Their shared dorm room was dark, save for the few rays of moonlight that peeked in through the window.
Ness usually fell asleep almost instantly, but on this night he couldn't bring himself to shut his eyes. Despite the time on the clock showing that it was already 4:42 in the morning, Ness was wide awake.
All was silent in the room. Kaiser was fast asleep by now, having exhausted himself from their intense training that day. They both had pushed themselves a little harder than usual. However, Ness still felt oddly energetic.
It was Christmas after all. His first Christmas with Kaiser.
Well, technically they were spending the holidays with almost the entire team. Other than the people who decided to go back home to celebrate, many of their teammates were still hanging out in the club's building. Kaiser was one of the people who still remained, along with Ness. After all, both of them had nowhere to go.
The sun would rise soon, and Ness would have to get out of bed to prepare breakfast. Yet, he still didn't want to sleep. His heart just couldn't keep still.
He glanced over at Kaiser, who was sleeping peacefully in his own bed across the room. Ness stared at his face for a couple of minutes, just happily taking in every detail of his beauty. Ness could never get enough of Kaiser's face, especially when he looked so at ease like this.
Ness crawled out of his bed carefully so as to avoid making too much noise and disturbing Kaiser's rest. He sat down on the floor, right next to Kaiser's bed. Curiously, he leaned in and whispered, "Are you asleep?"
No response. Seeing that Kaiser was in such a deep sleep, Ness got a little bolder and started rambling softly.
"Kaiser, I really admire you. I don't know what I'd do without you. Can't we just stay like this? I'd like to spend the next Christmas with you again... and all of the ones after that too."
Ness could never peel his eyes away from Kaiser since the day they first met. It was as if he'd encountered a mystical being, full of magic that he wanted to admire forever. He had watched as Kaiser shone as bright as a star, shone so bright that he could be seen from a universe away.
Ness gently brushed his fingers against Kaiser's hair. If he let this moment slip through his hands, he would regret it for years to come. All he needed was Kaiser's comforting warmth, a warmth that melted all of his sorrows away. He had been completely enchanted by Kaiser, for all he could do was silently admire his everlasting beauty.
Etheral. His deep blue eyes, luscious hair, perfect skin, it was all so pretty. It couldn't be real. But it was. Kaiser was real, and right there before Ness's eyes.
Ness realised what he was thinking about Kaiser and snapped out of it. A faint blush dusted his cheeks. Was he in love with Kaiser? Yes, no, maybe so.
As Ness sat by his side, he looked at Kaiser's soft expression and it was all that mattered in the world. What good would thinking about the past, the present and the future do? It all blended into one single answer, and that answer was that he was happy at Kaiser's side.
