Gem tilted her head, her smile teasing. “You’re a favourite at Babette's, you know.”
Sevika blinked, genuinely caught off guard. “Me?”
“Surely you must’ve noticed,” Gem said, laughing lightly. “The way everyone scrambles for your attention the second you walk through the door?”
Sevika shrugged, feigning nonchalance. “Figured I was just a good tipper.”
Gem laughed again, the sound light and warm. “You’re more than that. You treat us like people, Sevika. That’s not as common as you’d think.”
Sevika huffed, her expression softening. “Didn’t realise the bar was that low.”
Gem leaned in, her tone turning sly. “It is, but you’re also really good at keeping the staff happy.”
Sevika’s lips curled into a knowing smirk. “No point doing something if you’re not gonna do it well.”
