The Holiday House Party

Summary:

Noelle hosts a house party

Work Text:

(Dantz and Noelle arrive at the park together, they are walking)

Noelle: Thanks for inviting me to the park, Dantz.

Dantz: You are always welcome Noelle. So, do you know what happened in our school lately? It was a few weeks ago, but it was funny. Peters was playing football, and he tripped when he got a touchdown. Can you believe it?

Noelle: (Giggles) Wait, he did?

Dantz: Yeah. It got in the hall of fame on a school football website.

(Dantz shows Noelle the video)

Dantz: I think that was the touchdown that led to the entire team winning.

(The two go on the sidewalk)

Dantz: So, Noelle, what’s been going on? You know, it’s getting near your birthday.

Noelle: Gosh, it’s getting close.

Dantz: Yeah I know.

(Dantz counts his fingers)

Dantz: It’s three days away, can you believe it?

Noelle: No, I can’t.

Dantz: Well, what are you going to do for your birthday?

Noelle: I don’t have anything planned.

Dantz: Okay.

(The two pass by a pond)

Dantz: Noelle, isn’t that small pond?

Noelle: Yes it is.

(Dantz takes a good glance at the algae filled pond, there is a sign near the pond)

Dantz: Let’s see what it says.

(The sign reads “Property of Hometown Station Park”)

Dantz: Oh, I thought it would be more interesting.

(The two go to the field)

(Dantz spots a swing, he runs to it)

Dantz: Hey Noelle, can I go on the swing?

Noelle: Sure, I don’t mind.

(Dantz gets on the swing)

Dantz: (Thinking) This feels so amazing. Just being on here. Just chilling. I wonder what Noelle is thinking.

Noelle: (Thinking) Dantz can be so childlike, his brother probably gets it from him.

Dantz: (Jumps off the swing) Noelle, I’m 13, what do you mean I am a lot like a child!? (Thinking) Dang it, I didn’t mean to do that!

(Noelle blushes intensely to Dantz reading her mind)

Noelle: Dantz…

Dantz: What?

(Noelle slaps Dantz then she runs off)

Dantz: Noelle! Wait up!

(Dantz is chasing Noelle)

Noelle: Leave me alone, now!

Dantz: Wait, you stopped loving me?

Noelle: Just leave me alone!

Dantz: No, I need to know what’s wrong.

Noelle: I said, leave me alone!

(Catty and Bratty see this interaction)

Catty: Oh my gosh, darling, do you see Dantz over there?

Bratty: Me too.

Catty: He’s fixin to lose a relationship with little Noelle over yonder.

Bratty: No, way.

Catty: She seems madder than a wet hen. Bless his heart if they break up. (Yelling at Dantz) Darling, if you two don’t want your relationship to be cattywampus you betta’ leave Noelle alone.

(Berdly flys to pick up Dantz)

Berdly: (Smirking) Oh don’t worry ladies, Berdly is here to save the day.

(He drags Dantz to somewhere else while he is flying, bringing Dantz to a nearby pine tree Catty and Bratty lose their smiles)

Berdly: (Smirking) So you like chasing girls?

Dantz: (Angrily) Don’t you do the same thing too-

Berdly: Nonsense! I think I have higher charisma and gamer energy to you.

Dantz: Berdly, you don’t understand a single thing about charisma- Hey! Are you even listening?

Berdly: Don’t worry Dantz, love can be messy. So, why don’t you just accept the fact that you won’t be with anyone, shortie.

Dantz: (Angrily) Don’t call me little!

(Dantz slams Berdly upon the tree trunk)

Berdly: (Smirking) What are you going to do? Cheat on your partner? Come here.

(Berdly does a kissy face to taunt Dantz)

Dantz: Berdly, no.

Berdly: Hmph, guess you don’t want to be friends with me.

(Berdly blows Dantz away using his wings, causing Dantz to fall out of the tree, Dantz lands in the grass)

Berdly: And you can’t even land right! You are just INFERIOR to me.

(Berdly laughs while flying, going to the pine tree at Noelle’s bench, it starts raining and Noelle goes to a picnic pavilion)

Dantz: Noelle, where is she?

(Dantz feels the rain on his shirt)

Dantz: Aw man! It’s raining.

