Chapter 1: Will you fall for me?

Chapter Text

For the sake of socioeconomy and political interests, their last prince Hamin ended up getting married to a commoner named Bonggu. Except, this commoner is not really an ordinary one. He's one of the five class A wizards in the Caligo kingdom. These five were chosen to be the royal wizards and they're considered as their kingdom's precious treasure that actively contribute to the safety of the people and the territory as a whole.

All five wizards have their own abnormal ability slash superpower; one can foreseen future, can sense evil spirit, can selectively vanish people's memory, can generate four elements of nature and can cure every disease. But all these powers come at a price; if they misuse their power for personal advantage, they'll be facing a great punishment that may also include death. There are certain rules for each power that they have to follow, such as everyone's fate is meant to be remained. Any attempt to completely change it is considered interfering the work of God, and that is wrong. The only thing they can do once they know what's coming in the near future is trying to be prepared, minimize the casualties or lessen the negative result without interrupting the main course. This can be quite tricky, they have to be extra careful in every action and reaction.

The wizards are now inside the makeup room. "Awww... look at that big smile. Someone is so happy right now~" Han Noah, a wizard with future foreseen ability, snickers teasingly upon seeing the youngest can't stop smiling since morning. Of course, duh. A certain someone is going to marry his long-time crush, of course he would be happy.

"Hyung, noona! Can you believe this?! I'm gonna marry Prince Hamin!" Bonggu can't even hide the excitement in his voice. The other four in the room chuckle endearingly at the second youngest wizard. "I'm not dreaming!"

"Yes, darling, yes. It's real. Congratulations." The eldest one named Maria smiles and pinches lightly the blushed cheek infront of her. Each of them knows just how much love and how long Bonggu had kept it towards their last prince. Growing up as a wizard especially the A-class one, he couldn't be like any other kids his age who got to play around and had some fun outside. He had to spend most of his time in the library, reading books and learn to control his power.

Bonggu's powers are to cure any disease and read people's mind by touching. Except the latter one is a secret he never let anyone knows. That's also the biggest reason he didn't go out to play with another kids. So many thoughts that he could read every time he touched them by accident while playing, it was so scary for the barely six years old Bonggu. Therefore, he preferred to just stay inside the library, reading books instead of people's minds.

Knock, knock.

"Bonggu nim, are you ready?" A royal maid peeks an eye into the room. She smiles as the bride of the day is looking pretty in his pinkish white wedding attire along with all the necessary accessories. The other four wizards are ready in their beautiful outfits too. "Shall we go now? Everyone is waiting."

"His Highness is there too, right?!"

"Of course he is~ This is his occasion too."

Then, they leave the room and head to a main hall for the wedding ceremony. Bonggu was excited only few minutes ago but now that the real deal is here right Infront of him, he's getting so nervous. Gladly not to the extent that he needs a toilet. Wide smile appears on his face as soon as his eyes meet the prince, his soon-to-be husband.

Prince Hamin in his neat black attire with red motifs and the slightly different headgear than usual, looking extra majestic and charismatic. Sure, still with that infamous lazy gaze and cold expression. And.... did he just divert his gaze away when his eyes meet Bonggu's?

Ah, right.

Bonggu forgot just how one-sided all of these actually were. To him, prince Hamin is his first love, his only love. But it's different case for prince Hamin. There was even a rumor spreading around last year about him being in a secret relationship with Kyuri, a princess from the neighboring kingdom. But the rumor remained rumor until now, none of the royal family members nor Hamin himself confirming or denying it.

"Now that our groom and bride are here, we can start now." The priest signaling Bonggu to quickly take a seat on the empty cushion beside the prince. There will be a set of ritual needs to be completed by both the couple according to the royal traditions such as exchanging vows and rings, pouring tea for each other, forehead kissing by the groom and many others.

The first and second son, prince Haejun and prince Taesuk can also be seen here along with the king and queen, few feet away from the royal households and the guests that attending this wedding ceremony. A lot of commoners and folks are already gathering outside the palace neighborhood, forming a large crowd. Everybody is excited and looking forward to this day as it's one of the most memorable days for Caligo kingdom. Nobody wants to miss this historical event.

As much as he strongly despised the idea of this marriage, prince Hamin isn't that childish to let it be shown through his action or words infront of everyone in this hall and the people of kingdom. He still treats Bonggu the way he should, not to embarrass the bride in front of others. For a second, Bonggu thought the feeling was mutual. At least, Prince Hamin is so good in acting.

Soon, it's the arrival of royal families from neighboring kingdoms. Bringing gifts, paying respect and congratulating the newlyweds. The relationship rumor between prince Hamin and the neighboring princess is just a mere rumor, at least that's what Bonggu wants to believe, but when he notices how the prince lets his eyes linger on that princess a little too long the moment she steps into the hall,....

Bonggu can't help but feeling bothered.

He mentally sighs, realising he's nothing if compared to that gorgeous princess. She looks so beautiful today in her light blue royal dress, dark long hair neatly braided and tied with flower accessories. Feminine feature, gentle manner, she's just in a whole different class. Even if the rumor is true, Bonggu truly gets it. If she's prince Hamin's ideal type, Bonggu truly gets it after all.

Another sigh, but this time it escapes his lips. And this time the prince beside him catches that and now stealing a glance at him, judging because what was the wizard sighing for? Wasn't he the one liking this marriage idea so much?

And yes, prince Hamin knows about Bonggu's not-so-tiny crush on him, because let's be honest, who doesn't? Bonggu can be too obvious sometimes, and the only person in this world who still doesn't notice how obvious he gets is probably just himself 💀 He's just cutely dumb and silly like that.

"Congratulations to both of you for the marriage." An elegant voice snaps Bonggu back to his senses. There, standing the said princess of Eldoria in front of the newlyweds, smiling while offering a hand for prince Hamin to take, in which he takes. Bonggu is taken aback to see her this up close, she looks even better in person that Bonggu almost drops his jaw in awe and admiration.

"Thank you." The prince replies, but no smile, no excitement in his tone. Just a plain one. Of course, the marriage he doesn't want.

Holding hands and exchanging gaze a little too long for Bonggu's liking that he decides to let his intrusive thoughts win by grabbing their still locked hands and takes the princess' one away from Hamin's. Now, he's having a handshake with the princess instead, grinning awkwardly.

"Don't worry! His Highness is in a good hand, I'll take care of him well." Bonggu blurts it out and internally panicking shortly afterwards. What if he sounded rude? But then he's taken aback to hear what's inside her mind that now their hands are touching.

"Look at this annoying ugly thing. Not even a day into marriage yet already acting like he owns the last prince."

Bonggu blinks twice dumbly because... 'excuse me?? Ugly thing? Who you called ugly thing?! Me????!! Ugh I know I am but hey!! That's rude!'  Insulting others inside that little head of her while flashing an innocent smile is somehow scary. She fools everyone but Bonggu.

"Sure." She smiles back, one corner of her eyes twitches slightly if you look closely. Must be hard to keep that angelic appearance when you have a shitty heart.

After she leaves the spot, another royal family member from neighboring kingdom comes to greet and congratulate the couple of the day. It's almost never ending, Bonggu can feel his butt is burning. Guess starting today onwards, he needs to learn to adapt and get used to all of these royal tradition and customs, the environment and the community. He's entering another new different world now.

From distance, he sees the snicker Noah shoots at his direction as that blondie notices how he keeps fidgeting on his seat. Bonggu holds himself back from snorting as response. His half bottom (butt and legs) is numb from sitting too long. He can't help glancing at the prince and checking on him. Bonggu is so confident Hamin is just the same as him. He smirks and so ready to tease that prince for the numb bottom but to his surprise, the latter is still looking too calm and composed. Straight face as usual but when he greets the guests, he smiles. 'Oh. He smiles.' So dashing that Bonggu falls in love all over again. Thank goodness he still remembers how to breath or else this wedding will turn into a funeral instead.

After the ceremony ends, the couple takes some time to have a meet and greet session with the people waiting outside the palace. Then, they ride on a horse, having a walk along the streets in the town and between markets. Commoners greet and wave excitedly to their last prince and his bride. Bonggu feels so awkward and shy at first because how on earth is he supposed to wave his hand at some familiar faces he used to hang out with at the market? Oh God. As if sensing the restlessness from the wizard, prince Hamin scolds him quietly with a frown.

"What's with you?"

Bonggu keeps fidgeting on the horse they're sharing right now.

"I- I'm nervous."

He mumbles meekly. Seeing a crowd so big and knowing he's the center of attention today, is crazy.

Hamin grunts and scoots forward, closer to Bonggu before holding the reins together with one hand. Bonggu gulps and cheeks slowly redden, watching how big the prince's hand that wrapped around his smaller one. It's warm. "Just smile and wave your hand. Not that hard." The prince half whispers in annoyance. The petite in front of him nods in response.

"This hamster is so handful." Bonggu breaks into a low giggle as he hears what Hamin is thinking. Hamster? Isn't hamster cute?

"What now?" Hamin asks as his ears catch the giggle sound.

"Nothing~"

The rest of the evening is running smoothly, and later that night, they hold a post-wedding party. This time, it's only for the Caligo royal family members, royal community, noblemen and some other invited guests.

During the dancing time wherein all the guests dance a waltz, in slow-tempo alongside their partner inside the ballroom, Bonggu is excited to join too despite has zero idea how to actually dance. Dancing with the prince? A big yes! Noah is dancing with a nobleman, Bonggu can spot that standing-out hair colour from afar.

"D- Don't you wanna dance, Your Highness?" Bonggu half whispers, the full-house ballroom seems fun and exciting. Hamin lowly grunts under his breath, he's tired already and wants nothing more than to just go to bed. "Shall we?!" Bonggu sounds excited, smiling in anticipation.

The prince clicks his tongue, "Just go without me." He does seem tired though.

"But it supposed to be in pair! How can I dance by myself?"

"Then, find someone else."

Bonggu huffs at that half-arse reply from the prince. "But I wanna dance with you." He mumbles poutily, grumpily.

"Quit being clingy. Go find someone else."

'What do you mean clingy?!! We're literally married, just in case you forget!' Bonggu internally shouts and turns on his heels, heading into the crowd and everyone starts moving aside, giving him the way. Alone? They look at Bonggu and the prince, who's still not moving from his seat, back and forth. Is prince Hamin not gonna join his wife?

The dark haired male remains still, silently watching Bonggu who's now getting ready to dance at the middle of the ballroom by himself after asking the media team to play a different song. The new song is more upbeat, romantic mood in the ballroom just a few minutes ago disappeared in a blink.

As soon as the song starts playing, Bonggu's body starts moving along with the music and beat. No more slow tempo dance, it's a whole H.O.T. move. Everyone in the hall lets out gasp and having a similar reaction to it. They've never seen something like that, not sure if Bonggu is just a bad dancer or this move is a trend nowadays. Honestly it looks awful, but interesting.

Hamin rolls his eyes and facepalms as he's watching his wife going all out. Talentless aside, A+ for the effort though. Ough... did he just twerk? The prince might die from the second-hand embarrassment if not for the fact that everybody else seems having a great time enjoying the show and hyping Bonggu up. Even the king and queen seem don't mind with the change of mood inside the venue.

"What an interesting person. He knows how to have fun." Prince Haejun's voice greets Hamin as the eldest brother came to stand beside the chair.

"Right? And we have this boring brat sitting alone. Tsk tsk." The second prince, Taesuk is joining both of them very sooner and standing at another side of Hamin, purposely provoking the youngest.

"Keuk-- I'm not boring brat-!"

"Oh really? Then, what are you doing here? Join him." The second prince smirks, challenging.

"Should I join him instead?" This time, the eldest provokes.

Hamin grunts, "go ahead!" As if he cares though. Jealous? He doesn't have that in his vocabulary... yet.

Both princes Haejun and Taesuk snort in unison with twinning head shake. "You are no fun."

Hamin comically clenches his fist and replies in annoyance, "s-shut up!" His brothers sure love to tease and annoy him.

