“What are you cooking?” Prowl stepped out of the shadows and sat down next to Jazz at the fire.
Jazz didn’t startle, but only because he’d heard something out in the trees ten minutes earlier and he’d been primed to sacrifice his dinner if he had to defend himself against something less friendly than a bard-turned-thief who happened to be his best friend. “Roast beast.”
“Yes, I could smell that much. What kind of beast?” Prowl set his guitar down and then pulled off his pack.
“No idea. It was small, furry and not poisonous when I checked it.” Jazz shrugged. “Mighta been a rabbit before.”
Before the death of Epistemus and the birth of Adaptus that sent wild magic out across the world and changed people, animals and plants in unpredictable ways.
“I see.” Prowl reached into his travel pack and pulled out a smaller bag. He opened it before offering it to the Paladin. “Mushrooms and fruit to add to the feast.”
“Fair deal.” Jazz smiled. “So what brings you out this way? I thought you were staying in Praxus with Smokescreen and Bluestreak for a while.”
“Blue had a vision. I came to find you before it could come true.”
