Clark loves his mom, but he's always been curious about where he came from. When Supergirl appears on the news, he becomes convinced that, because of their shared powers, she must be his biological mother. But it's not like he can just call her up on the phone and ask to meet. Nope. Supergirl only shows up when someone needs saving... So, Clark's best idea is to dangle himself off the side of the L-Corp tower and wait.
And then Kara shows up and meets the cousin she believed dead and the love of her life, all in one fell swoop.

“I come with a lot of baggage,” Lena said suddenly, as if she couldn’t help herself. “You’ve… heard about my family, I’m sure.”
Alex nodded. Everyone had heard about the Luthors, of course. Although Alex tried to remember what she’d read about the youngest child aside from Clark’s interview and found that she really didn’t know much.
Lena’s voice was brusque as she said, “Well, it’s a raw deal for you, getting stuck with me. It doesn’t have to… it doesn’t have to mean anything.”
Alex frowned at that. “I come with baggage too,” she protested. “I have a job I can’t talk about, and family secrets I can’t share. I’m going to hurt you.”
“Great,” Lena grumbled. “We’re all set then. One of us is definitely going to get wrecked over this.”