"Psttt~~" A tied blond haired guy slowly approaches Bonggu, this somehow catches Hamin's full attention back on the little dancer in curiosity. That familiar face, Hamin recognizes almost instantly. He's none other than one of the five wizards.

"He's so pretty." Prince Taesuk comments spontaneously, almost in dazed, upon seeing that wizard, causing both his brothers to look at him judgingly. "W-What?"

"You have a fiance, in case you forget." Prince Haejun just had to remind the middle son.

"I- I know! Ugh, I'm just saying though." The latter scoffs grumpily. He's engaged to one of Caligo princesses who's also their third cousin, and their marriage is still in a plan, no exact date yet as for now.

Hamin just smirks as his two brothers are still arguing over nothing. He brings his focus back to the dance floor as Noah smiles while offering Bonggu a hand. "Shall we dance together, Your Highness?" The blondie purposely emphasizes the title.

Bonggu muffles his laughter at the new honorific used for him. "That sounds odd coming from you, hyung." He replies in half whisper, taking Noah's hand and continue to dance but this time, they're back to a slow tempo song. Everybody else and their partner begins to dance again, another change of mood inside the ballroom.

"Prince Hamin is looking over here. Why not we make him jealous while he's watching~" Noah whispers the idea he's plotting in which Bonggu agrees almost instantly.

Expectation? They dance a waltz with the romantic vibe filling up the air around them and making the prince jealous at the sight.

Reality? They keep taking the wrong steps and end up stepping on each other's foot. The prince can't believe his eyes, just how much terrible dancer the two could be.

"Hyung, why you stepped on my foot-"

"You stepped on my foot first!"

"No I didn't?!"

"See! You just did it again!"

"Arghh this is hard, hyung!"

"Stop stepping on me!"

"I didn't! I- I'm trying not to!"

Two idiots sure stick together and make a perfect duo, prince Hamin thinks to himself as he scoffs in disbelief.

Later inside their bedroom for their first night after the post-wedding party ends, Bonggu grins ear to ear, looking forward to being praised by the prince over his dance move back at the ballroom. Honestly, Hamin doesn't know what is there to be praised. Sloppy move, silly misstep, terrifying twerk.

"Say something~ What do you think about my dance? Must be shocking, right?"

'Shocking, yes. Very much.'

"Now you know I'm a good dancer." Bonggu scoffs, looking smug.

'Good- what do you mean good? It's traumatic.'

"So? What do you think of my dance? Give it a score."

'Oh God. Look at this silly thing.'

Bonggu is looking up at the dark haired male with his doe eyes full on anticipation, smile widens and an imaginary tail is wagging excitedly on his back. He could just touch Hamin and straight up reading his mind, but no. He doesn't want to do that, it feels wrong like invading someone's privacy.

A sigh comes from the prince, a small crease between his brows. "Hundred."

The smaller male gasps loudly, eyes can't get any more sparkling. "I KNOW RIGHT?! You sure have a pair of great eyes, Your Highness!!"

"For the confidence." The prince continues plainly, face straight.

"Eh??"

"Hundred for the confidence."

"EHHH??? Th-Then, what about my dance?"

"What do you think?" Hamin merely replies, leaving Bonggu dumbfoundedly at the middle of that huge bedroom and heads into bathroom for a shower.

'EHHHHHH? WHAT WAS THAT?! AN INSULT?' Bonggu groans internally but then gasps. 'Or maybe, um, he asked what do I think. So, he wanted me to figure out by myself. Ohhh! He must be too shy to even say out the compliments. So, he wants me to just get it myself. Oh hohoho His Highness is so adorable!! I'll dance for him more in the future~~'

About half an hour later, prince Hamin gets out from the bathroom in his dark bathrobe, a small towel draped carelessly on his damp hair. Warm shower in the middle of the cold night is everything he needs after a long tiring day. He glances at his huge bed and it is empty. Where is that little nuisance? As he approaches the bed, he then notices Bonggu already sleeping on the floor next to the bed with only a pillow.

'Ah... right.' Hamin remembers something. During their wedding ceremony early today when he was kissing his forehead, he did tell Bonggu that he should not expect them to sleep together and that he refuses to sleep together no matter what. 'But hold on. I don't think I actually said these to him?' As far as he remembers, he only said these things inside his head though. Correct, he never actually told Bonggu any of these. Confused, Hamin just shrugs it off and gets a spare blanket from a wardrobe nearby before tosses it over Bonggu. It's cold tonight, at least have the blanket. The prince climbs on the bed and lies down with a relieved sigh. At last, today ends. It's so tiring, physically and emotionally. He doesn't take so long to fall into a deep sleep now that he's finally in the bed.

The night feels too short for someone who truly needs a proper rest. Hamin wakes up to an empty mattress on the floor with a folded blanket placed on top of the pillow used last night. Bonggu always wakes up the first, so early in the morning before Hamin does. This is the third day since their wedding ceremony and they still sleep separately.

'Is he gonna spend the whole day in the reading room again today?' Hamin wonders, a hand rubbing the back of his nape and doing some light arm stretching. These past three days, Bonggu was busy spending his time inside the reading room with the royal tutors. It's normal for commoners who married to royal members to have their first few weeks of marriage learning about all these royal history, traditions, practices and rules, including those dos and don'ts.

Caligo is one of the most powerful kingdoms with their developed technology and infrastructure, plus the strong political and military system. They have a very good reputation in the region. For this reason, another kingdoms are competing to win over Caligo to form an alliance with them for diplomatic relation purpose. However, of course there are also some other kingdoms that hold completely different view than the rest; instead of forming an alliance for their own advantage, they wish for Caligo's downfall.

Not only Bonggu, the last prince is busy today too. All the three princes of Caligo have their own territory each that need to be governed and taken care of, and Hamin's one is called Ignis. Meanwhile, Asterum for the eldest prince and Caelum for the second prince. Ignis is the farthest territory compared to the rest for some reasons.

"What news from Ignis today?" Daily question from Hamin to his personal royal assistant, Shinpei. He needs to keep track of the activity and situation in his ruled territory, especially after one of the neighboring kingdoms, Vilethorn just launched a missile and it landed on Ignis, which resulted to five casualties without death, luckily. This happened only last month. They did apologize (and paid some amount as compensation) for the incident and claimed it as a military training error. A mistake, an error, yet prince Hamin still takes some preventive measures in response to that incident. Who knows it could actually be a sign for war.

"Be generous yet be careful. Accept alliance yet fully trust no one."  The king taught his three sons and repeatedly reminded them about this principle since they were at young age.

"Your Highness!! Do not run, Sir! Be careful!"

From inside the office room, Hamin can already hear that familiar footsteps along the hallway and getting closer to the room until the door is opened from outside and a familiar figure greets him. The same pattern in these three days that it suddenly becomes like a routine. That same big smile, happy face and excited tone in the voice. Two royal servants stop behind him, catching their breath after the running. This new royal member is sure so energetic and unstoppable.

"Your Highness!!!" Bonggu walks into the room, today with a tray of cookies. He hasn't even took off his oven mitts yet, must be so rushing and excited to show the prince what he's making in the kitchen. Hamin is shocked on the first day, now he seems getting used to this.

"What now." That prince sounds unamused, face straight as usual. He just ended a call with his deputy in Ignis few minutes ago.

"Chocolate chip cookies." An anticipating grin flashes so brightly that for a second, Hamin thought of putting on sunglasses. Bonggu walks around the desk and stops next to the prince.

Hamin lifts up an eyebrow in a judging manner as he eyes this one cookie on the tray. The one that has heart-shaped sprinkles on top of it.

"Oh right! This one specially made for you, Your Highness. All these sprinkles represent the amount of my love." He put a lot of thought in the process of making these cookies, everyone could tell.

Hamin quietly stares at those cookies for a few seconds before taking the one next to the sprinkled cookie instead.

"EH- that's not- but yours is this one-" Bonggu sulkily mumbles as the prince ignores him and proceeds to have a bite. "How is it?" Despite sulking, he can't help feeling curious and nervous for the feedback. "G-Good?"

The dark haired male shrugs and replies shortly, "not bad."

Funny how such simple words can make Bonggu feels butterflies in his stomach, so delightful. He grins and looks at the two servants who're still standing at the doorstep. They smile back at him with their thumbs up supportively.

Finishing only half of the cookie and putting it back onto the tray, he speaks again while bringing his focus back to the messy files and documents on the desk. "How's the lesson today?"

He wonders what and just how far would those tutors go in teaching Bonggu about the royal history. He wonders if they will also tell Bonggu about that certain event. Or to be exact, that one incident happened in the past. He listens as Bonggu excitedly shares with him on what he has learned so far. None of them was about that incident. The royals really tried to keep it secret from even the prince's spouse himself.

Hamin glances at the talkative one next to him, silently wondering how would he react to that secret once he knew about it. Would he still love Hamin the same? 'Or he would show me the same disgusted expression as those people?' He thinks. Not that he really cares though, it's understandable if Bonggu shows the same reaction as others.

Caligo is a well-known leading kingdom and having a high reputation. But no one knows the dark side of this kingdom. The fact that they keep the biggest secret of the region... is mind-blowing. The secret about their last prince's another identity, or to be exact, his second form.

As strange as it may sound, the prince is not even a full blooded human to begin with. His second identity is in a form of an ugly terrifying being with claws and fangs, like a monster and it bites, and scratches. It can be dangerous, may attack and get aggressive.

And that was exactly what he did so many years ago which resulted to a high death toll.

The saddest thing is the fact that whenever he's in this form, he has no control over his own mind, body and action. He can't remember what he has done, only regret and guilty eating him alive.

"What did you mean.... tens of dead?" A fifteen years old him asked shakily. He just overheard the king's conversation with one of his men earlier. There's a hot news going around about the death of the people of neighboring kingdom. They were being attacked and killed by a mysterious entity before later, Caligo 'lent a hand' by sending their troops to capture that violent being and brought it back to Caligo for the next actions. Everyone thought the monster had been killed. If only everyone knew that the said entity was actually Caligo's last prince.

Not getting the actual picture, all the neighbouring kingdoms showed their gratitude and respect to Caligo. This kingdom always played hero and they couldn't let the last prince ruin this image of them.

"Oh, dear. You're awake. How are you feeli--"

"Was it because of me?"

"Dear-"

"Answer me first!!"

"Hamin!"

"Those people died, was it because of me?! Answer me, dad!!!"

Tears pooling at the corner of his eyes and hands clenching into trembling fists. Why? Why it happened again? This time, it was even worse. He's so doomed. The whole Caligo kingdom would be so doomed once the other kingdoms finding out about this. Not even the people of Caligo should know. The king and queen kept assuring him that none of those deaths was his fault, and yet locking the son inside his room for a week straight in order to 'hide' him from the world outside. Hilarious.

And now they came up with this arranged marriage idea for him, in order to keep him tamed after the rumor of his secret relationship with Eldoria princess began to spread around among the kingdoms in the region. Imagine if only the relationship worked and it ended up with a marriage, then one day something triggered Hamin's second form that Eldoria got to find this Caligo's biggest secret out. It would be a huge chaos across the entire region. So, the best choice they could think of was marrying him to somebody who could love him unconditionally. That's right, the youngest wizard.

The third week into the marriage, both the newlyweds are still as busy as ever. Bonggu is still with his never-ending lesson with his tutors, while prince Hamin is busy somewhere else outdoor, keeping up with all the updates on Ignis.

Every time Bonggu comes to see Hamin while bringing any food or snack that he does for the day, the prince won't be there inside the office room nor anywhere around the palace.

"He must be so busy, huh?" Bonggu pouts slightly while shaping the dough into bear shaped and placing them neatly on a tray for the next process which is baking. It's been a few days since the last time he got to bring food for the prince. Even at night, he's already asleep by the time Hamin is back into their shared bedroom. "I wanna see him."