(Dantz runs to a roofed area, and finds a simliar face)

Dantz: There you are, I was looking for you. How are you doing?

(Noelle is looking down)

Noelle: I feel pretty bad for slapping you, I just didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want you to know that? Why do you feel like you have to read my mind?

Dantz: Because I don’t keep a secret from you. And, I think during the summer that if we were to keep a secret, we would tell it to each other if we didn’t want to tell anybody.

(Flashback in Dantz’s room)

Dantz: Hey Noelle, you didn’t like me reading your mind, so, is it okay if I make a promise?

Noelle: Sure Dantz, what is it?

Dantz: If we want to make sure that our relationship is decent, I think it’s best if we tell each other our secrets. I don’t want skeletons in the closet. Is that okay? It’s to help us, I am a bit paranoid and I’m afraid when you hide things from me.

Noelle: I’m okay with that. Why are you paranoid? It’s me.

Dantz: It more has to do with me.

(Back to the present)

Dantz: And we talked about our secrets and we were made for each other.

Noelle: Gosh, we are. Dantz, I’m sorry for slapping you.

Dantz: I accept. Just if you get embarrassed, don’t slap me again. Got it?

Noelle: Yeah…

(Noelle stares down)

Noelle: There was one secret I was keeping from you. Here.

(Noelle hands Dantz an envelope)

Berdly: (Spying, thinking) An envelope? What’s happening here.

(Dantz opens the envelope)

Dantz: An invintation!?

(The envelope reads, for being a good boyfriend to me, I am inviting you to a house party on December 25)

Dantz: Thank you Noelle.

Noelle: You’re welcome, Dantz.

Dantz: So, who is also coming?

Noelle: Our friends and some other students from our middle school.

(Berdly flies to his home)

Berdly: (To himself) A party, eh? I’ll just have to invite myself to it.

(Cut to Berdly’s room)

Berdly: (Writing) To my most favorite friend, I am inviting you to MY house party on 12/25/24. Perfect!

(Berdly seals it in an envelope, cut to Dantz’s room)

Dantz: (Writing in his journal) I hope this party is going to be good. I should have told Noelle about Berdly’s fake invitation.

(Dantz draws his and Noelle’s reaction to Berdly trying to be the center of attention, Toriel knocks on the door)

Toriel: Dantz, my child. It’s almost time for your party.

(Dantz checks his watch)

Dantz: It is!?

(Dantz removes his hoodie and puts on a polo shirt, he goes to the bathroom and puts deoderant and cologne on, then he brushes his hair, he picks up his socks and shoes and goes to the living room)

Dantz: Hey mom, do I look good?

Toriel: You look just fine, my child. I would like if you walked with Asriel, I don’t want him to be led astray.

Dantz: Mom, you know Asriel is pretty recognizeable.

Toriel: Dantz, I am not looking for an argument. Now please, walk with your brother.

Dantz: I didn’t want an argument mom. I’ll walk with Azzy.

Toriel: Thank you, I hope you have a good time.

(Cut to Asriel’s room, Asriel is playing video games on his TV)

Asriel: All right! High score!

(Dantz knocks on Asriel’s bedroom door)

Dantz: Hey Azzy, are you ready yet?

Asriel: I am.

(Asriel walks out, he is in his usual outfit)

Asriel: I am ready to party.

(Asriel wears a smile)

Dantz: Alright, let’s go.

(The two get out of the house)

(Intermission)

(On the road)

Dantz: So Azzy, remember when we first met?

Asriel: Yeah, I do.

(Flashback to the past, inside Mt. Ebott)

Younger Dantz: So this is where I pick up Azzy. I’ve got this.

(Dantz jumps down the hole, it’s a good drop)

Younger Dantz: (Lands) Ouch!

(Dantz inspects his legs)

Younger Dantz: Good, no injuries.

(Dantz checks his pockets, the SOUL is still there)

Younger Dantz: Don’t worry about it, once this SOUL reaches Flowey, you won’t be attacked no more.

(Dantz goes into the ruins, and finds Flowey)

Flowey: Hiya! I’m Flowey, I wonder why you’re here. I’ll just tell ya a little lesson, human.

(Flowey starts to look a little more evil)

Flowey: It’s KILL or BE KILLED.

