A Snowy Serendipity

Summary:

Jimin and Yoongi have been tiptoeing around their feelings for months, completely unaware of how painfully obvious they are to everyone else.

Will it take a slip on the season’s first snow—and a loudmouthed menace—to finally push them into each other’s arms?

Notes:

Hiii thank you so much to the prompter and the mods for giving me the chance to write this absolutely crack fic.

Work Text:

“Hyuuungggg,” an angelic voice whined in his ear. Yoongi closed his eyes, inhaling deeply before turning to look at the warm brown eyes of his love—though he hadn’t confessed that yet. He liked to keep that little secret tucked away, close to his heart.

“I’m telling you,” Jimin whined, his pretty pink lips pouting, puppy eyes staring at Yoongi and at that point, Yoongi was ready to believe whatever came out of Jimin’s mouth. “Soulmates are real. And I’ll meet mine during the first snow of the season.”

Well, anything but that.

“Jimin-ah,” Yoongi’s tongue caressed the name as lovingly as he wished his hands could. Fondness along with a tinge of exasperation marred his tone. “You’ve been saying that ever since I met you, and it hasn’t turned out to be true yet. Why do you keep believing it?”

Jimin's pout only deepened as he crossed his arms, feigning indignation. “Because, Hyung! What if it happens this year? What if the universe is just waiting for the perfect moment to bring us together?” His eyes sparkled with a mix of excitement and sincerity. “I can’t just give up on something like that!”

Yoongi just shook his head in amusement. Trust Jimin to find the weirdest of logic. They were seated at their usual table in the café they’d all claimed as their post-college hangout, each person absorbed in their own bubbles of conversations that mingled together like background music. Around them, Jin and Taehyung were animatedly talking about the latest video game, while Hobi, Namjoon, and Jungkook dove into a debate on photography styles. It was chaotic like it always was, yet Yoongi wouldn’t trade a single second of it.

This was family. Loud, messy, and completely his.

Yoongi stared at Jimin as he started a conversation with Taehyung, something about the latest forecast for the first snowfall.

“Careful, hyung,” Hobi’s voice chimed in, soft but amused, as he pushed his chair next to Yoongi and nudged him gently. “Your crush is showing.”

Yoongi scowled, tearing his gaze from Jimin and crossing his arms defensively. “Shut up,” he muttered, trying to hide the warmth creeping up his neck. “It’s not a crush.”

Hobi raised an eyebrow, grinning wider. “Oh? So you’re just watching him like he’s a full moon rising because…what? Your sense of ‘friendship’ is astronomical?”

Rolling his eyes, Yoongi picked up his coffee cup, trying to act unfazed. “I just like listening to him go on about his silly soulmate theory. Makes life more…interesting.”

“Mhm,” Hobi hummed, unconvinced. “Or maybe you just like him.”

Yoongi glared, ready with a snappy comeback, when Jimin’s laughter rang out across the table, instantly pulling his attention back. Jimin tossed his head back, blonde hair swishing as his eyes sparkled with a warmth that lit up the whole room, entirely wrapped up in his conversation with Taehyung. And for Yoongi, everything around him blurred—like all the chatter, the clinking cups, the laughter—faded into the background.

At that moment, it was only Jimin, shining brighter than he had any right to. The chaos became a quiet hum, a distant murmur as Yoongi sat there, helplessly caught up in everything that was Jimin, his heart tightening with something he’d never admit out loud.

“See?” Hobi whispered, leaning in with a knowing smirk. “Goner.”

“Shut up,” Yoongi grumbled, but the way his gaze softened said more than he’d ever admit. He turned his head away from Hobi’s annoying face, trying to focus on the scenery, but like a river flowing to the sea, his eyes returned to Jimin.

Then their food arrived and conversation quietened as everyone turned their attention to their plates. Yoongi was mid-conversation with Namjoon—fork poised—when he heard the faint clatter of Jimin’s fork hitting the floor.

“So, hyung, you’re really sticking with that concept for the album?” Namjoon asked, brow raised, genuinely curious.

Yoongi nodded, eyes flicking to Namjoon. “Yeah, there’s something clean about letting the music speak without too many layers. Keeps it honest,” he murmured, his hand slipping over to the edge of the table just as Jimin ducked down to grab his fallen fork.

