Chapter Text
A simple resolve. What does that mean to you?
Name something you can see.
My hands. My fingers. No, my gloves. The night sky.
Things you can feel.
My feet on the ground. The wind licking my back.
Things you can hear.
The rustle of grass. The faint cheers of merriment from far away.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
I’m getting impatient.
He said he would be here about…40 minutes ago. You’d think for such a fast guy he wouldn’t be late to anything.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
If he’s so determined to be my friend, I should tell him I don’t really like to be kept waiting. That would only get in our way, right? What if this was a date? Would he leave the poor unsuspecting person waiting for him? Would he stand them up?
Tap.
This time I stop tapping my foot. I think I hear him. The quick gait of feet… it must be.
Sure enough, a blue figure is rapidly approaching. The closer he gets, the more I can see his frantic expression.
He stops. Clutches a hand to his chest. He’s laughing, which doesn’t help him catch his breath.
“I’m—really sorry—haah..I got—precoccupied. You…weren’t waiting too long, were you?” He practically chokes out, still bent over.
“Not too long.” I don’t know why I’m lying. I’ve been here for an hour now. But it’s worth it when—
“Oh! Thank goodness! I’m really..really sorry about
that, Shadow. I promise I’ll make it up to you!” He straightens up and gives me a full thrown-back beam. He then grabs my wrist and tugs me forward.
“Come on! Due to my…lateness…we gotta hurry! Come on!”
He tugs harder, and I let him tug me.
I think I really hate Sonic The Hedgehog.
