aka I had an idea that I need to stick down somewhere so here we are (the inside is better if you have seen my other fics you know this)

Notes:

What is this? Couldn't fully tell you yet other than its me spitballing a concept from within my head. Could be a full blown story, or it could be a collection of intertwining drabbles, who knows. Likely might be the first one but we'll see. I read an adult Scooby Doo book and I was like wow, what a great concept, and here we are.

Also because this week is going to be stressful as fuck and I wanted something that gave me a small laugh given that other chunk of dialogue has been stuck in my head for days.

Obviously, swearing, because fuck can make a sentence so much better.

Chapter 1: Jailhouse Blues

Chapter Text

To be fair, it was a good plan. Great plan even. All that had to be done was just following directions a, b, c in that specific order and it would be a done deal. Granted, maybe the potential for a hiccup here and there, but to be fair if there wasn’t a hiccup then it was too good.

The kid was step one, mostly by complete accident. Afterall, he was now in debt to her post trying to break into her house and ruining a window. How long that debt was going to last—-well that was undecided. Next was actually gathering the rest because while committing fraud was rather simplistic as long as you knew how to be convincing, this was just slightly bigger.

It is not everyday you get the opportunity to rob a rather old-fashion, exquisite manor of a rumored vampire. If the rumors were true, it would be even better, because they were absolutely beyond interesting and it meant a new location to add to the list of bizarre. Overall, however, that aspect was up in the air. There was already plenty of weirdness she had encountered, to the point it was tempting to keep a catalogue of experience for the ‘in case of emergencies’ style notebook. False, a bit disappointed but expected given how easily word of mouth flows.

Besides, the perfect aspect was the end result could be split five ways with ease. Originally fifty, fifteen, fifteen, fifteen, and five. Some people weren’t fond of that, and post-bickering resulted in the final being thirty-five, twenty, twenty, twenty, and five.

Lilia was the one that happened to know everyone, hearing tidbits everywhere. Which meant knowing the perfect time to be able to strike. Jen was the distraction, just to fully ensure the coast stayed completely clear. Alice was the locksmith, which Agatha had found was originally useless until it wasn’t. Agatha herself, well she got the task of being able to quickly distinguish the reals from the fakes once actually within, with the kid being a mock assistant.

Again, everything would have absolutely gone to plan. Except for the thinnest trip wire, that caused the most destructive of butterfly effects. Giving a signal that police were there when it was too late to actually be able to slip out of sight.

Such rude interruptions of barks of commands and directions.

“Freeze!” “Hands up!”

A deep exhale, despite the fact mentally she was infuriated because how did she get caught? She never got caught—alright the time in Ohio was a mishap but after all it was Ohio. Slowly, she spun on her heel to face the new audience, giving mental word to any other being listening that the kid would keep his mouth shut. Clearly he was not one to think abruptly on the fly, or was just intimated by the taser aimed at them both, the wide eyes were the dead giveaway.

“Listen listen, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for all of this if you give me just five minutes.” the attempted persuasion, hands in the air in an effort to show innocence.

“It’s exactly what it looks like–we’re sorry!” the kid blurted out in a panic, receiving a look that could kill from multiple angles.

Two hours, scolding from four different people, and a list of read rights later, the collective were isolated together in a holding cell.

“Remind me how I’ve managed to get stuck in a cell, with you of all people.” Jen commented, casting a pointed look towards Agatha, who gave a shrug.

“I didn’t make you come with me. If I recall correctly you came by free will, I would’ve been perfectly fine without your presence.” the quick retort, gaining an eye roll in return.

“How long exactly are we supposed to be here for?” the youngest interjected between the banter, receiving all eyes on him instead.

“Overnight, usually is how it goes. Sometimes more, rarely less.” Alice hummed, arms folding across her chest.

“We wouldn’t be here in the first place if you did as you were told.” Agatha answered swiftly, combined with a pointed look that caused him to look the smallest bit sheepish.

“He couldn’t have known better, except now he knows moving forward to have the adults be the ones talking.” Lilia half-defended, causing Agatha to tossed her hands in the air in frustration.

“Known better? What better could have been known when everything was already laid out!? Not even including that this is the biggest rag tag collective in existence. We have one who somehow is as skilled a con as me, one who I have avidly avoided yet here we are, inspector gadget junior over there, and the damn kid. What else could possibly go wrong?”

“Were you done with your little tantrum, because I could just leave you all here if you wanted. Choice is yours, really.” a new voice chimed into the conversation, pointedly from the other side of the bars. Keys jingled as they spun around.

“And there it is, cherry on top—thank you fucking universe.”