“That’s true,” Namjoon replied, nodding thoughtfully. “But I feel like people might expect more… you know, depth. Like the layers you had in your last album.”

Yoongi’s fingers absentmindedly covered the table’s corner, protecting Jimin’s head as he straightened back up. Yoongi’s hand returned to his lap as smoothly as if nothing had happened, and he shrugged, returning Namjoon’s focused gaze.

“Sometimes things have to change,” Yoongi muttered, picking up his chopsticks and returning to his meal. He hoped that would be the end of it but the momentary peace didn’t last.

“Hyung, don’t forget we’re supposed to write music for this bunch,” Hobi said, gesturing at the others around the table with a playful smirk.

“Yes, I remember,” Yoongi sighed, his appetite waning as the memory of their last meeting with the CEO and creative director surfaced.

The assignment seemed simple enough on the surface: Namjoon, Hobi, and Yoongi had been tasked with composing songs for the company’s star solo artists—Kim Seokjin, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook. But this wasn’t just work; these weren’t strangers or faceless clients. These were his friends.

They had all met back in college, though their paths had diverged long before graduation. Despite their different majors—Seokjin in acting, Hobi in dance, Namjoon and Yoongi in music production, Jimin and Jungkook in vocal performance, and Taehyung in art—they had clicked almost instantly. Over the years, their bond had only strengthened.

Now, years later, they’d all landed in the same company. Namjoon, Hobi, and Yoongi had become producers, while the others shone as solo artists. Normally, the producers worked together on their songs, but this time, they’d been assigned individual pairings.

And Yoongi, to his simultaneous relief and dread, had been paired with Jimin.

It wasn’t the task itself that threw him—it was Jimin. How was he supposed to capture someone like him in a song? Jimin was larger than life, radiant, and yet so intricately layered that everything Yoongi wrote felt insignificant in comparison. He didn’t just light up a room; he changed its atmosphere entirely.

Every note Yoongi composed seemed to fall short.

How could he write about someone he couldn’t even begin to define?

He couldn’t help but notice how Jimin interacted with everyone around him. His smile, his laugh, the way he piled more food onto Jungkook’s plate because he was looking a little too thin, the way he took off his scarf to wrap it around Taehyung when he was shivering, the way he casually grabbed a napkin and wiped Yoongi’s face—wait, what?

Wipe? His face?

Yoongi blinked, snapping out of his thoughts, but by the time he registered what had happened, Jimin had already wiped his face and turned away, completely unbothered. Yoongi stared, and for a split second, it felt like the universe had just hit pause.

That wouldn’t do.

“Park Jimin!” Yoongi sputtered, scooting back on his chair.

Jimin blinked at him, completely clueless. “What?”

“What was that for?” Yoongi demanded, still caught off guard.

Jimin shrugged innocently. “You had food on your face.”

Yoongi shook his head, his brain still trying to catch up with the situation. “You—you look like a calico cat.”

Jimin’s eyes narrowed playfully. “Is that supposed to be an insult?”

Yoongi opened his mouth to retort, but all that came out was a half-hearted cough, realizing he might’ve just set himself up for more teasing.

Jimin’s lips curled into a mischievous grin, his eyes twinkling with playful challenge. “It’s a pretty cute insult if you ask me.”

Yoongi rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at the corner of his lips. Of course, Jimin would turn it around on him like that.

Before Yoongi could respond, Jimin leaned in, his face a little too close for comfort. “I’m just trying to help, hyung. You’re so messy sometimes.”

Yoongi blinked, his heart racing a little. “I am not messy!” he protested, though his voice was less convincing than he’d like.

Jimin only raised an eyebrow, the teasing still lingering in his tone. “You totally are. But don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.”

Yoongi snorted, trying to play it off. “Yeah, sure. Like a personal maid service, huh?”

Jimin smirked, nodding with mock seriousness. “Exactly. You’re welcome.”

Yoongi could feel the warmth creeping up his neck, his mind spinning in circles as Jimin went back to eating like nothing had happened. But in that brief exchange, Yoongi was reminded of just how much Jimin had a way of slipping under his skin without even trying.

