sasuke usually dont really engage in relationships with people too deep, everybody knows that. with you on the other hand, dont have something particulary, you couldnt say he is different per se, but he tolerates you.
that’s more than most get.
it doesn’t mean he’s thrilled when kakashi pairs you two up for a mission. the flicker of irritation on his face is impossible to miss.
“kakashi, was there no one else?” his voice is flat, but the weight behind it feels heavier than necessary.
“you’re not exactly overflowing with options, sasuke. she’s capable.” kakashi says it casually, eye crinkling just slightly under the weight of his mask.
sasuke doesn’t argue. just clicks his tongue and shifts his stance, clearly unamused but unwilling to waste energy fighting something inevitable.
“fine. let’s just get this over with.”
you don’t take it personally. not really.
it’s an important mission, the kind that can actually make or break a shinobi’s reputation. you’re both strong enough to handle it. kakashi knows it. sasuke knows it. it’s just… him.
the real problem isn’t the mission.
it’s you. or more accurately, the way you feel about him.