"Don't worry, Sir Bonggu. His Highness is just a lil bit busy lately, he'll have the time for you later." Those royal kitchen assistants tried to put him at ease.

"Hopefully it's really about Ignis though, and not secretly meeting that princess of Eldoria." One of them blurts out before being elbowed by the other to not mentioning that one person, especially in front of the prince's spouse himself.

Bonggu brings his focus on the dough to those female subordinates standing opposite the kitchen counter. "So, is the rumor actually true? About them dating secretly?" He doesn't seem surprised but does seem disappointed.

Now they're exchanging glances, hesitantly before one of them replies, "w-we are not really sure either. But none of the royals ever denied it and-"

"And I don't think His Highness is a good person after all! His unexpected temper and that cold expression are so annoyingly terrifying. So unapproachable, if I must say. I would prefer the other two princes instead. They're so charming and sweet compared to the last prince~"

"Hush! You shouldn't--" The friend is about to shut her up but Bonggu interrupts instead.

"D- Don't say that!" Startling everyone in the kitchen at the sudden protectiveness. "His Highness... he might seem cold and arrogant, someone who talks and smiles less, and yes so annoying too. B-But he's not a bad person. I promise, he can be caring too. It's just... he isn't good in expressing his emotions. That's all. He's a good person... so don't speak evil of him." Bonggu mumbles the last sentence quietly, eyes on the dough in his hands again. He doesn't like the way they describe his husband like some sort of villains.

"You must love His Highness that much, right? I hope he could love you the same just as much as you do."

"That evil princess better not ruining someone else's marriage, I swear."

"Right. Yes, Her Highness is beautiful like a goddess. But that's it. I don't find anything about her attractive, to be honest."

"Aren't you being too honest right now, Lily?"

They giggle at their own antics.

"Don't worry, Sir Bonggu! We'll protect you and His Highness!"

Bonggu cracks a fond smile, these people are so genuine.

.

.

.

The next two days, Bonggu finally got to see the husband again. They're at a hallway on the second floor of the palace when Bonggu just finished his second lesson for the day.

"Your Highness!" From distance, that familiar voice can already be heard by prince Hamin. He glances over his shoulder, but slightly taken aback and fully turns around as Bonggu is rushing towards him with a big smile, but it slowly fades away and replaced by a confused expression instead. Oh. The latter is looking different than usual, Hamin notices almost instantly. The neatly accessorized hair, the pink-lilac royal dress, and did they also put some makeup on him? What is the lesson for today again? Play dress-up? Tutorial of royal makeup?

Bonggu seems slightly panicked when he sees the bags carried by the prince's royal assistant standing not too far behind the prince. What's going on?

"A-Are you going somewhere, Your Highness?"

A brief pause. Hamin just realized that he forgot to tell him. Wait, should he though? Well, yes actually. You should inform your wife if you're going somewhere far.

"Ignis." He replies shortly.

"What-? Is- is something happening there?" Bonggu fidgets, fingers fiddling in guilt and nervousness. It's normally wizards' duty to keep the safety of the kingdom and all the territories as they could foresee what's coming up in the near future and act accordingly after. But normally, it's upon request by the royal representatives. They would set up an appointment beforehand or straightly come over to see the wizards at their dorm if it's urgent to ask them for certain favors. But in these past few weeks, Bonggu has been absent from his wizard task and couldn't even catch up with Noah or the other three members. The hyung didn't inform him anything either. So, he has no idea what's going on. But still, Hamin could at least share something with him? Something that's bugging his mind, maybe.

'Must be due to seeing me too busy these days that he decided not to bother me.' Bonggu thinks to himself sadly. He wishes he could help something though. 'My husband is busy and struggle with important matters but here I am, playing dress-up and make-up.' He feels stupid.

Seeing the uneasy look on that face, Hamin brings his finger to Bonggu's cheek and caresses his knuckle against the cold skin. The action causes the smaller guy to get taken back, heart dramatically skips a beat. This is the first time (if we exclude that one time the prince kissed his forehead on their wedding ceremony solely for tradition purpose) that Hamin initiates a move. He's clearly not a fan of skinship, so it's always Bonggu to initiate them despite the prince will frown, grunt, and pull away as response. Even if Hamin ever initiated skinship before, that was just because he had to. He hates skinship, yet here he is caressing his wife's cheek a bit too tenderly.

'Now, now... what are you looking so sad for.'  The prince thinks.

Bonggu gulps, quietly screaming in his head, begging for his cheeks not to blush madly right now and not to make fun of himself in front of this ridiculously handsome prince.

"Gone only for three days." Hamin finally opens his mouth again, speaks in his infamous deep half whisper tone. "You can use the bed."

Bonggu scoffs and snorts at that. "I can use the bed only when you're away? Whoaaa... you so mean." He removes Hamin's hand from his face, now holding it instead.

"What do you want then." The prince replies in frustration, a small crease is visible between his brows. 'This hamster is so fussy. Should I sleep on the floor instead? Tch...'

'I wanna sleep together with you on the bed, you dummy!!!' Bonggu screams again in his head, as if replying to what's inside that prince's head. He huffs, "forget it. Oh! But there's one more thing!"

"Wha-" Hamin can't even finish his word that his hand is being pulled by Bonggu, dragging him into one of the empty rooms nearby. Door closed from inside now that they're alone, leaving the assistant and those maids dumbfounded at the hallway. The new royal family member is sure full of surprise. "What are you doing?" Hamin asks sternly with a frown. They're standing and facing each other, height difference becomes more obvious in this position.

"Uh.. I have.. I have something.." Bonggu mumbles absentmindedly, gazing down to his own hand rustling inside his tiny pink sling bag. Hamin is still quietly watching, internally sighs. He's going to be late for the long journey to Ignis and we all know whose fault.

"It's here!" The smaller male exclaims happily, taking out something from his bag. "Hold out your hand for me, Your Highness."

A low grunt and sigh comes from the prince before he actually takes his hand out. He lifts up an eyebrow questioningly upon seeing a necklace placed onto his big palm, quietly judging the half-heart shaped pendant with a tiny initial B carved into it.

"Look here! Letter B for Bonggu!" A giggle while pointing a finger at himself. "I have one too!" He shows off the necklace around his neck, the other half-heart shaped pendant. "I keep the initial H with me! Now we have matching necklace~ I made these during one of my classes last two days." He intended to give the necklace to Hamin right after class but it was so hard to meet the busy prince these days.

No reaction from Hamin, he's just staring down at the necklace in his palm.

"W-Why? Is this- uh, too cringy?" Bonggu fidgets, fingers fiddling in nervousness.

"We... the king and princes, aren't allowed to wear any jewellery." It's just the stupid rule here.

"Not even necklace?"

"Any of that kind."

"Ah- really? Sorry, I didn't know." This is surprisingly a news to Bonggu. He apologetically rubs his nape and lets out an awkward chuckle. It sounds like a disappointed one to Hamin though. "Th-Then, I'll keep both necklaces-" He's about to take the necklace back from Hamin's hand but the prince is quick to close his palm and brings it away from Bonggu's reach that he looks up at the taller male questioningly.

"Who said you could take it back?" Hamin says strictly, lazy gaze lowers down on his spouse. "This is mine now."

Oh.

Oh.

'His Highness wants this necklace.' Bonggu thinks, feeling giddy with delight at this realization. Despite won't be able to wear it, the prince wants this necklace.

Nodding happily, a big grin flashes cutely. "Then, it's yours now!"

Hamin inhales sharply at the cute sight in front of him that he has to bring himself to look away because why on earth did his heart suddenly skip a beat just now? 'What was that?'

"Anything else?"

"Ah! N-No, nothing else. You might be late! My bad!" Bonggu frantically apologises for taking the time. He rushes to open the door and they step out of the room, meeting up with the others who're still waiting at the hallway. They hold back their meaningful smile, thinking that the prince and the spouse were doing something cutesy (read: kiss) while being inside the room just now. Oh they would be disappointed to know that the couple was only talking about necklace.

"Safe journey, Your Highness! I'll be waiting for your return." Bonggu smiles, it reaches his eyes prettily as usual.

Prince Hamin nods simply. 'It's only for three days though.' He brings his attention from Bonggu to the three royal maids standing few feet behind the wife. They get startled by the sudden eye contact. "Look after him for me." He says, voice deep and serious. It's not a request but an order.

Bonggu blushes hearing it, cheeks redden almost instantly that he forgets how to act. Isn't this too sweet????!! Reminding them to take care of him FOR HIM?!

"Yes, Your Highness." Those maids reply politely in unison. They can't help but internally cooing at how adorable the royal pair, because let's be honest, they've never seen this side of the last prince. Yes, he's still as cold as stone but there's this tiny weak spot for Bonggu that began to grow inside him. The atmosphere at this hallway gets a little too pleasing and sweet that Hamin has to clear his throat by instinct. Being too nice towards this new person in his life is still too awkward for him.

"I- I mean..." He continues. "...just in case if he sets the kitchen on fire or breaks some utensils, poor table manner or anything,--"

"Hah??! Do you think I'm that feral?!" Bonggu gets on his defensive mode real quick.

"You broke a photo frame inside my office room when you tried to--"

"B-But that's an accident! An accident! I did apologize for it though?!

"Ah, right.... you apologized." The infamous straight face and monotonous reply.

"Tchhh so annoying." Bonggu mutters the last two words very quietly, poutily. "Now, just get off!"

Those maids and the assistant can only smile as they watch the sudden little bickering, mentally facepalming.

"Your Highness, we should get going." Shinpei, the personal assistant just had to remind the prince.

"Right." Hamin clears his throat one more time, finding himself getting so carried away with all of these. He takes the last glance at his spouse before leaving the spot, his assistant trails behind him.

Bonggu sends them off with a yearning gaze, silently praying for whatever that work at Ignis is about, may the prince and all his people be safe always.

"Sir Bonggu, shall we move to our last lesson for today?" One of the maids breaks the silence at the hallway. The prince's spouse turns around, seems a bit hesitant.

"Soojung-nim, I think I have to skip it."

Those maids exchange quick confused glance among themselves.

"I need to see someone this evening."

. . . . .

"Maria noona, where is the green potion that I placed on this rack last night? It was in a small bottle." Noah asks from the living room.

"How do I know?" The eldest wizard who's also the one incharge of (selectively) removing people's memory, replies from the kitchen. "Try looking at another racks. Maybe you misplaced it." She walks into the dining room with a tray of food, with the help from another two wizards, Do Eunho and Nam Yejun, to set up the table.

They're inside their dorm, having some rest on the weekend. Lately, there isn't much of request nor order from the royal family regarding the kingdom welfare.

"What is the potion for?" Yejun, the wizard who can control the four elements of nature, asks the blonded male.

"It's for curing disease. Bonggu made it and told me to keep it for him while he's absent." Noah huffs and takes a seat beside Yejun, opposite to Eunho and Maria. Without Bonggu here, the dorm gets a little more quiet than usual. Usually, the two youngest wizards, Bonggu and Eunho will be so loud either bickering childishly or being too playful around the dorm.

Sometimes, they get to work on a same case together considering one can see bad spirit while the other can cure disease. There was this one case where a young boy was bedridden for a few months, happened to be there's an evil spirit lending his body. At last, he was free from that spirit after two weeks of attempt, thanks to the both wizards' hard work.

"A potion for curing disease?" Maria asks this time.

This dorm is as big as a whole ballroom. The size alone could fit a living room, a kitchen, two bathrooms, three bedrooms with five beds. It's a bit too spacious for only four of them now. "I thought he didn't need any potion for that?" Eunho interrupts from the living room.

As far as they know, all these special abilities they're having are gifted to them since they were born/young age. None of them need any external force to use their powers. So, Bonggu needs a potion?

Noah scratches his cheek hesitantly, "uh actually I'm not sure either. But as he said, the potion is for curing disease. So, I take it as it is."

They exchanged confused glances but shrug it off sooner. "That can wait, let's have our dinner first."

