Chapter Text

Caitlyn had the same schedule every day of the week, no matter how things got complicated, she always stuck to it. About every day it was the same, wake up and go to work at the Piltover Police Department, a possible lunch break, then return to her apartment and work more and sleep and repeat. The weekends also were packed, woke up and usually did her errands like visiting her parents, buying groceries or just at home by herself working on more police reports.

The only day of the week that was different from the others was Tuesday. On Tuesdays, Caitlyn was given a one-hour window of time. Instead of heading to work at 8:00 a.m., she could go at 9:00 a.m. With that one-hour window of time, she could have a slow morning and make her way to work with ease. Every Tuesday on her way to work, she would end up stopping by a local coffee shop with about thirty minutes to spare.

Caitlyn enjoyed coming here, the coffee here was just amazing and tasted so good, and the atmosphere was so calming Caitlyn could come back every day and-

     "Hey, Caitlyn!-"

Oh yeah, the sexy-as-hell barista that Caitlyn had a massive raging crush on.

Vi leaned on the counter as Caitlyn walked forward and gave a soft smile. "Your usual I'm guessing?"

Caitlyn nodded "Of course." She watched as Vi yanked a cup from the rack and wrote Caitlyn's name on it before punching the numbers in on the register for her to pay. The whole time Caitlyn was just staring at Vi's features, the woman looked a little younger than her, possibly by a couple of months. The apron snuggled around Vi's body as she looked at the black shirt the barista had on, hugging her thick biceps. Caitlyn had a fond of Vi's freckles on her face as they contrasted with those powder blue eyes and the red hair streaking on her face.

The name tag on Vi's apron had a sticker or two on it. With the name Violet printed on it except the "olet" part of Vi's name was written out by a marker, it wasn't a good marker though, with that part of her name still seeable through the ink.

Vi passed the card reader to Caitlyn for her to pay for her drink, while Caitlyn inserted her credit card, she tried to make some small talk.

      "So...how's your week been?"

Vi looked at Caitlyn and shrugged. "Same ol' same ol' Cupcake. Nothing special."

     Cupcake.

Caitlyn's cheeks lit up with red at the name, but she tried to pull it off though, she nodded her head as she removed her card with the payment being successful.

"Ok, just give me a sec and it'll be ready Cait." Vi winked at her before grabbing the cup and walking to where the coffee machine and all the appliances were to make the coffee. Caitlyn moved to the side, the Cafe had people in it chatting and talking as they sat down enjoying their beverages, it was a nice background noise as Caitlyn watched Vi grab things with ease and make the drink.

Caitlyn met Vi a couple of months ago, and that's when Vi started working at the place. Caitlyn barely came to the shop then, usually on such terrible days when she was so tired she could barely stand that she would just rush in and grab something. When she came here before Vi started working there, the usual people always ended up spelling her name wrong. It never necessarily bothered her, but it happened. Instead of Caitlyn, it was usually written as Caitlin or even Kaitlyn. When she first met Vi, it was because it was the first time anyone at the place had gotten it right.

Caitlyn was standing waiting for her order in a hurry, she was exhausted for the day as she had to stay up late working on this one case, a long and complex one which made it all the worse. Her foot was slightly tapping as her arms were crossed covering her police badge.

"Order for Caitlyn." The person said as she placed the drink on the pickup counter. Caitlyn quickly grabbed her drink about to just take a sip and leave, but she stopped halfway and looked at the cup.

In fine marker, her name was spelled correctly. Caitlyn.

Caitlyn doesn't know why but she just stared at it. It was just random, she didn't know why she felt an immense amount of joy just by having her name on a cup.

"Uh, is something wrong with your drink ma'am." The worker asked.

Caitlyn turned, her eyes widened she hadn't seen this employee yet.

"Uh no, of course not!" Caitlyn spoke a little rushed and embarrassed. "This may sound stupid, It's just...this is the first time my name has been spelled right."

The worker smiled and let out a soft laugh. "Oh thank Janna. I thought I screwed up for a moment."

Caitlyn looked at the worker's name tag, Vi was engraved on it. "Are you new here? I haven't seen you here before."

Vi rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. "Yep, that's why I asked if everything was alright. I was the one who made ur coffee, I got worried that I messed up while making it."

"That's understandable," Caitlyn replied and took a first sip of her drink. Vi looked at Caitlyn with slight anticipation. Caitlyn’s eyes widened as she drank it, she looked at Vi. "That was the best coffee I've probably ever have had here."

    Vi's eyes widened. "Really?"

    Caitlyn smiled. "Yes really!"

Vi let out the most relieved sigh of her life, she probably felt so relieved that she was able to not screw up an order. Caitlyn stopped talking and looked up at those soft eyes that Vi had. She managed to get lost in them for a second, she somehow managed to snap back into reality, as she checked the time on her watch.