(Flowey starts laughing and he throws a vine towards Dantz, Dantz throws a SOUL at Flowey, causing him to transform, a giant flash of light happens)

Younger Asriel: Chara, thank you.

Younger Dantz: I’m not Chara silly, I’m Dantz.

(Flashback to the present)

Dantz: And that’s how we met. I believe my kindest act was giving you that SOUL.

Asriel: It was.

Dantz: (Thinking) We’re getting close to Noelle’s, she said to bring a gift for a white elephant, me and Asriel already have our gifts. (Speaking) Hey Azzy, isn’t that Dooley behind us? I thought it would be a small crowd.

(Dantz reads the invitation closely at the bottom)

Dantz: (To himself, quietly) Knew it. (Speaking) Hey Dooley, stop following us and actually come over here.

Dooley: (monotone) I don’t care. Just mind your own business.

Dantz: (To Asriel) Yeesh, get a load of this guy.

(Asriel manages to get a chuckle)

Dantz: Hey look, we are at Noelle’s house. How did that happen.

(Asriel facepalms while managing a grin)

Dantz: (Thinking) I’m planning on pulling something here, if Berdly is here I gotta protect Noelle.

(Dantz knocks on the door)

Noelle: Coming!

(Noelle opens the door, Dantz and Asriel are the first guests)

Dantz: Hey Noelle.

Noelle: Hi Dantz, how are you doing?

Dantz: Nothing much.

(Dantz looks in the house)

Dantz: Is anyone in there?

Noelle: Nope. You guys are the first guests.

(Noelle moves to the side)

Dantz: So this is the mayor’s house. I thought it would be a mansion.

Noelle: We did think about that at one point.

Dantz: (Reads mind) But it would crash Hometown’s economy. Got it.

Noelle: (Grabbing Dantz by the collar) Here’s a friendly reminder. Use your telepathy then you’re out! Got it!?

Dantz: I won’t do it, on you. (Hugs Noelle)

(Noelle punches Dantz off of him)

Noelle: I wasn’t asking for a hug you perv!

(Dooley sees the entire situation unfold)

Dooley: (monotone) Your brother likes to touch.

Dantz: (Yelling) Shut up!

(Later when there is more people)

Football player 1: Our season was trash this year, would you agree Peters?

Peters: It was. (Sniffs) But don’t worry about it because we will win next year.

(Berdly opens the door and flies in Dantz sees this while Noelle opens the door out of her room)

Dantz: Noelle, I’d recommend you stay in your room. We got a bluebird in here.

Noelle: (Sighs) Really Dantz?

Dantz: He decided to invite himself here. He has no respect.

Noelle: Dantz, I get it.

(Noelle closes her bedroom door)

Dantz: Berdly. Why are you here? I kind of wonder why you invited yourself here. You know, I was trying to actually have a good party here.

Berdly: Hmph, so you’re gonna waste your time on me? Oh look, your voice of reason is immature.

Dantz: That’s enough Berdly-

(Dantz trips)

Dantz: (Muffled into the carpet) Ow.

(Asriel sees this)

Asriel: Oh my God Dantz! Are you okay?

(Dantz gets up)

Dantz: Azzy I’m fine, I slipped. Now let me get him!

(Asriel pulls Dantz back by his collar before he tries to attack Berdly)

Asriel: (Tears up) Dantz, please don’t attack Berdly. He’s my friend. And you’re my brother, and you could end up hurt if you attack him. So please, don’t.

Dantz: (After hearing Asriel’s message) Fine. I won’t attack him.

(Dantz walks into Noelle’s room, looking down, Noelle is looking at Dantz)

Noelle: What happened?

Dantz: I almost fought Berdly.

Noelle: What!? Dantz, I never thought you would do that.

(Dantz hops up on Noelle’s bed)

Dantz: I know. It’s just you won’t understand how MUCH I hate Berdly. Even more than you.

Noelle: Dantz, I don’t hate Berdly. I help him study.

Dantz: Wait, you do? Just like my mom helps me study, huh. You’ve all been thinking it, why do you think I hate Berdly.

Noelle: (To herself) I probably know why. (To Dantz) Go on.

