Can't Do It

Summary:

Prowl wants a new piercing, but his piercer is not on board.

Notes:

This was written for 3 Sentence Ficathon (prompt: any/any/piercing) but is part of a larger story where a young Prowl is a junior ambassador to Vos, makes friends with a quirky noblemech, and gets dragging willingly into the world of body modification and decoration.

Work Text:

“Nah, I can’t put another one there. Not with your sensor arrangement.” Copperplate shook his head at Prowl’s request. “You’re sensor dense, even for a Praxian, and you’ve got a main node right there that would cause you chronic pain for the rest of your life, at best, if I did it.”

Prowl frowned for a moment. He and Jazz had both been excited at the prospect of adding this particular piercing to his wings and trying out the elevated sensory response during interfacing that was supposed to go with it. But if it wasn’t safe, they would both have to live with their disappointment.

“I understand. Is there anything similar that would be safe?”

“Well.” Copperplate turned his screen and pointed to a section of Prowl’s wing that was closer to his back than any location he’d had pierced before. “If you’re looking for the, uh, interfacing bonus that goes with that other one, there’s a few we can do here. And I just got in some nice jewelry that’d look real good in ‘em.”

Prowl considered for a moment and nodded. “All right. Will you show me the simulation?”
