Kara was doing her best to give them the Supergirl glare but it was undermined by her refusal to actually look at any of them. The trio did her the courtesy of appearing slightly abashed but there was a tiny bit of tension between them that could be a sign of impending laughter.
Kara took a deep breath to calm herself and immediately regretted it as the various pheromones she could smell in the air served as confirmation of what she could already see was true. She very carefully asked, "Why are you naked in my bed?"
"We'll change the sheets." Maggie offered this instead of an explanation.
"And wash this set for you." Alex added helpfully.
She nodded her thanks, but also crossed her arms to show that this basic courtesy wasn't being accepted in lieu of an explanation.
Maggie and Alex looked at each other then both of them looked at Lucy.
Lucy, despite lying naked in bed with two beautiful, also naked women, somehow managed to transform into JAG attorney Major Lane as she took a breath of her own and replied. "Yesterday evening, following the successful apprehension of an alien being who caused superficial damage to much of the city, Agent Danvers, Officer Sawyer, and myself found our way to our own domicile blocked by large quantities of noxious debris."
Kara winced in memory of the mess.
She continued. "Alternative methods of getting through the city being unavailable--"
"You told me to clean it up!" Kara couldn't help blurting a protest and immediately regretted it as it felt like her high ground was slipping.
The Major ignored her and repeated, "alternative methods of getting through the city being unavailable, we sought shelter from the nearest safe location accessible to us, whereupon we also proceeded with decontamination procedures which necessitated removal of our gear and attire, as well as use of the local bathing facilities."
"We'll also wash the towels." Maggie interjected.
"After decontamination procedures were completed, there being no immediate threat to the city or job duties requiring our attention, we sought to rest and recover." She nodded her head once in finality.
"That doesn't explain--," Kara cut off where that was leading and stood for a moment in frustration before throwing her hands in the air, calling over her shoulder as she turned to stomp out of the room, "I have spare pajamas and you all know where they're kept!" She shut the bedroom door on her way out.
Lucy replied to this, knowing Kara could hear, "Given we were then off duty and our personal attachment, we logically sought to deal with the psychological aftermath of the attack by providing each other with comfort and physical contact."
Even through the closed door they could all hear the frustrated sound Kara made before she called, "The city is cleaned up and I'm going to get donuts!" There was a whoosh as Supergirl fled the building and the possibility of any details.
And suddenly Major Lane was gone, replaced by a grinning Lucy as her girlfriends dissolved into laughter on either side of her. She asked rhetorically, "You think that might have been too much?"
Maggie answered her question with a question. "Logical to provide 'comfort and physical contact', huh?" Which set Alex off giggling again just as her initial laughter started to slow.
The grin on Lucy's face turned slightly salacious. "We were all still running on adrenaline and naked. You think it wasn't the logical outcome?" Her raised eyebrow was belied by the twinkle in her eyes.
"Oh, no argument from me, counselor." Maggie's eyes danced back at her. "It's just the first time I've ever heard 'fucked each other into exhaustion' described as logical."
For a moment, the air in the room grew charged again before Alex regretfully introduced practicality. "We'd better get dressed before Kara gets back." This suggestion was sensible and though they all followed through with reluctance they were dressed and had their gear gathered by the door out of the apartment before Kara came back through the window carrying six dozen donuts.
Kara gave a small nod of approval at their clothed state then frowned at the speculative and slightly avaricious looks they gave her donuts. She turned partially away from them hugging the stack of boxes closer to her body possessively. "I didn't get enough to share."
Alex snorted. "Of course not, wouldn't dream of depriving you. We're just on our way out." She picked up a laundry bag containing the sheets and towels, holding it up for her sister to see. "We'll bring these back later this week."
Kara nodded her thanks, finally setting down her stack of boxes and opening the lid on the top one, clearly impatient for their departure now that she had her own post-conflict comfort.
Down on the street, they all looked at each other for a moment. "So," Alex drawled, "donuts?" Maggie and Lucy nodded fervently in response.
"Then we can go home and provide additional comfort and physical contact to each other." Maggie's grin was mischievous. This suggestion got even more fervent approval.
