Silver’s hideout wasn’t as inviting as he thought it would be, but Yellow still wanted to visit. He assured them beforehand that most things would be dusty, and that there is a large gaping hole in the ceiling. But Yellow still wanted to visit.
It was obvious Silver had been living there, as there were still ashes in the makeshift fireplace, and the bed was newly made. Fresh, colorful sheets, contrasting against the dull greyness of the rest of the shed. Yellow stayed to have a sleepover, regardless.
Using their hat to fan away most of the dust bunnies from the floor, they happily pulled out their sleeping bag and smoothed it out on the floor. “This is so cozy!” they chirped.
“You think so?” he scratched the back of his neck, awkwardly sitting on the edge of his bed.
“Yeah!! You can easily see the stars from here!” they pointed towards the constellation of Ursa Major, barely peeking from behind the trees of Ilex Forest.
He craned his neck, seeing the array of bright stars decorating the night sky. To him, they were just stars scattered beyond the clouds, but he tried to focus his vision to see where the correlation was between some dots in the sky and an Ursaring.
The memory of Ursaring carried his injured father away during the aftermath of the battle against Team Rocket flashed into his mind involuntarily. He shook his head, and was surprised to see he was crying.
“Silver?” Yellow stood up from their sleeping bag, sitting next to him on the bed.
He sniffled and wiped his eyes, a futile attempt to withdraw his feelings from everyone, but for some reason, he couldn't hide it from them. Yellow hugged him, rubbing circles on his back as he continued to achingly sob into their shoulder.
“Thank you for coming.” he whispered after some deep breaths.
“Any time.” Yellow smiled back at him, with unconditional affection in their eyes.