Maybe he could write a song about that.

~~~
The Genius Lab was serene as always, the soft hum of equipment filling the otherwise quiet space. Yoongi was deep in his thoughts, sitting before his computer as he tried to piece together the perfect words for Jimin’s song. But no matter how many lines he wrote, something always felt off. The lyrics weren't capturing the right emotion, the right energy.
After staring at the screen for what felt like forever, Yoongi leaned back in his chair, rubbing a hand over his face. This wasn’t coming together the way he wanted. Maybe Jimin’s opinion would help.
Yoongi pulled out his phone and typed a quick message to Jimin.
Hey, come by the studio. I’ve got the lyrics down. Need your input, whether you like them or not
A few seconds passed before the reply came.
On my way, genius. Be there in 10
Yoongi smiled softly. It was strange how Jimin could make Yoongi feel infinitely better than anything else could.
True to his word, Jimin showed up ten minutes later, walking into the lab with his usual energy and that playful grin on his face. “Did you miss me, hyung?” he teased, holding up a to-go cup of coffee from Yoongi’s favourite place.
Yoongi snorted, shaking his head. “You wish. Just sit down. Let me show you what I’ve got.”
Jimin put down the cup on the desk with a dramatic flair and took a seat, his eyes scanning the room before landing on Yoongi’s screen.
Yoongi brought up the lyrics he had written, the words still feeling incomplete to him. “So, I’ve got the lyrics, but I don’t know… I’m not sure they match the vibe of the track. What do you think?”
Jimin leaned in, his eyes narrowing slightly as he read over the words. The silence stretched between them for a few moments as Jimin processed. Finally, he looked up, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
“It’s good,” Jimin said, his voice thoughtful. “But it feels... a little distant. Like it’s trying too hard to capture something that’s already there. ”
Yoongi nodded, though he wasn’t sure if he agreed. “What do you mean?”
Jimin paused for a moment, then leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the armrest. “You’re trying to write about me, right? About the way I am…. but you’re not... feeling it enough. I don’t want something that’s just pretty words, hyung. I want something real.”
Yoongi stared at him for a beat, absorbing the words. Jimin always had a way of cutting through the noise, didn’t he? He could make Yoongi realize things he didn’t even know he was thinking.
“I see,” Yoongi said quietly, the wheels turning in his mind. “So... how do I make it more real?”
Jimin smiled, his expression softening. “You know me better than anyone, hyung. Just write from there. From what you really know. Don’t hold back.”
Yoongi’s heart skipped a beat at the intensity of Jimin’s voice. He didn’t realize how much the simple idea of really writing from the heart had gotten lost in the technicalities of music production.
Before he could respond, his phone buzzed on the desk, cutting through the moment. He glanced down, seeing a message from Hobi.
Hyung drinks later @ same place?
Yoongi raised an eyebrow at Jimin, who was already getting to his feet.
“You in for drinks?” Yoongi asked, trying to shake off the sudden rush of warmth that had crept up his neck.
Jimin grinned, his eyes lighting up. “Yeah, sounds perfect. We could all use a break.”
“Cool. It’s close, so we can just walk there,” Yoongi said, already standing and grabbing his jacket.
Jimin nodded, slight excitement visible in his eyes. “Let’s go, hyung. You’ve earned it.”
Yoongi smiled, shaking his head a little at how easy it was to fall into rhythm with Jimin. He stood up, moving toward the door, with Jimin right behind him. As they stepped outside, the evening air greeted them, crisp and cool, carrying with it the muted hum of the city at night. The streets were unusually quiet, the faint glow of streetlights reflecting off the damp pavement. Yoongi shoved his hands into his jacket pockets, enjoying the rare moment of peace after a long day of work. They walked in comfortable silence for a few blocks, until Jimin suddenly stopped and looked up, his eyes widening in surprise.
“Wait,” Jimin said, glancing at the sky. “Is that snow?”
Yoongi blinked, looking up as well. Flurries of snow were drifting down, soft and light. “It was supposed to start tomorrow, not today,” Yoongi commented, surprised.
Jimin grinned, his eyes lighting up. “It’s beautiful,” he whispered, almost to himself, as he lifted a hand to catch the snowflakes, his breath visible in the cold night air. He was completely entranced, looking up at the sky like it was some sort of wonderland. For a moment, Yoongi found himself just watching him, the way the snow seemed to enhance Jimin’s energy, making him seem even more alive, more… real .
But then, in the blink of an eye, Jimin’s foot caught an icy patch on the sidewalk. Yoongi’s heart stopped for a second as he watched Jimin stumble, about to fall. Without thinking, he reached out, wrapping his arms around Jimin’s waist and pulling him into his chest.
The world seemed to pause for a moment, Yoongi’s arms holding Jimin firmly, their bodies close. Jimin’s breath hitched in surprise, and for a few seconds, neither of them moved. Yoongi’s heart raced a little faster, his mind short-circuiting as he realized how right this felt.
Jimin’s face flushed, and he quickly pulled away, stepping back just enough to break the contact. He looked up at Yoongi with wide eyes, a faint pink color staining his cheeks. His usual charm seemed to be replaced with a sheepish silence.
Yoongi cleared his throat, trying to cover up the sudden weirdness in the air. “Careful, it’s icy,” he muttered, trying to keep his tone light, but his voice came out softer than intended. He couldn’t help but smile a little at Jimin’s reaction, even though he didn’t fully understand it.
