Work Text:

You hated your never ending exhaustion. You wanted to be up and do things. Be outside and enjoy life. But instead, your mind and body succumbed to itself after either a few hours or a few tasks.

At least you weren’t alone today, though. Even if the thought was selfish.

Harumasa was taking one of his sick days and decided to spend the day with you.  However, spending the day with you ended pretty quickly due to your chronic exhaustion. He waved off your worries by telling you that he was feeling tired too. And now here the both of you were, snuggled up in your bed. He rested on top of you, his head on your chest while you were on your back, staring blankly at the ceiling despite the burning in your eyes.

You could be as tired as hell, but once you got into bed and under the covers, the call of sleep would immediately disappear. You were annoyed, but comfortable. At least Harumasa was comfortable.

That is until your fingers, that were playing in his hair, accidentally brushed up against his neck.

He jumped back from you to the other side of the bed. You stay where you were, keeping your hands open and clear for him to see.

You don’t know how much time passed, but it didn’t matter. If he needed you to wait forever, you would.

Despite knowing that he didn’t have that .

When he was ready, he slowly crawled back to you. He didn’t return to his spot, but instead sat beside you. You took a moment to sit up and face him, your hands returned to the previous position.

He immediately took them both, lacing his fingers with yours.

“I’m sorry.” His head was down, hiding his gaze from you.

You leave him be—“You don’t need to apologize. You didn’t do anything wrong.” For the most part.

You’d never blame him for his reactions, you just wanted him to stop apologizing for them. He didn’t need to apologize for feeling, even if it’s involuntary.

At the end of the day, you both were living breathing beings with feelings.

And even when that day came, when he didn’t look like Asaba Harumasa.

He’d still be Asaba Harumasa you love.

Notes:

This wasn't supposed to be self-indulgent, and it's kinda not (but kinda is). Anyway, I wrote this on my phone in bed after sleep left me, I was exhausted, wanted to go to sleep, the moment that I did, I couldn't. Sound familiar, huh? :)

Ah, my eyes hurt.
