Chapter Text
Greenhill was beautiful blooming with plants and even a farm, but deeper into greenhill was more city buildings made by the heroes of the world. The city was vast but it wasn't too tech savvy it was just right the way the city should be. In one small apartment a girl with a dream and a passion.
Amy Rose was putting glitter onto a card.
"Amy you're 19 shouldn't you stop playing with glitter."
Amy had been working on this all day and Blaze was watching it all. Amy being 19 didn't matter to her own self being. She was content and happy the way she acted. Her childish love for Sonic never diminished either. This was foolish for everyone in the group even Sonic himself but that was Amy, her love and passion was undeniable when it came to everything around her. Always there for everyone in need especially Sonic.
"I know but you're about to leave and I want to know what I should get him? I mean you're from the future- right? If the future has changed do you think me and Sonic's wedding was big?" Amy twirled around and kissed the card, she got an envelope and put the card in it.
Blaze stared at her and smiled a bit, "You do know I'm not allowed to talk about the future since Silver has forbade me."
Amy sighed and nodded, "I know I just thought it would be nice to know the colors of my wedding!"
They were both in Amy's room. Amy had the pinkest room that Blaze immediately envied. Amy's bed was the fluffiest bed she's ever been in and the pillows were as comfortable as the bed. The sheets on the bed were pink colored with red rose patterns on it.
"Do you think we have children?!" Amy scooted towards Blaze holding the card to her heart. Blaze stared at Amy with such compassion.
"Oh I would love it if she had purple eyes or even purple fur! Your purple is so beautiful..." Amy complimented her, Blaze couldn't help but blush and sighed.
"You do know I'm like 200 years younger than you? Right? I'm the same age as Silver. Hey maybe you're my great great grandma!" Blaze burst out laughing as Amy turned a bright shade of red.
"Blaze that's not nice! I don't think I can produce a feline..." Amy didn't mean to offend Blaze but she still got offended anyway.
"What's wrong with felines?"
"Not what I meant! I mean that I'm a Hedgehog-"
"Mobian."
"Still..." Amy never met a different species of mobian couple or even a married couple.
"Amy if you had a kid with another let's say cat mobian, the DNA would mix but you wouldn't have half a breed of the other it would turn out either a hedgehog or cat." Blaze explained. She got a small fruit from the tray on Amy's nightstand.
"It's basic science."
"Isn't basic Science for it to be... Mixed?"
"I am not explaining it again."
Blade was chuckling from Amy's naivety. Amy was pouting a bit and looking at her phone.
"Why did we not get sent to the mission? Don't they need us?"
"It's Silver, Sonic and Shadow. We can't get involved since it could possibly kill us..." Blaze looked at the fruit in her hand, a strawberry.
"What they're dealing with is a heavy amount of chaos energy that can kill us. Since Sonic and Silver have used the chaos emeralds to go... Super... They can handle it. You know Shadow too, he's made of chaos energy." Amy looked at Blaze as she explained.
"Aren't you made of Chaos Energy?"
"Huh? What no! I just guard the Sol Emeralds! That's why I'm able to make fire happen... Sometimes I think I'm too destructive.." Blaze put her head down a bit, Amy put her hand on Blaze's shoulder.
"I think you're a fiery person but that doesn't make you destructive... It makes you shine."
Blaze touched Amy's hand, her smile was pure and innocent. Amy also was smiling.
But Amy's smile turned into a smirk, "So you and Silver..."
"Ah... Yeah we just started dating..." Blaze's face started to heat up, she was blushing and it started to burn.
"How did he ask? Where did he ask?! WHEN?!"
"It's a long story..."
"I'm pretty sure we have time."
Silver was holding flowers in his hand, he was adjusting the bow that he had on his neck. He got annoyed and tore off the bow.
"No that's stupid. Why did I even buy that thing?"
Silver was in front of the castle doors. The guards in front of the doors seemed to just stare at him in confusion, they knew of Silver since Blaze would always have him over. Silver then used the giant handle on the door to knock on it.
Silver looked at them and blushed in embarrassment. The door opened and a maid looked at Silver, he was holding the flowers in his hand and stared at the maid.
"Oh Mister Hedgehog for me?!" The maids gasped.
"N-No I mean if you w-wan- wait no! They're for the pr-pr-"
"I'm teasing Mister Hedgehog!" The maids opened the door and let him in.
Blaze was in her room touching up her sleeves. A knock was heard on her door.
"Come on in."
A maid walked in and bowed to Blaze.
"Your Highness! Mister Silver is here!"
"Alright send him to the drawing room!" Blaze gave her command to her. The maids nodded and walked out.
Blaze looked at herself in the mirror and touched up her hair, she was smiling like an idiot in her opinions. They would always spend time together, watching movies and taking vacations together. Thanks to Knuckles advice she didn't have to stress so much and take much needed breaks.