Shit. She had 5 minutes left to get to work

"I- I would love to talk more but I'm about to be late for work." Caitlyn rushed up as she started to back away.

"Oh! Okay then...I hope to see you around again...Caitlyn it is, right?" Vi questioned

Caitlyn smiled and nodded her head, signifying to Vi that she was correct. Vi perked up and smiled, watching as Caitlyn gave a small wave before having to walk away and out of the cafe.

Caitlyn just started coming by more often, eventually turning into a weekly endeavor, which ended up with her interacting with Vi so much that she gained a big crush on the barista. Caitlyn doesn't know what to do with her crush though, she has too busy of a work schedule to have anything to do with it. Her days and even weekends are packed. She has no choice but to set it aside to focus on her life. Even though in the back of her mind she always wonders what it's like to be in a relationship with someone such as Vi.

Vi smiled as she walked over with Caitlyn's drink setting it right down in front of her on the pickup table.

"Your usual, just the way you like it." Vi smiled.

Caitlyn picked it up and took a sip and set the drink down. "Thanks, Vi."

Vi shrugged. "No need to thank me, it's my job after all. Also, when are you gonna finally decide to order something else off our menu?" Vi gestured to the huge menu hanging from the ceiling.

Caitlyn laughed softly. "Don't know, but hey it might happen soon."

"Either way, I don't mind making the same thing for you," Vi smirked.

The two talked just a tad bit more as Caitlyn was getting more starstruck by how Vi was and acted. It set off this fuzzy feeling inside her, they kept on going until they were interrupted.

"Yo Vanderson! Stop yapping and help me unload the supply truck!"

Vi turned and hollered back. "On it boss!" She turned back to Caitlyn. "Sorry, gotta go now. I'll see you later Caitlyn." Vi gave a big smile and walked away into the back part of the cafe.

Caitlyn stood there for a second, before turning on her heels walking out of the establishment, and sitting in her car setting her coffee in the cupholder. For some reason, she had an immense feeling of longing, the longing to just get her head out of her ass and busy life and just hurry up and ask Vi out on a date before someone ends up snatching Vi up.

Caitlyn knew Vi was single, she randomly mentioned it once during one of their chats a couple of weeks ago. Vi didn't date, she mentioned that since she has a big family she has never really had the time to. Same with Caitlyn, her life is very busy, causing her to never have the time as well.

She shrugged her feelings off deciding to stop thinking about it and just hurry up to work, she had about fifteen minutes left and the faster she went the faster she might leave, so she started up her car and quickly left the parking lot.

The rest of the week was a bit of a blur, with nonstop police work and late nights working on all of her reports. But now it's the weekend, Sunday to be exact, the day she usually visits her parents. Except they weren't here this weekend, they went on a trip to Ionia to visit her mother Cassandra's parents. Leaving Caitlyn with a big block of time which she has nothing to do with. She did her chores, she had enough groceries and because of her late nights she didn't have any reports to do for the weekend. It was odd having nothing to do.

Caitlyn sat on her couch, with nothing to do, she just stared out the window of her apartment with a blank stare. Until her phone rang, she fished it out of her pocket and looked at it. It was Jayce, bombarding Caitlyn with messages.

[Jayce] 12:35

Yo sprout Viktor and I are bored, want to hang out?

[Jayce] 12:37

pleaseeeeeee I will buy u food or whatever 😭

Caitlyn smiled and typed a reply.

                                                              [Caitlyn] 12:38

Ok fine, I'll drop by your place.

[Jayce] 12:40

THANKS SPROUT YOU'RE THE BEST!

Caitlyn stopped by Jayce's house, dressed in just some jeans and a shirt waiting for the door to be answered. Jayce burst open the door to the point the hinges could've broken off by the sheer force

"Sprout! It's so good to see you!" Jayce exclaimed as he drew Caitlyn in for a hug.

"Hey, Jayce," Caitlyn spoke as she hugged him back and then pulled away seeing his beard growing back. "Growing out the beard?"

Jayce rubbed his chin and smirked. "Thought it would be a change. Mel likes it."

"In my opinion, he looks homeless," Viktor spoke from the inside his accent thick as he flips through a book.

"If Mel likes it then, I dont look homeless Vik!" Jayce shouted back in his house. "Oh yeah by the way Caitlyn, Viktor and I want to go get a drink from the cafe near your work, do you mind?"

Caitlyn froze, the same cafe Vi works at. She stood silent for a moment and got to the point where Jayce even checked his watch to see how much time had passed. Eventually, Caitlyn speaks.

"Yeah- sure it's fine." Caitlyn squeaked.

"Okay then, let's get going!" Jayce gave a big grin to Caitlyn who smiled in return.

She really hopes Vi's not working this weekend.