Jimin, still looking a little flustered, nodded quietly, his gaze avoiding Yoongi’s. He didn’t say anything as he turned around and continued walking, the snow now falling heavier around them. Yoongi couldn’t help but glance at him out of the corner of his eye. Jimin was quieter, his usual energy gone, and it made Yoongi feel... strangely protective? He couldn’t quite place the feeling, but he found him more endearing.
After a while, Yoongi glanced at Jimin again, noticing how his gaze was fixed on the falling snowflakes, his lips pressed tightly together. The walk felt longer this time, the silence heavier. Yoongi kept stealing glances at Jimin, who was still oddly quiet, his smile a little smaller now, and it confused Yoongi. What had changed in those few seconds?
"Are you okay?" Yoongi asked, his voice uncharacteristically soft.
Jimin nodded, his eyes still focused on the snow. “Yeah, just... I love snow. Makes me feel like I’m in a movie.”
Yoongi’s lips curled into a smile at Jimin’s words. He didn’t know why, but the thought of Jimin, lost in his own little world, made something warm unfurl in his chest. He wanted to say more, maybe tease him, but for some reason, the silence felt right.
As they walked, the snow continued to fall softly around them, the world outside muffled by the gentle flurry. Jimin glanced over at Yoongi again, that same shy smile curling on his lips, and for a brief moment, Yoongi felt his heart skip a beat. It was strange how something as simple as that smile made everything inside him feel... warmer. He quickly looked away, unsure of what that feeling was, but before he could dwell on it any longer, they arrived at the restaurant.
The moment they stepped inside, the noise hit them—laughter, chatter, and the sound of clinking glasses. Their friends were already there, gathered around a large table in the back. As soon as Jimin walked in, his mood instantly brightened, his usual energy returning like a switch had been flipped. He waved enthusiastically at the group, his eyes sparkling as he made his way over.
"Hyung, you guys made it!" Taehyung called out from his seat, flashing a wide grin.
Jimin slid into a seat next to Taehyung, and Yoongi followed, feeling the normal, comfortable energy of their group settle around him. Everything was back to normal, but there was still a lingering warmth from the quiet moment with Jimin that Yoongi couldn’t shake.
“Yeah yeah,” Jimin said casually, his tone as light as ever, “Yoongi hyung caught me when I slipped on the ice. I almost went down face-first.”
There was a beat of silence before a few of them glanced at Yoongi, who was already turning an interesting shade of red. Hobi, never one to let an opportunity pass, immediately raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at his lips.
“Really now?” Hobi teased, his voice dropping into a playful tone. “Hyung caught Jimin?” he asked with a devious smirk.
Yoongi let out an awkward cough, trying to brush it off. “It was nothing,” he muttered, clearly flustered.
However, Hobi wasn't letting it go. He leaned in, eyes twinkling with mischief. “I’ve known you for how many years, hyung? And you’re all of a sudden Mr. Hero?”
The teasing only grew louder as the rest of the group laughed. Yoongi could feel his face heating up more by the second, his usual confident demeanor slipping for a moment. He could hear the laughter, but all he could focus on was the way Jimin had casually told the story, his tone so nonchalant. It made the whole thing feel... so simple. And yet, Yoongi was still rattled by it.
“It's not a big deal,” Yoongi muttered, but he could tell by the teasing glances from everyone, they weren't buying it.
Jimin shot him a grin, obviously enjoying the moment. “No need to be so embarrassed, hyung,” he said, though his smile was a little softer this time, as if he had picked up on Yoongi’s discomfort.
Hobi, always quick to keep the teasing going, nudged Namjoon with a mock-offended pout. “You know, Joon, you never caught me when I slipped that one winter. Some soulmate you are.”
“Caught you? I watched you fall and then tripped over your legs right after. Don’t rewrite history.” Namjoon retorted, leaning back in his chair with a smirk.
The table erupted in laughter, loud and genuine, the kind that made it impossible to stay serious. Even Yoongi found himself chuckling, the lingering tension in his chest easing as the atmosphere softened into something familiar.
“Oh, poor you, Hobah,” Jin teased, raising his glass in mock sympathy. “Always the tragedy, never the triumph.”
“No one’s ever there for me!” Hobi groaned dramatically, tossing his head back for added effect. “Soulmates, my ass.”
Taehyung leaned closer to Jimin, his voice dropping just enough for only Jimin to hear. “Speaking of soulmates... that thing with you and Yoongi hyung earlier? Real ‘meant to be’ energy, you know.”
Jimin stiffened slightly, the memory of Yoongi’s arms steadying him flashing through his mind. He let out a nervous laugh, brushing it off with a light shove to Taehyung’s shoulder. “You’re ridiculous, Tae.”
“You heard him, though, right?” Taehyung pressed, now grinning.
Before Jimin could reply, Hobi interjected, pointing his glass at them. “What secret are you two scheming about over there?”
“Nothing,” Jimin said quickly, waving his hand in dismissal, his cheeks warming as Yoongi glanced at him, brow quirked.
“Yeah, nothing,” Taehyung added, though the mischievous glint in his eyes betrayed him. “Just something about snow, slipping, and how some people make perfect catches.”
Jimin let out an exaggerated groan, hiding his face in his hands. “Can we not?”
The table burst into laughter again, and Yoongi shook his head, though a faint smile tugged at his lips. “Let’s just enjoy the drinks,” he said, trying to steer the conversation away from the teasing, but his voice came out a little softer than he intended.
~~~