Blaze walked down the corridor and walked to the open room.
Silver was standing there and showed Blaze the flowers.
"Marry me!"
Blaze stared at him and burst out laughing.
"He proposed to you?! Oh my Chaos!!!"
"Of course I'm not ready for that so I told him let's start off small... He agreed and said he got ahead of himself and this happened right before we got here."
Amy put her hand on her cheek and smiled, "That must've been so romantic."
"Having to deal with cosmic events that involves either sonic or someone dying... Yeah sure... Romantic." Blaze said sarcastically.
Amy sat there a little bored.
"You know Amy there's a saying in my dimension."
Amy paid attention to Blaze once again forgetting the boredom she was just consumed by.
"It's said that there is always a tiny heart following you. This heart you have to hold and protect. Like the red strings of fate."
"Oh I know about that! Me and Sonic are connected by it."
"Have you seen the red strings?"
"Well no."
"Then you can never know but it's said that this heart could break like a heartbreak but it can be so broken that... The color it once was would turn into something else."
"Blue?"
"Depends... the color of the most intense emotion you have at the moment that heartbreak happens."
"So it could be blue."
"I don't know, depends on how you feel." Blaze leaned back.
"Do you think it'll ever happen to me?"
Blaze got quiet for a second then got a notification on her watch. She clicked on it and looked at the message displayed on the small screen.
"We have to meet at the river side it seems like the mission is done."
Amy jumped up to her feet happily and held the envelope to her chest.
Silver was getting treated by Tails with a spray and many equipments.
Tails was holding Silver's arm. Now his arm was almost completely severed. Tails was immediately tending to him pulling out a needle and string. Shadow was on the ground with a bruised up eye and his side was almost ripped open with blood spilling out rapidly he held it with one hand.
Cream was flying towards him with bandages.
"Did you really have to blast the robot?" Sonic eyes lowered to Shadow, Sonic being the one with the least injuries.
"You told me to use my chaos energy and-" Shadow coughed up blood, he held his stomach. Cream was patching him up quickly.
"I didn't think he'd have a shredding whatever the hell it was!" Sonic was tending his wounds with bandages on his hands.
"It's called water manipulation. He manipulated the water and made spikes come from the ground and his body. Shadows chaos punch made it undetectable to you guys. " Tails explained.
"Where is Knuckles and the damn other Chaos emeralds?!" Sonic scoffed.
They had been fighting and while all three were hyper they had been ambushed right when they were about to finish it. Sonic told Shadow to give him a finishing blow. It didn't go as planned. That punch that Shadow did absolutely charged the robot enough that it was able to use one last ability before exploding into ice that pierced Shadow and Silver. Sonic noticed the water coming at him and ran out of there.
While they left they were able to gather a few chaos emeralds but Knuckles had to retrieve the rest.
"You have to work on your aquaphobia!" Silver yelled out. "You ran out of the way before we could even react!"
"It's not my fault it threw water at us!"
"What is all this yelling?" Sonic's ears twitched and he walked over to the voice, putting his hand on her shoulder he moved her away from the scene.
"Sal! Hey! Let's talk over here." Sonic smiled to the Squirrel mobian, Sally.
Sally was unamused and sighed, "I came right when I got Tails text message."
"He texted you?"
"Yeah, obviously. I'm the only one with medics." Sally pointed to the couple of medical mobians rushing to the scene. Sally put her hands on his chest, "But honestly I thought I'd see more blood on you."
Sally was now the queen of her kingdom that wasn't so far away from Greenhill,
Sonic smirked and got closer to her, his hand gently resting on her hip.
Shadow raised an eyebrow, "I didn't think the blue hedgehog would have any other affections other than Rose." He said loudly. Not even accidentally did he say it. He purposely said it so he could see Creams reaction. And as he predicted she did have a reaction. Her bunny ears perked up and turned to the side towards where Shadow was looking at after glancing at his face.
Creams face seemed to turn white in shock and disbelief, "Sally's back? That's... Not good."
Shadow looked confused, he's never met the girl named Sally but from what he could see, her and Sonic definitely had a past.
Sally's fingers went up to Sonic's chin. She was definitely flirting with him. Sonic pulled Sally into a close kiss.
Shadow moved his head to look at Silver who was being coddled by Blaze suddenly. He never saw her get there. He never really spoke to her like a friend but occasionally. Only once has he ever spoke to both Silver and Blaze together and they were both fools in love. It wasn't subtle. But if she was there wasn't...
"Amy?"
Tails called out her name.
Everyone could see her standing there and Amy's cheeks got filled with tears. Shadow could see her drop an envelope, bits of glitter fell out. Something was scattered and he didn't think it was just the glitter.