Eunho's hungry stomach growls loudly just as the room suddenly gets too quiet. "W-What? I'm sorry okay?!! I'm just hungry!" Then, four of them burst into laughter at the flustered youngest wizard. Everyone is gathering around the dining table now.

They're about to start digging in when someone suddenly rings the bell to their dorm. Oh no. A royal messenger at this hour? What do they need? A request or an order? Is it something urgent?

Maria gets the door for whoever that guest could be, only to be surprised to see her beloved wizard she's missed so much.

"Bonggu?!"

All the other three wizards snap their neck at the name mentioned, all eyes on the unexpected guest.

"Bonggu!!" Noah is the first to shoot up from his seat and runs towards the said male. He hugs him tight and drags him inside to join then at the dining table. Maria smiles motherly and locks the door again.

"What brings you here? Have you eaten yet? Did you miss us?" Eunho's eyes sparkling excitedly.

"Whoa whoa, calm down. Let your hyung breathe for a sec, he just arrived." Yejun laughs and gives Eunho a pat on his head.

Bonggu takes a seat at one end of the table, grinning as he eyes the food served on the table. "How did you guys know I was about to come?"

Eunho scoffs, "excuse me? These foods ain't for ya. Btw, I'm the youngest one here and I have all the privileges--"

"You've always been the youngest here, stop being so silly." Bonggu snorts.

"There, there, enough with the bickering. It's not even five minutes yet." The blonded wizard huffs.

Maria serves a bowl of rice for Bonggu before taking her own seat. "What brings you here, dear?"

Bonggu smiles shyly, "I- um, I missed you guys."

"Is everything okay at the palace?" Yejun asks, lowkey sounds like a protective dad. "How were the classes so far? The tutors? Did the prince treat you well?"

The second youngest wizard gets flustered as he's being bombarded with questions. "Omg y- yes, yes! Everything has been great so far. The people are friendly too."

"The prince too?" Noah asks this time. Everyone knows just how cold and unfriendly that last prince, Bonggu can't even lie to their faces.

"Well... um, n-not really BUT! But he's showing some improvement!"

"Knew it." Noah and Eunho scoff in unison, "improvement my ass."

"Hey, hey." Yejun mentally facepalms as he subtly scolds the other two who've been so verbal in criticizing prince Hamin since forever. That last prince is their least favourite among the three siblings. But since Bonggu likes the prince so much, they have to make peace with that.

The rest of evening is full of laughter and stories as Bonggu has so much to share with his family. Even so, he still keeps certain things to himself considering not everything is fine to be shared especially if it's related to the royal privacy. It's been a little too long for Bonggu since he left the dorm. He missed to be here, surrounded by his beloved people.

"Will you sleepover tonight?" Yejun asks from the comfort of the sofa inside the living room. "His Highness isn't around anyway, right?" Bonggu did tell them that the prince is having work at Ignis.

"Uh... I really wanted to but I've told the caregiver that I would be back tonight." Bonggu takes a seat on one of the sofas.

"You have any tutor tomorrow?"

"Yup, in the morning."

"Must be a tight schedule." Eunho interrupts, entering the room with Maria after washing their dishes.

"Yea you could say that." Bonggu sighs with a snicker. It's almost a month since he gets married to the prince and becomes a part of the royal family. It's tiring already but he's not complaining either. He's currently living the dream though; to get married to prince Hamin, his lifelong crush. This still feels too good to be true sometimes.

By the way..., "where is Noah hyung?" He asks, suddenly remembers the main reason he's here in the first place.

"Maybe in his room." The second eldest wizard replies, flipping through the magazine in his hands. There are three bedrooms, he used to share one with Bonggu while Noah and Eunho are sharing one too. Meanwhile, Maria the eldest and the only female wizard gets a room all for herself.

"Aight." Bonggu leaves his seat and searches for Noah inside the blondie's bedroom.

"Hyung."

The elder one gasps dramatically and turns on his heels. "Bonggu! I found it!"

"Found what?"

"The potion you told me to keep."

"Oh, did you misplace it?" Bonggu laughs at the clumsy blondie. "Thanks, hyung." He takes the bottle from the latter.

"How are you?" Noah asks after a brief silence. "Is everything okay at the palace?"

Bonggu shrugs merely, "well yea... but there are a lot of things I need to memorize from those tutors." He sighs playfully, causing the other guy to snicker.

"Hey, that's normal. You gotta learn those royal stuffs now that you're one of them." Noah lightly elbows him but soon enough, he stops being playful when he notices how the younger wizard fiddles with his fingers and looking a bit uneasy. They've known each other for too long for him to be able to read Bonggu like an opened book. "What is it?"

"Um... hyung, did His Highness meet you any of these past days to.. uh, foresee any stuff related to Ignis?"

"No? He didn't come to see me."

"Ah, really? Then,... I wanna ask for a favor."

Noah remains quiet, patiently waiting for Bonggu to continue.

"How is Ignis doing nowadays? And also, what's coming in the near future for them."

The elder wizard scoffs endearingly. "Always for His Highness' sake, huh? What's with Ignis though? Isn't it normal for him to commute back and forth his own territory? You don't have to worry much."

Bonggu pouts, dissatisfied with the response he received. Yes, it's normal but Hamin's expression didn't look too good when Bonggu saw the prince earlier. They seemed a bit rushing too, as if they just got a bad news.

"Okay, okay, fine. If that's what you want, then I'll look it up for you." Noah gives in almost instantly. Now, talking about soft spot.

. . . . .

"Your Highness is here!"

The troops line up almost instantly, welcoming the presence they've been waiting since yesterday. Everyone in Ignis is feeling the gush of relief to see their leader.

"I heard that another missile dropped, in the North this time." Not even wasting any second, the prince gets straight to business as soon as he meets his troops and being greeted by the captain.

"This time too, by Vilethorn."

Hamin internally scoffs, jaw clenched. He knew it. First time could be a mistake. But second time? Ignis should take it as a warning.

"Any statement or clarification from them?"

"Not yet."

"They owe us one."

"We'll have to send them a warning letter--"

"No need."

"Y-yes?" The captain and the troops are glancing at one another in confusion. No need for a warning?

Then, the prince continues, "send them an invitation instead."

"Pardon?"

"Call them over. I need to talk."

The sharp gaze and stern look on his face, the seriousness in his tone sends shivers down their spines. The angry prince can get even colder and scarier than he already is. He demands to listen to Vilethorn's excuse and reasonings in person. They've been given a warning letter the first time though.

"Yes, Your Highness!"

Despite being so strict and cold, prince Hamin is actually so respected and loved by Ignis people, for his hard work and attention when it comes to the welfare of people. Everyone in Caligo can see how developed Ignis is now, compared to the other two territories owned by the first and second prince.

During the early days, Ignis used to be the least developed and most exploited by the kingdom. It's the farthest territory among the three, from the capital of Caligo, and barely received any attention and help from the royal institution. In easier words, Ignis is a forgotten side of Caligo. Until the youngest prince picked it up one day and breathed life into the place again.

"When do you wish the meet-up to take place, Your Highness? I'll set the date."

"Sooner is better."

The quicker they get to resolve this matter, the sooner he can go back to the main capital of Caligo and see his spouse again- wait, what? No.

.

.

.

A few days since the prince took his leave, Bonggu has become less busy than the past two weeks. No more tutor every single day. Bonggu finally gets to bring his focus back to his actual job; healing and curing those in need. He provides the service for free if it's for the poor and commoners. These people will usually come over to his small clinic nearby the wizards' dormitory. A long queue by the time he arrives there every day at the morning. Some of them even insist to pay some amount of pennies as a gratitude. Most of the time, Bonggu has to refuse the payment considering these people are poor themselves and they need the money more than he does. Besides, all royal wizards have their own wage paid and reward given by the kingdom as stated in their contract.

"Work hard today too, I see."

Bonggu jolts at the foreign but also kind of familiar voice. He just closed the clinic and now making a light preparation for the next day. The sky is orange as the sun is setting.

He gets even more surprised to see the owner of that voice that he gasps almost loudly. "Y-Your Highness!"

It's the second prince, Taesuk. What is he coming here for by himself without any companion? This is unusual.

"Do you need anything, Your Highness? I just closed--"

"No, no. I need nothing. I just happened to... pass by this area, and thought of paying a visit." The prince casually takes a seat on one of the stools outside the small clinic. "How is it to be back on business after weeks of rest?"

Bonggu internally scoffs because what does he mean rest? Bonggu could barely rest with all those tutors and packed daily schedule. He doesn't say this out loud though. Instead, he cracks a snicker. "It feels nice to be back doing what I love."

The prince smiles, "yea. Everyone could tell, you love this job." His eyes move lower until they lay on the small bottle in Bonggu's hand. 'What's that?' It seems like a potion to prince Taesuk that he couldn't help feeling curious.

Bonggu noticing the small crease and questioning look from the prince, he quickly brings his hand to his back, hiding the bottle while avoiding eye contact. He clears his throat and comes up with another topic to break the sudden uncomfortable silence.

"Is everything okay with your territory or the Caligo in general? Just let us (wizards) know if you need anything."

Taesuk breaks into a smile again, endearingly. "Sure. Thanks for the offer. Oh btw, I heard Hamin is still in Ignis right now. How long has it been?"

Bonggu's expression changes, smile drops almost instantly. "Almost a week." He mumbles quietly, sad. It's almost a week since the last time he saw that prince. "His Highness must be so busy."

"That's normal, don't worry much. Ignis is doing so well now though."

Bonggu missed the tiny smirk on the second prince's face for a split second. "Yea... Noah hyung told me the same too."

'Noah? That fortune-teller foreseen the future of Ignis?'  Taesuk wonders. "He said the same?"

"Yes. He told me that Ignis is doing so well now and will stay like that."

"Stay... like that? Was he sure?"

Bonggu blinks twice, "pardon?" Because what do you mean if Noah the fortune-teller was sure of what he had foreseen?

The second prince is quick to clear his throat and cracks a smile, "nothing." He takes a deep inhale, "well. I have to go now. See you around again, shaman Bonggu." After a brief goodbye, he leaves the place. Bonggu is left dumbfounded. There was an unsettling vibe in the air around the second prince just now. 'Or maybe it's just me overthinking.' He shrugs his thoughts off. Maybe he's just tired, let's go home and get some rest.

While Hamin is away, Bonggu spends most of the nights at the wizard dorm as its distance is much close to his clinic.

Until one night, his personal caretaker, Ushio along with royal guards come to the dorm to escort him back to the palace because.. "His Highness is on his way back from Ignis!" Bonggu's face lit up instantly upon hearing that, his smile grows as big as Ushio's. One week and five days.

The other four wizards are happy for him too. "Pack your bag now, come on." Noah teasingly nudges him, knowing how much the younger wizard missed the husband. Bonggu is happy but also feeling guilty for having to leave the dorm and his family again. He glances at Maria for reassurance and the oldest wizard nods reassuringly.

"It's not like you won't be coming back here though." Eunho scoffs and rolls his eyes, he sure knows how to ruin the sad moment. "Be for real. Tomorrow morning, I'll wake up to your face around here again." They chuckle at the youngest wizard's boldness. Bonggu's clinic is not even that far from their dorm anyway.

Bonggu just had to roll his eyes as well, "let me be dramatic for once. Ugh this rascal." He gives Eunho a light kick before leaving the place with Ushio and two royal guards.

Noah's sad gaze sends Bonggu off as he watches the small back disappear into the distance. The visual he saw the other day when Bonggu asked him to foretell the future of Ignis is still bothering his mind somehow.

"They are doing so well now and will stay like that, but--" Noah abruptly stopped mid sentence as Bonggu seemed so relieved and happy to know that.

"Really?! I'm glad!" The big smile, sparkling eyes and relieved tone. Noah had to bit his own inner cheek, holding himself back from continuing his words. He couldn't afford to let that big beautiful smile to drop if only the younger male knew what's about to come for Ignis.

. . .