Park Jimin never intended to have a crush on Min Yoongi.

However, as the night progressed, Jimin found himself falling faster and harder for the man who had saved him from face-planting on the street a few hours prior. The night had carried on, laughter echoing around their table, but Jimin found himself a little distracted. He tried to focus on the conversations, on the jokes, on the chatter about their next project, but his mind kept drifting back to Yoongi.

There was something about him tonight—something he couldn’t quite pinpoint. It wasn't the teasing that had Jimin flustered earlier or even the casual way he’d played along with the group. No, it was the quiet moments that had Jimin thinking.

He watched Yoongi, noticing how he laughed quietly, the way his eyes softened when he looked at the others, and how he always kept a careful balance of being involved but not overwhelming. Jimin had always known Yoongi to be reserved, but tonight, something felt different—more present, more attuned to everyone around him.

It was then that Jimin’s mind drifted to other memories, small moments, insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but now they seemed to stand out.

There was a time when they were back in college, and Jimin had been running late for an exam. Yoongi had quietly handed him his coat with a small nod, as though to say “You’ll need this,” without a single word. Jimin had been so caught up in his own stress that he hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but looking back, Yoongi had always been there, without making a fuss about it. He just... took care of things.

Then there was the time in their studio when Jimin had been struggling to hit a high note for hours. He’d wanted to give up, frustrated and exhausted, but Yoongi had silently placed a bottle of water in front of him and then walked away. No words, just understanding. Jimin had taken a sip and pushed through. He hadn’t realized it back then, but Yoongi’s quiet support had always been a grounding force.

