seats?”
Eddie had to hold half of Buck’s weight as his knees began to buckle. Buck was rendered speechless. Kat handed Eddie two tickets that would grant them access to the floor.
“We would love that!” Eddie was looking at Buck, who looked like he was going to burst at any second, “Thank you!”
Kat complimented their outfits again, and walked away smiling.
“Buck, you have to say something,” Eddie was still looking up at Buck.
“This is not real life.”
Eddie chuckled, “It is!”
”Wait, but you specially got us tickets in the seats, I don’t want to take it away from you,” Buck shook himself out of the daze he was in, looking very seriously at Eddie.
“Oh baby, I love you,” Eddie caressed Buck’s cheek with his hand, “This is even better, let’s head to the floor!”
Buck didn’t object again, as they headed down the stairs to the stage.
Buck’s plan of getting there early helped, as there were not many people at the barricade.
The stage was right there, right in front of them, and Buck could not contain his joy. He craned his neck down and kissed Eddie, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Best night ever!”
“It hasn’t even started yet, Buck!” Eddie grinned as they broke apart, Buck turning and putting his hands on the bar in front of him.
”I know, but just being here with you is enough to make it the best!”
Eddie falls more and more in love with this man by the minute.
“Careful now! With words like that I might just let you make me Juno.”
Buck and Eddie both laughed.
They waited around at the barricade for about two hours before the show started, every now and again getting complimented by fellow Carpenters on their outfits. Buck even went as far as to make concert friends with some of them.
Eddie loved seeing Buck this happy, he definitely deserved it after everything he’s been through.
And seeing Buck happy, made Eddie extraordinarily happy, a win-win really.
The concert had started and Buck was screaming at the top of his lungs. The intro visuals started and Buck was muttering how he thought Sabrina’s entrance was absolutely iconic.
If Buck hadn’t completely lost it, he definitely did when she did the big reveal of her outfit. Sabrina opened up the towel and her bodysuit was yellow, almost exactly matching the color of his DIY’d outfit.
Buck was so stunned and even cried a little, overcome with emotions, as he screamed, “SHE'S SO PERFECT!”
All Eddie could do was look up at Buck and how excited he was, and join in on the excitement, screaming and cheering with him.
The concert was a blur full of many feelings. Some of the songs really got to Buck, as he used to relate to some of them, like Tornado Warnings, but he was now glad he was in a relationship that didn’t make him feel that way anymore.
Of course he danced to Feather and screamed his heart out to Fast Times. Eddie even sang along to most of them, especially his favorite because i liked a boy.
Although the rest of the performances were amazing, Buck was most excited to hear Juno. Part of him likes to say it reminds him of himself and Eddie, so Eddie making his joke early was the cherry on top.
The time of the night finally came and Sabrina was getting ready to begin her Juno arrest. The most unexpected thing happened when Sabrina walked over to stand in front of Buck and Eddie, in her yellow Juno outfit.
She made a speech and in the middle of it she said, “I’m sorry, I’m getting so distracted by these men over her. Girls, can you get out here?”
Sabrina’s backup dancers rushed to the stage.
“Wow he is just so hot! What’s your name? Right there in the black top?” Sabrina pointed right at Eddie.
At this point Buck was practically jumping up and down.
”Eddie!” Eddie was trying to keep his cool, sure Buck was the bigger Sabrina fan, but he’d be damned if he didn’t admit he loved her as well.
”Eddie, wow, who is that next to you?”
Sabrina’s gaze flickered over to Buck, who was looking like he might faint, but also still trying to keep it cool like Eddie.
“That’s my boyfriend Buck!” Eddie yelled over the screaming fans, while turning to Buck, “Say something, baby!”
“HI SABRINA!” Buck shouted excitedly.
Sabrina giggled and waved at him.
“Well hi there Buck, looks like we’re twinning, what a coincidence!”
Sirens invaded the arena, while red and blue lights flashed. Buck lost it.
“Well I’m going to have to call the police on you Buck and Eddie because you guys are just the hottest couple.” Sabrina confessed. “I’m getting butterflies especially from the ass you have on you Eddie…and those muscles Buck!”
She continued, “Oh my god you’ve made my clothes fall off!!”
Sabrina’s long skirt was now on the floor, revealing a shorter version of it underneath.
Sabrina giggled, grabbing pink handcuffs from her dancer.
“Buck here these are for you,” Sabrina said as she bent down to hand him the handcuffs and wink, “You two can use them later.”
Sabrina walked away blowing kisses at the two of them.
Buck and Eddie just looked at each other in pure shock, like they couldn’t believe that just happened. They were still in shock as the song continued, but still singing through it, very curious as to what position she was going to do tonight.
Sabrina opted for laying on her side and kicking her leg up, transforming herself into the splits.
The crowd went wild, especially Buck.
“Hey, have we ever tried that one?” Buck crouched down to whisper in Eddie’s ear over all the noise.
Buck turned his head so Eddie could whisper back in his ear,
”No we haven’t- If you want to subject yourself to doing the splits on my dick by all means go ahead, I’m not doing it,” Eddie laughed.
”We’ll see about that,” Buck threatened. Now they were both laughing, zoning back into the concert and singing along again.
It was rounding the end of the concert by the time Juno ended, leaving three songs left.
Eddie was excited to hear Don’t Smile, it being one of his favorite songs he mentioned earlier. Buck beamed as he saw Eddie singing along to the whole thing.
Sabrina then left the stage, leaving just before her encore. When she arose from the stage, she held a coffee mug in her hand. She did her bit where she ran around the stage trying to get everyone to wake up.
Sabrina asked if everyone needed a little bit of espresso and the crowd screamed, “The people came to see the song, wake up! Do you need some espresso? What do you guys need? C’mon!”
As she began to sing Espresso, Buck wrapped his arms around Eddie, from behind, kissing the top of his head and swaying to the music. Buck, still holding the fuzzy pink handcuffs in his hand, as they dangle on Eddie’s chest.
Both of them were singing along to the song, remembering the conversation they had in the car earlier about the lyrics.
Buck and Eddie had the same thought, simultaneously, that this was the best end, to the best night, with the best man.