Bonggu and Ushio along with five other royal servants and three guards are waiting for the last prince at the palace garden. Ushio takes a glance at the prince's spouse and smirks a little, Bonggu is obviously nervous yet excited, clearly impatient.

Later, the prince and his four companions arrive by their horses and Bonggu can't even hide his wide grin. The love of his life is back.

Hamin stops his horse, followed by the other four trailing behind him.

"Your Highness, you're back!" Bonggu exclaims happily, hands clasped excitedly over his own chest. Neck is straining from gazing up at the prince. He slightly jolts, taken aback when Hamin reaches out his arm downward, offering his hand for Bonggu to take. Confused, the latter eyeing the hand and the prince's face back and forth.

"Sir Bonggu, His Highness wants you to come with him." Ushio takes a few step closer to whisper that because clearly Bonggu doesn't get the hint.

"E-EHh?? To where?" Bonggu whispers back but a bit too loud for everyone to hear.

"How do I know? Just go, Sir Bonggu." The personal servant pushes him ever so slightly.

"Eh? Um- ah, wait- uh-" Bonggu doesn't know how to act while Hamin is still holding out his hand, unamused face as usual. Hesitantly, Bonggu takes the hand and in a a blink of an eye, he's being lifted up onto the horse with the help from Shinpei (the prince's personal servant). He's now seated right in front of the prince, face blushed madly because how things get like this??

"Everyone else can go back and rest for tonight." Prince Hamin tells the others. "There's no need to accompany us." He continues before instructing his horse to start moving again and leaving the place.

Bonggu literally freezes, body stiffs as his heartbeat is racing as rapidly as the horse. The cold night breeze is hitting his front but he can feel the warmth from Hamin against his back. They're both so quiet the first few minutes of the ride until Bonggu speaks first once the horse begins to slow down.

"Y-Your Highness, where are we going?" He just had to ask. 'Do I suddenly can't read mind or there is nothing inside His Highness' head right now?' It is so quiet, so empty, almost terrifying.

After another silence, Hamin replies monotonously. "I don't know."

"Ehhh??!" Bonggu snaps his neck, glancing over his shoulder to look at the prince in disbelief. Is this prince for real?? 'Kidnapping me at this late hour and doesn't even know what are we doing out here?'

"Why... are we having this ride?"

"HUHH??? YOUR HIGHNESS, ARE YOU IN YOUR RIGHT STATE OF MIND RIGHT NOW?"

The prince does seem and sound tired though. He should just get some rest instead of having whatever this late night ride for. The horse has now stopped walking, they are on a random bridge, quiet away from the palace. It's dark, but thanks to the moonlight, they can still see each other's face.

Bonggu sits sidesaddle now, eyes never leave the other's face. "Your Highness." He starts, bringing his hand up to the prince's cheek. "Are you okay? Tell me honestly."

'Am I okay? I don't know.'

'What do you mean you don't know?' Bonggu is concerned.

"None of your business." Hamin removes the hand from his face and looks away.

'None of my business? I'm your partner and you look so troubled right now. Of course this is my business too!' The thought-reader wants to protest but decides to let it slip. It hurts though, knowing the prince still thinks they should just mind their own business and still refuses to lean on him.

"You shouldn't keep everything to yourself! It won't hurt to share your problems with someone else. It feels nice to be heard--"

"I used to share them with Kyuri though."

Kyuri? The princess of Eldoria. Bonggu swallows the lump in his throat as the cold wave of realization washing over him. The prince and that princess's relationship is stronger than anyone thought.

Noticing the change in Bonggu's expression, Hamin realizes what he just blurted out nonchalantly. Very careless of him to mention that person in front of his spouse. He clears his throat, "I- no, not anymore. Used to." Rubbing his nape awkwardly, apologetically. He wonders why he feels apologetic. Okay, maybe because he's aware that Bonggu likes him. But it's not even a news to Bonggu that the prince liked that Eldorian princess. Well, if he actually believed the rumor.

Bonggu's gaze drops, lips purse sadly. Hamin almost can see the imaginary puppy ears drooping in a most dejected way. The smaller guy now is facing the front again, his back is facing the prince. Head is hanging low, oh someone is clearly so upset.

Hamin is internally grunting, slightly panicking. How do people usually console their sulking girlfriend? By actions or by words? Which one is better? He's so inexperienced in this kind of stuff.

"A- Are you crying?" Well, at least, he tries.

Bonggu just quietly shakes his head.

"Sad?"

A shake.

"Mad?"

Another shake.

Hamin rubs his own nape, quietly sighs. "Then, say something."

No response this time.

"Tch. You're so handful." A frown now, he's disliking the silent treatment. "Whatever. You won't see me around again starting this Friday."

Only upon hearing that, Bonggu looks over his shoulder again. "W-Where are you going?" His man just came back, but soon he's about to leave again?

"Ignis. Some things haven't settled yet."

"Uh? But what about the family dinner this Saturday?"

The royal members will have a small family gathering for dinner that usually will only be attended by the king, the queen, the princes and few other super close royal relatives. This gathering takes place twice or thrice every year, depends on everyone's free time.

'But what about Hamin?'

".....I wasn't invited." A short reply after a rather long pause. Hamin meets Bonggu's confused gaze, it looks a little sad now.

"What do you mean... not invited? So, you won't be attending that dinner?"

"No."

"B-But I heard your cousin- prince Joon and his parents will be there too. You're one of the family members, why weren't you invited-"

Hamin lets out a heavy sigh, lightly pinches his nose bridge in annoyance. "Okay let's not talk about this."

Bonggu just can't grasp the fact that his husband is excluded from attending that family gathering. Anger boils in him somehow, he wants to know the reasons but asking more will only annoy the prince. Hamin seems like he isn't ready to share any of these with him either. If only his husband can be more open with him. Carefully, he reaches out his hand and holds Hamin's bigger one. 'I'm sorry, I really need to know what's in your mind.' He internally apologizing for invading the prince's privacy. Hamin is slightly taken aback at the sudden contact that his gaze moves down to their intertwined hands.

'What? Why do you care so much? Don't make that sad face for me.'

"Of course..." Bonggu mutters sadly, quietly but audible enough for the prince to catch. "Of course I care."

'This is nothing new though. I've always been excluded from those family gatherings. Not a big deal, no need to make a fuss.'

"Of course it's a big deal to me!" Bonggu blurts out in frustration, startling the prince. "Is this normal? Is this how they normally treat you?! Just because you're the last prince doesn't mean they can treat you this way!" Tears brim at the corner of his eyes. He got it now. Those old times when he saw the teenager Hamin spending his time alone at the palace backyard, lying on the grass under that one big tree, his usual spot whenever he wants to be alone, Bonggu guessed. Those times when the royal family members were having their family gathering, the last prince was spotted all by himself. But isn't he a part of that family too? He's rarely being invited/included even to official royal occasions.

"Gosh. This is not a big deal--"

"They shouldn't treat you like this." Bonggu whines quietly, voice trembling as he's trying so hard not to cry. When he was younger, he used to hear some unpleasant gossips among the commoners about how the last prince was so rebellious and stubborn that he skipped those royal members' gathering and refused to join them. That wasn't true, Bonggu learns the truth today. Those claims were wrong. The youngest prince didn't skip nor refuse to join their gatherings. He wasn't allowed to.

"I hate this." Bonggu frowns and mumbles in annoyance.

Hamin inhales sharply at the sight, because never in his life, witnessing someone actually care about him this genuinely. He wonders if he even worth crying for. Eyes still glued on the smaller male who's eventually failed to hold back his tears.

Bonggu is crying and sobbing into his sleeves now. It's not that he's sad, but instead he feels so angry. He rarely cries if he's being very honest, he doesn't even get himself right now. Is he so emotionally drained due to a long tiring day today that even if it is a trivial matter, it can affect him hugely? Or simply because anything that hurts the love of his life will also badly hurt him.

The prince wonders if this is what love means; to also feel the same pain when someone you love gets hurt. He wonders just how big Bonggu's love for him. He knows that Bonggu likes and in love with him all this time. But how big is that love? To see Bonggu shedding tears for him tonight makes Hamin realize just how big it is.

However, this scares Hamin a little. Knowing it too well that every love towards him will eventually die or turn into disgust and hate when the time comes. The moment those people find out about his second form, all of them show the same disgusted expression. It scared him.... to imagine that expression on Bonggu's face. 'Will he still love me the same? Or he's just like one of those people?'

Getting rid of those thoughts, he carefully scoots closer to the crying mess in front of him. He has a bigger problem right now. Hesitantly, awkwardly, he uses his right hand to wipe Bonggu's tears away as the latter closes his eyes to the soft warm touch.

"Do you..." Hamin starts again after a long silence. "....wanna come with me to Ignis?"

Bonggu seems surprised at the offer. He didn't see that coming. Their gaze meet again for the second time tonight. "I-Ignis? With you?" He gulps, feeling so happy but trying to play it cool not to show it on his face. "Can I?"

Hamin shrugs, "well... if you want to."

It's obvious the way Bonggu tries to suppress his grin. The next seconds, he fails and cracks a smile despite the still teary eyes. "I wanna go with you."

The prince scoffs and smirks, almost can't believe his eyes. This small guy is so simple, so easy to please. Only a minute ago, he was a crying mess.

Bonggu scoots even closer, leaving only small gap between their faces before he whispers happily. "I like you so much, Your Highness."

Hamin is genuinely thanking the highest entity in this world for the dim surrounding taking place around them right now, or else Bonggu would have probably noticed how he blushed stupidly from that simple sentence. He clears his throat and averts his gaze.

"It's getting colder. We shall head back now."

Oh, he lied. In fact, things get a little too warm for his liking that his heart suddenly beats faster for no reason. No reason? Or maybe it's just him not wanting to acknowledge those reasons.

They head back to the palace and Hamin is finally able to get some rest, physically and mentally, after a long tiring period at Ignis. He managed to meet the representatives of Vilethorn and their troop chief that came to Ignis after being invited by him. They actually sat and talked over the military issue. Hamin let them to explain themselves on why their missiles kept crossing the border as if they purposely targeting Ignis. They came up with the same reason as the last time; training error and young trainee's mistake. Hamin strictly made it clear to them that Ignis had to take precautionary measure if this problem kept repeating in the near future as the lives and safety of Ignisians must come first.

.

.

.

"Dad, I heard Ignis was being 'attacked' again." The second prince starts the topic while they're having the family dinner. Everyone at the table now focusing on him, showing the same silent interest to hear more about that territory. If compared to the other two territories, Asterum and Caelum, Ignis is a bit out of reach. Being the only territory that used to be isolated and abandoned by its own kingdom, it amazed them how developed and successful that place now. They hate to admit but the youngest prince really did so well over there. Giving that territory to him is a right decision made by the king,... except no one ever thought it would be the right decision. No one ever expected Ignis would be this successful. No one ever thought the best territory of the kingdom would belong to that youngest prince slash the cursed prince.

"I heard that too." The king wishes he could just ignore whatever that's going on in Ignis but the fear of the attack gets worsen and negatively impact Caligo overall making him think he should do something.

"Give that territory to me." This time, the first prince interrupts, receiving a disapproval look from his younger brother. "What?"

Prince Taesuk forces out a laughter, a sinister one. "It'll be a lot better under my rule, don't you think so, hyung?"

If they're being honest, Taesuk isn't wrong. His territory has the best troops with the most advanced military weapons among the three territories. So, taking over Ignis and providing that territory with the best troops and promising safety, the people themselves might agree too.... right?

"I want Ignis." He makes it clearer this time. "Let Hamin take mine instead."

"What are you-"

"Why? Hyung, you want Ignis too?"

The king and queen can only sigh as they watch their kids fighting over that one territory nobody used to want. "Quit it, you two. I'll think about this later."

Meanwhile, somewhere at Ignis, the newly married couple just arrived about an hour ago.