Jimin bit his lip, looking down at his drink. Was it just his imagination, or had Yoongi always done these little things? These small, quiet gestures, and the way he paid attention when others weren’t looking.

Jimin could feel his chest tighten with a mix of warmth and confusion. Why had he never noticed before? The thought lingered in his mind like a whisper he didn’t quite want to acknowledge. His eyes flickered back to Yoongi, who was now talking to Taehyung, but something about his presence tonight felt more... comforting. His usual aloofness was softened, in a way, and Jimin couldn’t deny that it made his heart flutter a little.

The night was winding down. People were starting to trickle out, chatting about their plans for the weekend and their upcoming schedules, but Jimin’s thoughts had drifted somewhere else entirely. He couldn’t help but notice how Yoongi’s laugh now seemed warmer, how his smile lingered just a little longer when Jimin caught his eye. It was subtle, but it was there. Jimin felt his heart race, the realization hitting him like a sudden gust of wind.

Could he—could he actually have a crush on Min Yoongi?

The question swirled in his mind, too big to ignore but too frightening to voice. He wasn’t sure when it had happened, but somewhere along the way, the simple camaraderie they shared had grown into something more. Something that made his chest tighten when Yoongi wasn’t looking, something that made him want to reach out and tell him all the things he’d kept quiet about.

“Yoongi,” Jimin said, almost as if testing the name on his tongue, feeling the warmth that came with it. The way Yoongi turned to him, the faint smile on his lips, made Jimin's heart flip again. Was it possible? Could this be the start of something more, something he had never expected?

But Jimin wasn’t sure. He hadn’t even realized how close he’d gotten to Yoongi in the first place. All he knew now was that, in this quiet moment, surrounded by laughter and familiar faces, something had changed, and it made his pulse race in a way he hadn’t felt in a long time.

As the last of their group stood up, ready to leave, Jimin lingered for a moment, catching Yoongi’s eye across the table. He didn’t know what to do with the feelings swelling in his chest, but one thing was certain—he couldn’t ignore them anymore.

So here he was, knocking on Taehyung’s door bright and early the next morning. The rhythm of his knuckles against wood was familiar, yet his heart raced with the anticipation about what he was about to say. Taehyung and Jungkook still lived together, their apartment a bit of a shrine to their college days, with photos and old memorabilia scattered about the space. Jimin had always felt at home here, but today, the thought of seeing all those old memories made him feel oddly nervous.

Taehyung opened the door, his hair slightly mussed from sleep and blinked at the sight of Jimin standing there so early. “Morning, Jiminie,” he greeted, stepping aside to let him in. “What’s up? Everything okay?”

Jimin hesitated at the doorway, fidgeting with the hem of his hoodie. His cheeks were already pink, and he couldn’t seem to meet Taehyung’s eyes. Finally, with a deep breath, he blurted out, “I think I like Yoongi hyung.” The words tumbled out so quickly that they almost collided. “Like, really like him. Not just as a friend.”

The moment the confession left his lips, Jimin froze, his wide eyes darting up to meet Taehyung’s briefly before darting away again. His face turned a deeper shade of red, and he shifted his weight from foot to foot, clearly contemplating an immediate exit strategy.

Taehyung, still half-asleep and processing, opened his mouth to respond, but Jimin didn’t give him the chance. “I’m—uh—okay, bye!” he stammered, already backing toward the door. “Forget I said anything!”

Before Taehyung could say a word, Jimin spun around and bolted down the hallway, leaving Taehyung standing in the doorway, staring after him in stunned silence.

“Did he just...?” Taehyung muttered, rubbing his temple in confusion.

“What’s all the noise about?” came Hoseok’s voice from behind him, groggy but curious. He shuffled into the living room, squinting as he took in the scene.

Taehyung turned, still looking baffled. “Jimin just showed up, said he likes Yoongi hyung, then ran off before I could even respond.”

Hoseok’s eyes widened for half a second before a slow grin spread across his face. “He finally admitted it?” he asked, his tone practically gleeful.

Taehyung nodded, still dazed. “I guess? I mean, he didn’t really stick around for feedback.”