What no one knew was the moments before she saw them.
Amy was arriving at the river side, Blaze was ahead of her running to Silver who was badly injured. The injury looked pretty bad and from what she could see. Amy glanced at Shadow, she felt a sense of pity wash over her. But Amy was on a mission after she delivered the letter she'll check on him.
Amy approached Tails with a sway, "Sonic where?" She simply said.
Tails blinked at Amy and handed her the red chaos emerald she was the guardian of it then he simply brushed her off, "I-I don't know Amy." Tail's was too busy focusing on Silver's arm. It was a good reason to ignore her. Amy simply pouted.
While looking around she noticed how beautiful the land was and the ground was littered with water droplets from the night before, a storm had passed by greenhill. The water on the ground was like crystals and following those crystals she saw the reflection of blue bounce off a few droplets ahead. Sonic.
Amy walked closer to the droplets and looked up.
She regretted looking up.
There he was. The love of her life kissing another woman. Specifically Sally, her long time friend and supporter of her infatuations for Sonic. Sally would always tell her to make her move.
Amy snapped her fingers not hearing Tail's calling out her name. Her giant Piko Piko Mallet appeared in her hand, she couldn't stand it. Her friend turned foe in this very moment. Amy lunged at them.
Sonic noticed Amy and moved out of the way quickly, he knew that Sally would be able to dodge. At least he thought she would dodge. Sally stood there in shock. The moment was quick but easy, Amy's Mallet slammed down on Sally with full force.
All that was heard was a crack. What did she do? The small hands on the handle of the mallet started to shake as it was pulled back after the hit. Amy stared at Sally on the ground, no matter how angry she was. She hurt her closest friend with the very weapon she created that she promised would never kill one of her friends. Sally looked dead. Amy's eyes went wide.
"Sal!" Sonic yelled in fear and anger, he approached Amy and pulled the mallet off her hands, "Are you insane?" Sonic threw the mallet across the forest and made it slam against a tree. Sonic got next to Sally in worry.
Amy eyes darted from Sonic's angry expression to Sally's corpse. She fell to the ground, everyone gathered around them mostly on Sally since she was the one possibly dead.
Tail's instantly went to assist Sonic with Sally, he used a mechanism to check her pulse.
Blaze stared at Sally, she was a bit annoyed. Sally wouldn't have died from that so why is she on the ground? She could've dodged easily, she was trained to dodge such hits so... Why didn't she? Blaze put a hand on her chin, her boyfriend being a little more... naive. Silver placed a hand on Blaze's shoulder sympathetically, he definitely thought Sally was killed.
He was a little slow on these things.
Shadow approached the scene slightly surprised. He never thought Amy would hurt anyone, let alone her closest friend. Shadow was undoubtedly impressed.
The forest was quiet except for the small chirping and moving of mechanics from Tails backpack.
"She's okay." Tails reassured Sonic. Sonic sighed in relief and looked at Amy with disdain and anger.
"What is your-"
"No." Amy interrupted Sonic, Amy got up and stumbled forward. Her skin started to crack and those cracks were replaced with black scars.
Blaze eyes widened and knew exactly what was happening, Blaze tried to approach Amy but Silver stopped her. The reason he stopped her is because of the amount of energy Amy was emitting that not even Blaze could see, that energy was chaotic, even more chaotic that the chaos emeralds itself.
Amy's pocket glowed red as she gritted her teeth, "I won't be a fool for you any more."
The grass surrounding Amy started to wither away, the more the energy the more the surroundings around her would wither away along with her. No one knew this, no one knew what was happening, not even Amy herself. Yet Shadow knew. He knew this exactly. He ran to Amy and hugged her tightly absorbing the energy.
Amy was angry, she was pissed off...
She was hurt.
Amy was so hurt. Her heart yearned for Sonic and she thought it was reciprocated. Amy clutches at Shadows back with her nails digging into him, her hands turned pitch black.
"No, I don't need you!" The lies she yelled out the lies she wanted to believe. She hit Shadow's back in anger. Shadow took the blunt of the hits and gripped her tighter, her energy was getting worse and stronger. Amy's eyes filled with tears from pain and sadness.
Shadow held on tightly to her, he knew pain and he could feel it from the energy, the energy dwindled away and soon Amy was passed out within his arms.
Shadow held Amy tightly and picked her up, his eyes darted to Sonic.
Sonic stared at Amy's figure in shock, her body was cracking in different places and darkness was engulfing her. His grip on Sally tightened. This wasn't supposed to happen. He didn't want to hurt her but the state Amy was in was severe. Sonic trembled from Shadow's gaze, Shadow knew he could frighten the blue hedgehog.
Sonic was the one guilty in this situation.
Wasn't he?