Dantz: Well, I was always pretty successful, I barely failed. My lowest score was a 50% on a test, but I had a great comeback getting honor roll last minute. You know how I barely pay attention in class, that’s why my mom helps me. I also have great physique, being a great swimmer and an expert in weapons in Tae-Kwon-Do. I have one of the biggest resolves ever, always having great comebacks. It’s just anything comes naturally to me.

(Noelle nods)

Dantz: Now, here is the reason. We are VERY similar. And I mean it. If anything, I sometimes hide it. I just wonder why you like ME instead of him.

Noelle: It is because you want to make me a little more secure. You bring me back happy memories, especially of my father. It feels weird saying this, but I feel like my father’s back.

Dantz: Noelle, you think I am a lot like your dad. How?

Noelle: I can express my emotion to you, you don’t judge me for anything, you’re very kind and humourous.

Dantz: Kind? I don’t know if I’m kind. I feel superior to other people. If anything, I qualify as a misanthrope sometimes and have a select few people that I open up to.

Noelle: Dantz. (Breathes) It is true that in some ways you are better than the average, but you’re not going to be better than everybody.

Dantz: I recognize that at large, I mean, the worst sport I play is soccer. The best position I play is defense and you know how that goes. If you want to talk to the only person I know who could beat Messi or Ronaldo in a soccer match, it’s Asriel.

Asriel: Thanks Dantz.

Dantz: You’re welcome.

(The three walk out, Dantz gets some cake, unknowlingly it has grapefruit in it, the three go back to Noelle’s room, and two parents arrive in)

Mr. Cardinalis: Berdly!

Berdly: (Looks at his father) Yes.

Mr. Cardinalis: What are you doing at this party. What’s this?

(Mr. Cardinalis reaches for the invitation Berdly has)

Mr. Cardinalis: It’s fake. Berdly, this is your handwriting! You are grounded son. Do not sneak out!

(Mr. Cardinalis grabs Berdly by his collar)

Mr. Cardinalis: You should regret your decision young man.

(The door closes with force, cut to Noelle’s room)

Dantz: All right! This is gonna be delicous!

(Dantz takes a bite, an unfamiliar taste)

Dantz: This tastes funny. Noelle, what did you add? I feel like my tounge is swelling up.

Noelle: I added grapefruit.

(Dantz falls out of the chair, it tips over)

Asriel: Oh no!

Noelle: Dantz!

(Asriel rushes to Dantz along with Noelle, Noelle carries Dantz)

Dantz: I-I can’t breathe. (Trying to get air) I’m allergic to grapefruit. Asriel, get an epipen for me.

Asriel: But, I-

Dantz: Asriel… Just go.

(Asriel runs out, rummaging through the drawers and finds an epipen, he rushes upstairs and goes to Noelle’s room, where Dantz is lying unconsious in Noelle’s hands, Asriel is thinking the worst)

Asriel: Dantz no! (Drops epipen) Dantz, wake up!

(Asriel starts crying, Noelle picks up the epipen)

Noelle: Thank you.

(Noelle injects the epipen to Dantz’s leg, he gets up, blinking, rubbing his eyes)

Dantz: Thank God. I’m back!

(Asriel hugs Dantz, still crying)

Asriel: (Crying, voice breaking up) I thought you were going to die.
(Asriel cries a lot)

Dantz: Asriel, it’s okay bro. I have had anaphylaxis before. That’s how I figured out that it’s not a death sentence thanks to multiple epipens.

(The three laugh and go downstairs)

Dantz: I guess I’m not eating that again.

(Cut to the white elephant Dooley goes to the gift stack, he is first)

Dooley: (monotone) This looks cool.

(An inflataable snake pops out of the jar, everyone is scared, Dooley is unphased)

Dooley: (monotone) There’s a snake.

(A boy with a mischevious grin is laughing in the corner)

Dantz: Got him!

(Dantz keeps laughing, while the guests stare at Dantz)

Dantz: What?

(The guests start chasing Dantz)

Guest 1: Get back here Dantz!

Guest 2: Come on Dantz your prank scared me.

(Dantz grabs Susie’s arm and goes out the back door into the backyard)

Dantz: If they figured out you were the one who placed it there, we would have been in trouble.

Susie: Yeah Dantz, you got them good.

(A scene shows a hannukiah with pink light in the middle and on the far left a pink light lights up)