Hoseok clapped his hands together, fully awake now. “This is perfect . Time to call in reinforcements.”

“Reinforcements for what?” Taehyung asked warily.

Hoseok grinned, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Operation: Get Those Two Idiots to Stop Pining and Start Dating.”

Taehyung groaned but couldn’t help smiling a little. “This is going to be chaos, isn’t it?”

“Absolutely,” Hoseok replied, already pulling out his phone. “But it’s going to be fun chaos.”

Taehyung shook his head with a small chuckle. “You’re incorrigible.”

Hobi winked. “Yep, and proud of it.”

The days that followed were a whirlwind of subtle nudges, sideways glances, and overly dramatic attempts at matchmaking. Hoseok had roped in Jin, Namjoon, and Jungkook—though Jungkook mostly served as moral support (and a constant source of comic relief)—to help execute what was quickly turning into the most chaotic plan in existence.

The goal? To make Jimin and Yoongi finally realize they were hopelessly, ridiculously in love with each other.

The execution? An absolute disaster.

Jin had tried the casual approach, dropping hints like he was planting wildflowers. Over dinner one night, he’d gone on a tangent about soulmates, weaving an anecdote that somehow landed with, “You know, Yoongi and Jimin would make a great match.”

Yoongi had looked at him like he’d grown a second head. “Are you drunk?” he asked bluntly, while Jimin turned beet red and fumbled with his chopsticks. The subject was promptly changed, leaving Jin to silently curse the universe for giving him friends with the emotional range of a brick.

Namjoon, on the other hand, had gone straight for the feels. During one of their usual song discussion hangouts, he’d turned to Yoongi with a knowing grin. “Don’t you think Jimin’s smile is like a ray of sunshine? Wouldn’t it be nice to see it more often?”

Yoongi had shrugged, muttering, “Sure, I guess,” while staring at his phone like he hadn’t heard a word. Meanwhile, Jimin choked on his drink and had to excuse himself, leaving Namjoon throwing an exasperated look at Hoseok.

Hoseok, ever the optimist, refused to give up. He enlisted Taehyung and Jungkook for backup, though Jungkook seemed to only half-understand the mission. Still, his innocent charm and penchant for saying too much made him a valuable wild card.

And so, here they were, gathered at their usual hangout—a cozy diner they frequented on weekends. Taehyung, always good at reading a room, had strategically seated himself across from Jimin, while Yoongi sat on the opposite end of the table. Jungkook, ever the opportunist, slid into the seat beside Yoongi, his face suspiciously blank except for the faintest trace of a smirk.

The meal started like any other—easy chatter, teasing banter, and an occasional bad pun courtesy of Jin. However, there was a tension in the air, subtle but impossible to miss.

Yoongi had been unusually quiet, picking at his food and staring off into the distance, while Jimin kept sneaking glances at him, only to look away the second their eyes met. Hoseok, seated between Namjoon and Jin, looked ready to explode from frustration.

And then there was Jeon Jungkook.

“Yoongi hyung,” Jungkook began suddenly, his tone deceptively casual. “Jimin hyung was whining the other day about how he loves your fingers and wants them up his ass.”

The table froze.

Jin’s fork clattered against his plate, Hoseok nearly spit out his drink, and Jin and Namjoon slapped a hand over their face in sync, groaning audibly. Taehyung looked bewildered, his brows furrowing in confusion as he tried to piece together what Jungkook had just said.

But it was Jimin who reacted most dramatically. His face went scarlet, his eyes wide as saucers, and his hands gripped the edge of the table so tightly his knuckles turned white.

“JEON JUNGKOOK!” Jimin screeched, his voice a mix of panic and mortification. “SHUT YOUR MOUTH, OR I SWEAR—”

Jungkook blinked innocently, tilting his head. “What? I’m just saying what you said.”

Jimin’s jaw dropped, and he looked ready to launch himself across the table when Yoongi, who had been silent up until now, suddenly spoke.

“Jungkook,” he said, his voice calm but carrying an edge. “If you want to keep your vocal cords intact, you might want to stop talking.”

Jungkook’s smirk faltered, but only slightly. “Noted, hyung.”

