Summary
In this fictional story set in an original universe called Hiraeth, the metalcore band Toad Biscuit, led by Rexar and Vaelyn (Vee) nears the end of an intense three-week tour. Vaelyn, determined not to miss a single performance, pushes himself to keep going despite catching a severe cold. His worsening condition—marked by relentless sneezing fits, a painful cough, and exhaustion—concerns Rexar and Kriia, but Vaelyn refuses to rest.
During soundcheck, it’s clear he’s struggling, and by showtime, he’s barely functional. After a series of mistakes on stage and an overwhelming sneezing fit, Vaelyn is forced to leave mid-performance, retreating backstage in defeat. Kriia finds him collapsed in the bathroom and convinces him to return to the tour bus to rest.
Before Vaelyn leaves, Rexar announces to the crowd that Vaelyn is too sick to continue. The fans respond with sympathy and support, a moment that deeply moves Vaelyn, reminding him that he’s cared for beyond his music. The story highlights themes of resilience, camaraderie, and learning to accept help when needed.