Bonggu can't even hide the amazement on his face, eyes big and mouth gaped in awe as soon as he stepped on this land. This is his second time coming to Ignis and it's been so different in good ways; the infrastructure, the culture, the people. Just look at all these buildings? The materials, the design. They are so well-built. The last time he visited this place was when he was a kindergartener on a school trip, and that was solely for the beautiful ocean. Since earlier days, Ignis got one of the best beach Caligo could offer, but considering Ignis was a bit too far from the capital of the kingdom, nobody could see the potential in that beach. Until Hamin took in charge of this place and didn't waste any potential, not for the purpose of exploitation but for the benefits of the locals themselves.

A set of loud gasp can be heard from distance. It's from the commoners and peasants at the night market upon laying their eyes on their prince's spouse for the first time. This visit is very unexpected and unprepared but definitely not unwelcomed. Seeing the couple strolling around together almost feels surreal.

"He's so pretty!" One teenage girl whispers to her mom. The others are no different, whispering among themselves at how unreal this feels to finally be able to see Bonggu in person.

"So, this is one of the Caligo's wizards?"

"We're so blessed to have him as His Highness' spouse."

"They look so good together too!"

"I prefer this wizard than that princess of Eldoria."

"Oh for real." One of them rolls his eyes, remembering the last time that princess paid them a visit, she had a very poor manner. Looking angelic and innocent only when the prince was around. The hypocrisy.

Bonggu gets flustered at the warm welcoming atmosphere from everyone. He awkwardly, shyly smiles and waves back his hand especially to those cute children greeting him happily. Some of the locals even approach him to offer some of the foods they sell at the market, for free. He glances up at his husband behind him, silently asking if he's allowed to take these friendly offers. Hamin juts his chin out and Bonggu happily accepting those foods and drinks upon given approval.

"Shinpei." Hamin signals and without any more words, the assistant just gets it right away. He has been working for the royal family, the last prince especially, for over ten years. By times, words are no longer necessary for them to understand each other.

The dark tied hair male then approaches Bonggu and the crowd, helping the prince's spouse with the bags and goodies he received from the people, carrying them with armfuls.

After a while, Bonggu seems drained out of energy from entertaining the locals and Hamin decides it's enough. The prince holds the slimmer waist from behind, slightly pulling him closer.

"Thank you for all the love." Hamin starts and continues, "but we need to leave now."

"Oh yes, sure, Your Highness. We apologize for the delay." One of the locals replies politely.

Bonggu shakes his head in disapproval and smiles, "don't be!" It's only been an hour and he's already loving his stay here. "Thank you, everyone. We have to leave, His Highness needs to rest now."

"Sure, sure! Thank you for the visit, and have a good rest~"

. . .

Later, they arrive at the private house belongs to Hamin, where the prince will be staying at every time he spends night here. It's spacious and comfortable. After taking turn for a bath, they have a light dinner together in the backyard. All the servants and guards have left to their respective places to stay for the night, leaving the royal couple alone for some privacy.

This house is located on a hill, it manages to capture the beautiful night view of the town and the ocean from the backyard.

Bonggu smiles, melting at the prince's stunning visual. Isn't it rare for that latter to be in a casual outfit? Because usually, it's either a royal attire, something formal or semi-formal. Tonight, Hamin is dressed in a simple black shirt that hugs his torso perfectly, along with a pair of grey sweatpants. Looking a bit different without the usual headgear. Honestly, he looks more casual just like a commoner here than how he is back in the capital where there are so many rules and protocols to follow. He also blends in so well with the locals, as if he's home when he's here in Ignis.

'So, His Highness has this kind of clothing too? Interesting. It looks nothing from the present, fits him so well.'

Meanwhile, Bonggu himself is comfortable in a set of an oversized beige shirt and a pair of shorts. His hair is still slightly damp after the shower he took earlier. Hamin frowns a bit when he first saw the outfit. In his opinion, the pants are too revealing. Too much skin for his liking.

'Never seen any of royals wearing something like this before. Probably a trend among commoners.'

After dinner, Bonggu lays out the foods he received from those friendly locals on the table while Hamin just quietly eyeing them. Various kind of food and snack, some even has never been tried before.

"Ah! Jjondeugi!" Bonggu's eyes sparkle at the sight of the chewy snack. He used to eat it almost every day back then. One of his favourite, to be fair.

Hamin frowns slightly, "what is that?"

Bonggu gasps at the realization that the prince might have never tasted it before. Now he wonders what snacks do the royals usually have? Must be some expensive sh*t.

"Jjondeugi!" He exclaims, excited to introduce it to Hamin.

"Looking like ssal gangjeong." The prince is quick to respond, still with his unamused face and monotonous voice.

"N-No! Are your eyes okay? Your Highness, look." The genuine concern makes this even funnier. "Jjondeugi is a chewy snack comes with various flavor and all of them are so tasty! You should give it a try!" He rips the packaging open and takes a bite, happily enjoys it while having the second and third bite. Hamin is just quietly watching him enjoying those foods. Cheeks so puffy like a cute hamster.

"Your Highness, are you sure you don't want some?" Only after finishing half of the foods on the table that he remembers to ask. His eyes roaming around and they lay on a pack of pepero; cookie sticks dipped in chocolate, nuts and strawberry. "AH! LET'S TRY THIS ONE!" He lifts up the packaging box into the air, grins widely.

Hamin watches it in fear. Oh, what's this about now?

"Have you ever played this game before?"

"G-Game?"

"I've always wanted to try this with someone! Ah finally I got the chance!"

"What game? What- try what?"

"Okay! Let me explain. Whoever gets to have the smallest bite of this pepero will be the winner! LET'S START!"

'WHat? That's it?? Hold on- HOW IS THAT EVEN AN EXPLANATION?!' Hamin is mentally panicking. He still doesn't understand a thing. Smallest bite? How to get that done?

He startles and freezes on his seat when Bonggu suddenly scoots closer with one end of the stick is inside his mouth, between his lips. The prince gulps, no idea what to do. But then, to his relief, Bonggu stops midway and takes it out of his mouth as he needs to say something.

"Wait. Who's gonna start this game first?"

Who else though? Of course the one who knows how the game works. "You."

"Okay! I'll teach you~ Do not move." Then, he proceeds. Putting the other end of the pepero stick into the prince's mouth instead before he decreases the distance between their faces, Hamin spontaneously holds his breath lowkey panicking, seeing the way Bonggu takes another end of the snack into his own mouth and moving forward inch by inch. The prince gulps, the siren inside his head dramatically goes off when Bonggu's eyes flirt with his. Oh. The air in this backyard was chilly just a few minutes ago, now it's getting unusually warm. Hot.

'He said not to move? But isn't he getting too close right now? What's going on? Is this game even existed or this is just a prank? Gosh, I won't let it slip if this turns out to be a stupid prank.'

His mind is so busy with all the thoughts until he hears a soft crack coming from the snack and he comes to his sense again. Bonggu is holding a small size of the pepero stick in between his fingers now, waving it happily.

"I got it this tiny! Beat me, Your Highness!"

Hamin blinks in confusion but then the gears in his brain finally worked and he gets the whole idea. So, this game is basically about who gets to have the smallest size of the stick by biting it? Easy-peasy.

"Your turn now, you ready?" Bonggu grins, challenging.

And the prince just hates being challenged. He shrugs, "bring it on."

'Owwww His Highness is so attractively hot right now!' Bonggu internally fanboying over his own husband. This time, he's the one who needs to stay still while holding one end of the stick in his mouth. The prince seems a bit hesitant to move until Bonggu nods encouragingly.

Clearing his throat, Hamin finally takes another end of that snack with his mouth. He feels so embarrassed right now but the competitiveness in his nature beats him. 'I just need to get this stick even shorter than his just now! He thinks I can't? Just you watch!'

Expectation; he moves forward confidently, rather quickly and aggressively, eager to win the game.

Reality; he moves ever so slightly, carefully, inch by inch, shyly, nervously, sweating dramatically.

Bonggu mentally coos and laughs at this cute side of the grumpy prince. His eyes shut, trying so hard to suppress his laughter out loud.

The next seconds he opens his eyes again, they get wider in shock as Hamin's face is so close to his own by a few centimeters, and yet the latter still keeps going. 'Ehh?'

The prince shows no sign of stopping. Brows furrow in all seriousness as if his life depends on this game.

The panic siren inside Bonggu's head explodes the moment Hamin's lips literally touch his, pressed ever so lightly as the prince finally bites the pepero stick. Bonggu's eyes widen in surprised and flustered, face blushed and there's an imaginary smoke coming out of his ears and the top of his head. For seconds, his brain malfunctions and he forgets how to breathe.

'We kissed!?!'

They just kissed.

On the other hand, the male in front of him seems so calm and unbothered. While being expressionless, he shows off the remaining pepero stick on his big palm, it's literally only crumbs left. Everyone could tell who's the winner of this game. Hamin is so competitive indeed. But the thing is....

"F-Foul!!!!" Bonggu exclaims, his fingertips lightly graze over his own lips. The feels of the other lips is still lingering on his. Hamin jolts at the loud scream and frowns. Living with this loudspeaker for another year will give him a deadly heart attack.

"Our lips shouldn't touch! That's the rule! So, no! You're not winning this!"

Hamin shoots him a lazy disbelief look. 'Are you being serious?' "I don't remember you mentioned this rule before we started this game."

Bonggu flinches, "ah- really? I- I didn't mention it?" His bad then. He rubs his nape awkwardly, apologetically. However, the playful devil inside him just had to tease the prince and not letting him get a break.

He smirks teasingly, eyelids flutter in seductive manner. "Or... you actually pretended not to know the rule just so you could kiss me?"

"What-?" The prince is taken aback at the accusation. A small crease forms in between his brows.

"Eheyyy~ Your Highness~ Don't be shy, just admit it~ You like it, don't you?"

"L-Like what?"

"Kissing me?"

"N-No! Why would I?!"

Seeing the panicked prince gets all red and flustered, Bonggu internally giggles and finds it amusing.

"Idk? Maybe you can't get enough of me and want more kisses--"

"I'm not! I- you didn't even explain all the rules! How did you expect me to--"

Bonggu laughs and cuts the man mid-sentence. "Okay, okay. I'm just kidding, Your Highness." He grins but it slowly fades as he notices the prince's small not-too-obvious pout. Someone is definitely annoyed and pissed off. Bonggu feels bad now. 'Oh no. I screwed up.'

"I- I'm sorry. I took it too far, did I? I'm so sorry, Your Highness."

Hamin takes a glance from the corner of his eyes. "Are you sure you're sorry?"

Bonggu nods twice with those apologetic puppy eyes.

"If you're really sorry then,......"

.

.

.

"EHHHHH???!?!! BUT YOU TOLD ME THAT WE'RE GOING TO SEE FISHES?" Bonggu can't believe he's being scammed by his own husband.

"If you're really sorry then, let's see fishes with me tomorrow."

"Yes?"

"Th-Then what are we doing here?" The smaller guy half whispers.

They just arrived outside a seafood restaurant for a breakfast, two royal armors tag along to ensure the royal couple's safety as usual despite this is just a casual outing. All the restaurant staffs immediately line up inside the place upon seeing the royal carriage, nervous yet excited to greet the couple.

"Fishes." Hamin with his straight face, naively pointing a finger at a fish tank near the entrance of the building. "It's a seafood restaurant."

Bonggu holds the urge to roll his eyes. Yea, a seafood restaurant. As if that's not obvious enough. He pouts grumpily though, fists clench into small balls.

The prince genuinely confused, raising an eyebrow. "Where did you expect when I said fish last night?"

His tiny spouse huffs quietly and mumbles, "the beach." before entering the restaurant, yet still flustered and greets back politely when the staffs welcome him warmly.

He thought it was the beach.

"Pfft." Hamin nearly breaks into a fit of laughter. Now it makes sense. No wonder Bonggu was so excited this morning, asking him if he should put on the sunscreen right away or later, and if they needed the picnic mat too. He's even wearing a cute sun hat and floral outfit right now, everyone else in this restaurant must be so puzzled looking at the prince's spouse. He steps into the restaurant, following suit.