“Jungkook—” Jimin gasped, burying his flaming face in his hands. “You can’t just—say things like that!”

But Jungkook, the devious little thing that he was, shrugged as if his comment were the most normal thing in the world. “Why not? You’re both so obvious. Everyone else sees it. Just admit it already.”

The group, still reeling from the shock, erupted into varying degrees of suppressed laughter. Hobi was half-hiding behind Jin, his shoulders shaking with silent giggles. Jin himself was practically in tears, wiping his eyes as Namjoon muttered, "I can't believe this is happening."

Yoongi, however, looked like he might combust. “Jungkook,” he said through gritted teeth, his voice trembling with barely contained exasperation, “you’re never getting another song out of me. Ever.”

“Yeah, yeah, hyung. Keep pretending you don’t care,” Jungkook retorted, completely unfazed. His wide-eyed innocence was maddening. “Jimin hyung, just tell him. You’d be doing all of us a favor.”

Jimin sank lower in his chair, his cheeks glowing brighter than the neon sign outside. “This is ridiculous,” he mumbled, wishing he could sink through the floor.

And then, as if Jungkook hadn’t done enough damage, he dropped the final bomb. “Oh, and Yoongi hyung, didn’t you say his ass was for the billboards?”

Jimin froze mid-cringe. He wasn’t even breathing. “JUNGKOOK!” he screeched, loud enough to make the nearby tables turn their heads.

Yoongi, on the other hand, slammed a hand onto the table. “I NEVER SAID THAT!”

The table dissolved into chaos. Jin was howling with laughter, practically doubled over in his seat, while Namjoon had his head in his hands, muttering something about second-hand embarrassment. Taehyung joined in, his deep baritone adding to the uproar. Hobi was the only one desperately gasping, “Oh my god, Kook, you’re killing me,” as tears streamed down his face.

Jungkook crossed his arms, looking unimpressed with the entire display. “I’m just saying what everyone’s been thinking. Honestly, hyungs, you’re making this way harder than it needs to be.”

Yoongi and Jimin exchanged a glance across the table, both red-faced and wide-eyed. Something unspoken passed between them—something that couldn’t be ignored anymore.

“You know,” Yoongi said finally, his voice quieter but no less sharp, “he might actually have a point.”

Jimin blinked, startled. “He does?”

“Yeah.” Yoongi huffed, running a hand through his hair. “I mean, I didn’t say the thing about your ass, but—”

“ Hyung! ” Jimin’s protest was half laugh, half mortification.

Yoongi rolled his eyes but smiled—soft, small, and real. “Fine. Maybe I’ve been an idiot. Maybe we’ve both been idiots.”

Jimin’s lips twitched, the corner quirking up despite himself. “So... what now?”

Yoongi glanced at Jungkook, who was watching them with a victorious grin, then back at Jimin. His voice softened. “Maybe we stop pretending.”

It was that simple. The weight they’d both been carrying suddenly felt lighter, their usual tension replaced by something warmer, something mutual .

“Are you two finally done?” Hobi asked, leaning forward eagerly, wiping the tears from his eyes. “Because, honestly, it’s been exhausting just watching you both.”

Jimin laughed, a sound that made Yoongi’s chest tighten in the best way. “Yeah, I think we’re done.”

“Good,” Taehyung chimed in, lifting his glass. “Can we get back to eating now? I’m starving.”

Laughter rippled through the group as the conversation eased back into its usual rhythm. Amid the chatter, Yoongi reached across the table, brushing his fingers against Jimin’s. It was subtle, a quiet reassurance, but Jimin’s heart raced all the same. He laced their fingers together, his grip firm and steady, as if to say, I’m here.

For the first time in months, things felt... right. There was no grand declaration, no over-the-top confession, just two people finally letting go of their fears and stepping into something new.

“Hyung,” Jungkook said suddenly, his grin turning sheepish. “About the billboard comment—”

“Don’t,” Yoongi warned, though his glare lacked any real heat. “Just... don’t.”

Jimin snickered, squeezing Yoongi’s hand under the table. Maybe Jungkook was an absolute menace, but he had been their menace tonight.

And for that, Jimin was quietly, grudgingly grateful.