Meanwhile, the two armors are dumbstruck outside the building for a spell because did they hear it right just now? The prince was about to burst into a laughter? Their grumpy prince who even hardly smiles? They exchange a brief glance with the you heard that too don't you? eyebrows raise.

For those who have been working for the prince all these years, they can't help but notice how that royal youngest has been acting strange lately. By strange, they meant wanting to go back to the capital from his work in Ignis as soon as possible, started enjoying sweet foods and caught holding back his snicker or laughter when the spouse was around.

"I told you, His Highness is in love." One of the armors half whispers before entering the building, leaving the other one dumbfounded.

. . .

"You're telling me he's back to Ignis again? And this time with Bonggu-nim?" Prince Taesuk seems amused to receive that news from one of the royal servants about the last prince's whereabout.

The said servant nods. She was in the middle of watering plants in the front yard garden when the prince suddenly approached her earlier. "Why is The Prince looking for His Highness? Any message should I deliver-"

"No, no, it's fine. I could just wait for his come back." Taesuk smiles and instantly melts the servant's heart. Oh, he has that charm of melting everyone's heart though. He is the nation's sweetheart, the people's favorite prince. Every person will crumble at the sight of his sweet smile, let's be real, except one. Except that one wizard that always has his eyes locked on the last prince instead. No heart eyes whatsoever when looking at Prince Taesuk and whoever that's not Prince Hamin. It pissed Taesuk off a little.

"Y-Yes, Your Highness!" She stutters in the process of recovering from receiving the smile. Prince Taesuk chuckles lowly before leaving the spot. He knows the power he holds and he enjoys flirting, seeing others fall for him despite having a fiancée of his own.

'So, they are together at Ignis right now?' Taesuk smirks, "I thought he said he hated that wizard."

Well, at least now he knows his younger brother's weakness. That wizard.

. . .

"How is it, sir Bonggu?" The main chef asks, glad to see the positive reaction from the royal couple especially Bonggu, towards the meals served.

"Eh?! Uh, s-s- so good!! I love everything! E-Everything is so good!" Bonggu puts his thumbs up, it looks awkward somehow. He gets flustered and shy so easily when receiving so much attention from people. Hamin just happened to notice this.

'Cute.'

The chef and his staffs exhale in relief, happy to know that the prince's spouse is enjoying all the foods and satisfied with everything here.

"How about our prince? Is it good, Your Highness?" Now, their attention is back to thee prince. Hamin with his straight face signature only nods his head in approval while slicing the grilled salmon on his plate in a very ✨demure✨ way. Bonggu nearly chokes up upon seeing it and realizes that he has his own knife right beside his plate, untouched. He literally used a spoon and fork for everything that a prawn nearly flew across the place once earlier when he tried to skin it. It was a ✨disaster✨. Oh he badly needs the chopsticks.

Clearing his throat, Bonggu finally picks up the abandoned knife.... yet he doesn't know how to use it. What a poor cutlery skill. Probably feeling too nervous or pressured from all these gazes on them, because to be fair, this salmon is tender and juicy. It should be easy to cut it though. Seeing him struggle again, the prince decides to lend a hand. He exchanges their plates momentarily, helping Bonggu with cutting the salmon into small pieces.

"Ah..." Bonggu slowly puts his cutlery down, flustered.

Hamin returns the plate back to Bonggu and takes his own from in front of the latter once he's done with the act of service.

"Thank you!" The spouse half whispers, grinning in gratitude before pouts grumpily when the unromantic prince replies nothing and continues eating his portion. "What a pain in the arse. A you're welcome won't hurt though." He clicks his tongue quietly but starts digging in happily again.

All the staffs are back into the kitchen and continue doing their respective task entertaining the other customers inside the restaurant, giving the royal couple and the two assistants a privacy. Some of the customers don't even miss the opportunity to greet the royal couple before leaving the place. Much to their relief, Bonggu is so friendly and humble, a very cheerful character. The very opposite to their beloved prince Hamin who's as cold as stone outside yet everyone knows just how warm he is inside, the only royal member of Caligo who has always been so caring towards the Ignisians. Hamin really needs someone as bright as Bonggu in his dull life after all.

After having a great time at the restaurant, they get into the carriage again for their next destination. The whole journey, Bonggu enthusiastically talks about the one time he paid Ignis a visit when he was still a kid and the prince only listens quietly.

"But at that time, there was not much to see here. The best thing was its beach--" Bonggu's words paused mid sentence as his eyes catch the glimpse of blue and sandy land from distance. His eyes grow bigger, sparkling at the sight outside the window. "The beach!!" They're really going to visit this beach? Hamin is kind enough to take his wife on an Ignis tour. "Your Highness, are we going to the beach?!"

Hamin briefly replies without even glancing at the smaller guy sitting next to him. "As you can see." He knows that the big bright smile on Bonggu's excited face right now will be too much for his heart him to handle. So, he avoids looking at it.

Bonggu grins happily, "thank you, Your Highness!" He beams another smile before bringing his gaze back to the ocean. Their carriage is getting closer to the spot. Hamin steals a glance at the latter from the corner of his eyes. Oh. Someone is definitely so happy about this that he can't stop smiling and grinning.

As soon as they arrive at the said beach, Bonggu is so quick to jump off the carriage, can't wait to just straight away heading to the shore line. The armors turn panicked seeing how fast the small guy speeding away from this carriage, thank goodness he didn't fall down nor twist his ankle in the process. Prince Hamin literally facepalms at the sight.

"Your Highness, he-"

"Let him be." Hamin cuts, calmly stepping out of the carriage. "He's having a great time. Both of you should too. It's okay, I'll take it from here."

The two armors get the memo and comply with the order. They are given permission to enjoy their time somewhere else and giving the royal couple some privacy. "Yes, Your Highness." They will be back in probably one hour.

"Your Highness!!!!"

Three of them turn to the same direction, a little startled at the loudness. Bonggu is throwing his arms up in the air, waving them excitedly.

"I found pretty shells!!! Do you wanna see?! I'll show you, come here, Your Highness!"

The two armors crack a smirk at the overloaded cuteness. Oh, to be in love. They leave the spot and head to a small cafe nearby for some refreshments.

"O-Or I'll come to you- wait there, Your Highness!" Bonggu jogs towards the prince and stops right in front of the latter. He shows the various shape of colorful shells on his palms. "They are so pretty, right?!"

Hamin just stares at those shells wordlessly, yes they're pretty but not really that eye-catching to him though. Seeing the wife is still eagerly waiting for any reaction or response from him, he clears his throat and tries. "Not bad.... I guess."

"Duh. Saying that with a straight face, that's the most plain reaction I've ever seen in life."

Hamin frowns as he's being teased, ready to fight back but Bonggu chuckles and grabs him by his hand. "Hey-!"

"Let's get your feet in the water!" The smaller one announces and about to lead the prince towards the shore line but then he hears the thought inside the latter's head.

'So handful. He's nothing like Princess Kyuri. No elegance whatsoever. Not even a single thought inside that little head of his, probably.'

Something in Bonggu breaks a little that he instantly let go of Hamin's hand. He pauses his steps abruptly and the prince follows the suit questioningly. What now?

Knowing the fact that this prince hasn't moved on from his past relationship with the princess and she's still living rent free inside his head until now....

Bonggu didn't expect much, in fact, he never expected much from this marriage. It's an arranged one, anyway. But to realize how one-sided all of these and that his feelings will never be reciprocated, it's such a big slap of hurtful reality.

"What-?"

As Hamin was about to ask, Bonggu cut almost quickly with a forced chuckle.

"I- uh, I--"

Oh great, his head feels a little dizzy. He hates this ability. How much he wishes he can't read people's thoughts, so at least he can pretend as if this feeling is mutual.

"I wanna look for more shells!! I'll show them to you later! You can just wait here, Your Highness!"

"I thought you wanted me to tag alo-"

"No! You'll just bother me!" Bonggu huffs playfully and grins before running back to the shore line. Being compared to someone else, the past girlfriend to make it worse, is the last thing Bonggu wished to happen. It hurts. But he has to remind himself again how he should be grateful enough that the prince had agreed to marry him. He should not ask for more.

Hamin frowns and sighs. He can never understand this one person despite they've been married for almost half a year. 'So complicated.' Quietly watching the wizard from distance, the latter seems so locked-in while looking for his shells. He gets excited at pretty much everything, just like a kid. 'So simple.' Hamin thinks, contradicting the previous thought. Bonggu is so simple... yet so complicated. What an interesting friend.

. . .

"Are you okay?" Yejun takes a seat next to Noah in the kitchen. The latter seems restless since this morning, as if something is bothering his mind. Eunho and Maria are having some works to do at the town.

"Yejun."

"Something is wrong?"

He knows Noah too well now that they've been living with each other for decades. The blonded wizard has a habit of biting his nail when he's bothered by something.

Noah sighs heavily into his palms, Yejun rubs his back encouragingly.

"Bonggu."

"Yes?"

"He tags along with His Highness to Ignis."

Phew. Yejun internally sighs in relief. He thought it was anything worse than this.

"Ok? Isn't that good? Coming with his husband on a work trip?" He questions, genuinely confused as to why Noah is bothered by it.

"I... I don't know. I just think... it wasn't really a good idea."

"For him to be with his husband or to go to Ignis?"

"Both."

A brief silence, only birds chirping in the air. Soon enough, Yejun speaks again.

"Noah, maybe you're just overthinking things. Give it a break."

He said that, yet he doubts himself. Noah? The wizard who could foreseen future harms? Overthinking? Maybe that's not the word.

"What if they'll be in danger, Yejun?"

"Hey, calm down." The darker haired male scoots closer. "What if is an assumption. It's not even confirmed, right? Believe everything will be fine. His Highness may seem like he doesn't care at all, but actually he cares a lot. He won't let anybody lay a finger on our Bonggu. Okay?"

Noah grunts grumpily. He glances at Yejun, slightly pouting. "How are you so sure His Highness cares?"

Yejun shrugs and smiles, "I kinda... guessing."

A few weeks ago, prince Hamin did ask for his help to not let any rain pouring down and let the morning be windy instead so it wouldn't be too hot. It was when Bonggu had an outdoor activity for his lesson with the tutor and some royal servants. If the prince doesn't care, he wouldn't have asked Yejun for those things.

"Just believe. Okay?"

At last, Noah nods as he listens to the older male.

"Have you eaten breakfast yet?"

"Not hungry."

"Pancake is okay? I'll make you some." Yejun gets up from his seat and grabs a cooking pan. Noah scoffs and smirks endearingly. This stubborn wizard just won't listen to him.

. . .

Bonggu runs back to where Hamin is sitting; on a tree bench a few feets away from the shore line. "Your Highness!" He stops right in front of the prince and shows off a medium-sized glittery pinkish shell on his palm. "I found this friend. Isn't it pretty?!"

It really does, Hamin has never seen a glittery one before. He takes the shell from the other's palm and closely inspecting it. Is the glitter for real?

Seeing the curiosity and interest from the prince, Bonggu finds it amusing. He smiles fondly, "I'll give it to you as a present."

Hamin brings his gaze up, looking at the smaller male in puzzled. Bonggu sure likes to give him something as present. First, the necklace. Now, this shell. Not to mention, those cookies and desserts he used to bring for him after the daily lessons. 'This must be his love language.'

Their gazes meet for a good minute before Hamin breaks it first as he brings his focus back to the shell in his hold. A low hesitant thank you can barely heard from the prince, but Bonggu hears it almost clearly. Hamin is someone who's so full of ego, of pride, he won't let others see his tender side. But lately... only lately, Bonggu begins to sense some small changes in his prince. Slowly, the husband lets him takes one step closer at a time, breaking the wall around himself a brick by a brick.

Lord. Bonggu can't hold it back, this love keeps growing bigger each day. His chest can barely endure this much love that it'll combust any of these days. He gulps, doesn't even think twice as he leans down and gives a peck on the prince's cheek. Of course the latter gives the exact reaction as how he'd expected it; surprised and speechless. No anger in those eyes but maybe a little annoyed. Bonggu forgot just how much Hamin hates skinship or any kind of intimacy, but hopefully a kiss on the cheek isn't crossing the line.

Bonggu chuckles apologetically when the prince wipes off his cheek, obviously bothered by the kiss. But if he dislikes it this much, then why he seems flustered? Why is he blushing?

"W-Wh- What are you d-doing?"

Why is he stuttering?

Hamin frowns, avoiding any eye contact with Bonggu again. Silently praying for the spouse not to catch the sound of his stupidly rapid heartbeat.

However, Bonggu being Bonggu. So bold and honest in expressing his feelings as if this is his last and only chance to do so.

"Your Highness, I love you."

Hamin sighs, still not looking back at the wife.

"I love you so much." Bonggu continues. 'Although that heart of yours belong to someone else, I wish you can save just a little part for me.'

Seeing the prince is still not giving any reply nor response, not even looking at him back, Bonggu takes it as a sign of rejection. This is not the first time though, so it isn't supposed to hurt anymore, right? He should have already used to being pushed away like this.

So, why does it still hurt so badly?

He wants to touch Hamin to know what's in that mind but he has to stop himself from doing so because what if he's thinking of his beloved princess Kyuri again?

Taking a deep inhale, Bonggu makes a peace with his fate. Second choice is still a choice, he'll be happy with just that.

"I'm thirsty. I'll go to the cafe first." He says and leaves the spot to join the two royal armors who're still chilling at the small beach cafe.

Meanwhile, Hamin internally groans and sighs again, his head in one palm. Receiving that I love you is like a burden somehow. In the past, none of these loves could last long because once they knew the truth about his second identity, love turned into disgust. And when their memories being removed by the wizard, their love for him vanished along.

So, he wonders, what face will Bonggu makes once he sees his second form. Scared? Disgusted? 'Will he still love me the same?'

Saying that I love you so naively, as if it'll lasts forever. Bonggu is so clueless, so innocent.... so ignorant.

Stroking back his dark hair, he exhales heavily. Now zoning out into the calming view of the blue sea in front of him. He has no idea what the future holds for this marriage but is it too much for him to wish it can last forever?

Won't it be good that way?

Forever...

Hold on.

Hamin is taken aback by his own thought. What did he just imagine? A forever?? Does he want a forever with Bonggu??? He straightens up almost instantly and clears his throat. This is so awkward.

'The kiss just now made me weird.'

He closes his eyes, breathing evenly as the cool breeze greets his face and runs through his dark locks. It's so calming, as if the ocean waves just washed away his problems and uneasiness.

The sound of waves and birds chirping, he's imagining a heaven.

Until some noises and chaos interrupt the peace noon. He jolts and snaps his eyes open again, turns to where the noises are coming from. It's from outside the nearby cafe. The two royal armors are seen preventing three locals from approaching Bonggu.

What's going on?

Hamin is quick to get on his feet, heading fast for those people in concerned and puzzled.

"What's the matter?"

"Your Highness!" Those armors slightly back away, yet still not letting go the old couple. "They tried to hurt sir Bonggu."

"We did not!!" The wife goes on defensive mode.

"They got aggressive just now." One of the armor tells the prince.

"What did you do to him?" Hamin frowns, attention full on the couple now. Get Bonggu injured while on this trip is the last thing Hamin wished to happen.

"Your Highness, please listen. It's not like what you think. I- I apologised for acting reckless just now--"

"I asked you what did you do to him!"

"Y-Your Highness, I don't think they tried to hurt me." Bonggu takes a step closer and holds the prince's arm, whispers hesitantly.

"My wife held sir Bonggu by his elbows and shook him a bit too hard, it scared him. We apologized. She's just so desperate for help." He seems apologetic.

"What help you need?" The prince asks again, still frowning. Is it necessary to act violent like that though?

"Our son." The wife speaks this time, pulling their son closer. That young boy seems so pale, so thin. He's clearly unwell. "We beg for sir Bonggu's help to heal our son's sickness. We did bring him to multiple doctors but none of them knew what to do. We assume this is an unknown illness."

Travelling to the capital from Ignis is too costly for them. Therefore, personally meeting up with the wizard almost sounded impossible. So, now that Bonggu is here in Ignis, the family wouldn't waste this biggest opportunity they finally got.

"Please help us. We need a physician like you, sir Bonggu. Please help our son. He's our only child. Please save him." Both parents plead for their son.

Hamin wants to reject the request but Bonggu is quick to accept it.

"I'll try."

The prince brings his disbelief gaze back to the spouse, those eyes silently asking him if he's sure. Bonggu nods reassuringly. This has been his career, his job, his responsibility for decades. Nothing's new. This boy is just another patient of his. He never refuses when someone is in need.

"But I need to check on his condition first."

"Thank you so much, sir! Thank you, really!" Tears began to roll down their faces, holding Bonggu's hands to show gratitude. Bonggu glances at the boy, he seems really sick. How old is he? Barely seven?

"Any news from Ignis?"

The king asks, his second son is there standing next to the office desk. A royal servant just entered the room, bringing some gifts from the neighboring kingdoms. This gifts giving is a yearly tradition that's been going on for more than decades in the purpose of maintaining their positive diplomacy. Caligo as the superior kingdom is always the one to receive all these kinds of gifts and offerings.

"Ignis?" The servant is confused. Since when did the king care so much about that abandoned territory? Not only the king but also the other royal members, showing great interest in Ignis lately.

"The last prince hasn't come back from Ignis yet." Prince Taesuk interrupts. It's been more than three weeks now, almost one month. "We just wondered if everything was fine there." He continues, trying to make things seem less strange or questionable. It works for the servant as his slightly frowned face now easing up right away.

"Oh, yes. I understand." The servant replies. "I heard they're offering some aids-- I mean, sir Bonggu. He's busy providing a rehabilitation service for the locals. I guess that's why His Highness hasn't returned home yet, to give sir Bonggu some company."

"I wonder how much he charges for every patient."

"It's not some sort of business but more like a charity." The servant explains. The second prince nods in defeat. Okay. A charity it is. For sure, Hamin and the spouse are winning the locals' hearts even more after all these charity acts. But that territory needs to go from that youngest prince's grip no matter what. Also, staying in Ignis for weeks just to accompany Bonggu, isn't that just too sweet for someone who multiple times claimed that he despised the marriage and would never love the spouse back?

Taesuk snorts. At least, he knows that someone's heart has started to change. If Hamin doesn't want to let go Ignis, Taesuk can think of something else; making the last prince choose between two important things he loves. Only one.

It's a Saturday morning. Bonggu seems less busy now that it's been a month since he started this voluntary work. On daily basis, he would receive around fifty patients in average. Sometimes, he even barely get any break and rest.

"Sir Bonggu, are you sure you want to keep doing this for another month?" Shinpei, the prince's personal assistant asks in concern. They're in the front yard, he's helping Bonggu setting up the table and all as usual. "I'm afraid His Highness has to go back to the capital soon."

"Then, His Highness can leave first. I can't just say no to these people. They keep pleading for my help." Bonggu is in dilemma himself. Feeling bad for the locals who come to seek for his help, in the same time feeling bad for his husband having to stay here with him even longer than it should. But it's not like he asked Hamin to stay though.

In fact, in the last few days, he did tell the prince to just go back to the capital first if he got any work to be done there. The prince refused.

"I-I'm not staying because you're here or whatsoever. Don't be so full of yourself." He explained himself almost immediately when he received a questionable look from Bonggu.

"I didn't say anything though~~" Bonggu just had to tease the prince, of course.

Shinpei quietly sighs when Bonggu nods, firm with his plan to continue this work for another one more month. The latter looks tired already. All he could think about in these past few weeks was the locals' wellbeing. Maybe he should start taking care of himself as well.

"We'll go back to capital next week."

A deep familiar voice greets them from behind, Shinpei turns around immediately.

"Your Highness!"

"No." Bonggu is being stubborn. His gaze lowkey challenging Hamin's sharp deathly one.

The prince's brows furrow at the stubbornness. "I said, next week. You choose what day."

Helping those people in need is good, it's an angelic act. However, Hamin and all the royal servants think alike that Bonggu overdid it and he has reached his limit. Only last night, Bonggu had a nosebleed again and couldn't sleep well from coughing. This morning, he seems so pale like a living corpse. Bonggu needs a proper rest and now it's time for him to prioritize his own health first.

"I don't want to."

"This is not a request but an order." Hamin sounds so cold and serious, angry in his tone too, as he emphasizes each word. Jaw tightens, trying not to lose his temper. He gave Bonggu one whole month to do this voluntary work and it should be enough by now.

That deep serious tone sends shivers down Bonggu's spine. If it's an order from the prince, Bonggu has no other option but to obey.

"But... they need me here." The smaller male mutters, slightly shaky in his tone as if he's about to collapse in tiredness and disappointment as he pleads the prince to let him stay. Eyes hot as tears brimmed.

"Those people in capital need you too, your wizard friends need you too there." Now, the prince tries to persuade.

"They will understand." Bonggu is quick to wipe off the small tears at the corner of his eyes using his sleeve when they're about to fall. "My wizard friends will understand--"

"How about me? If I say I need you, and for you not to get sick. Will you change your mind and go back to capital?"

A silence, Bonggu seems taken aback. Is this some sort of confession or what? The prince needs him? The prince wishes him not to get sick? Going back to capital so he can finally rest properly? Will he change his mind if the prince needs him? Will he? Bonggu can almost hear his own loud thumping heartbeat, is his face blushed too? Because it feels warm, his cheeks feel warm, and hot. So hot that his head suddenly gets dizzy, the world around him is suddenly spinning.... oh no. He forms a soft small smile, still looking tired as ever.

"Fine, let's go bac-"

Before he can even finish his words, his nose bleeds up again and in a blink, he faints and collapsing down. Hamin catches him on time, surprised and terrified. Shinpei and the other royal servants rush over to the royal pair, panicking at the unexpected scene.

The prince carries his unconscious spouse in his arms, ordering Shinpei to get the transport ready and for the other servants to pack only the important things to bring along. "We're going back to capital today." They'll be going back to the capital of Caligo today but first, they need to bring Bonggu to the nearest clinic to get his health condition checked.

. . .

"You really did it?"

"I told you, I had to."

"Impressive."

"You told me, that's the only way. It's a win-win situation for both of us."

The second prince scoffs and smirks, "right. A win-win situation."

Each of them has their own goal, and by doing this, they wish to achieve what they desire.

. . .

"Can't tell exactly who and if this is on purpose or unintentionally... but, someone delivered poison into sir Bonggu's body. Probably when he was curing people and this poison being transferred." The doctor says, he can't think of any other reason. Because how else could this very unfamiliar type of poison be inside the body?

Hamin frowns. Letting Bonggu does this work turned out to be a very bad decision. But how could he say no when the latter kept pleading with those big puppy eyes. Dammit. He should have just rejected the request. He shouldn't just ignore the uneasiness he felt from the beginning.

If this is intentional, means one of those people who came to see Bonggu any of these days was a traitor acting like a normal Ignisian but actually intended to hurt the prince's spouse? This voluntary work somehow has opened more doors and given more opportunity to everyone with evil intentions out there.

"As for now, sir Bonggu just need a rest. If possible, take a break from curing illnesses. About how to treat this poison out of his body, I'm so sorry, Your Highness. This is not my expertise. I can only sense the presence of poison inside system."

The news about Bonggu's bad health is widely spread among Ignisians in no time. The whole territory is grieving and praying for his speed recovery. None of them comes to ask for his help anymore, they're being considerate and understanding. Some of them even give herbs and traditional meds to Bonggu, wishing they could help lessen the pain by doing that much. Bonggu and Hamin thank them for their thoughtfulness and hospitality.

The youngest prince, his wife and their royal companions leave Ignis and head back to the capital soon enough, hoping to find a better solution for this poison.
