Oh and this is an AU, and it's a super slow burner so get some snacks or a drink cause this'll be long, idk when I'll post again it honestly depends on whether I'm not too busy but most of it is prewritten so give me some ideas later ok!(^o^)/ and we'll ENJOY~

Chapter 1: The rain

Chapter Text

"It has officially been 7 months since this sudden rainstorm occurred in Seoul and as authorities say the rain won't stop for another 3 mon-" as the TV ruptly cuts a slow and heavy sigh came from a troubled Gi-Hun. "How am I supposed to find work in weather like this?"

As a steamy hot plate hit the table he had sat next to his mother gives him one of her common glares to find work before she kicks him out again. "Thank you Ma" his mother snarls at him and heads back to the kitchen.

While looking at the bowl of soondubu (Gi-Hun's favorite) He had no appetite even for his food due to those pesky loan sharks shaking him down at the bar. And warning him, they'll be waiting there for him to pay the rest of his debt. As the vapor of the food cools down, he lifts his spoon up and tried to eat away the worry, once he finishes he tries to give the bowl back to his mother, who was still in the kitchen but instead of her dense and angered expression, she was devastated on the floor.

Gi-Hun immediately went to his mother and helped her up, her refusal made the task much harder, then she shouts "GI-HUN JUST LEAVE ME HERE I DONT NEED YOUR HELP AND I DONT WANT YOU HERE" as she stands up and continues "I HAVE WORKED MY ASS OFF TRYING TO GET US A DAMN ROOF OVER OUR HEAD AND YOU STILL CAN'T HELP ME" as she shouts the tears stream down her face "Why can't you get a job just like Sangwoo and live without me here..."

As she said that he stared at the ground saying nothing while his thoughts are all over the place. As she continues the argument everything she says was filtered out by the rain hitting the aleady wet roof.

"Get out of my house Gi-Hun" her tone filled with hatred "I never want to see you here again" As she said that Gi-Hun stared at the windows filled with fog then back at the floor as he slowly walks out the room to wear something warm to go out in.

He packed what he could and arrives at the door, he realizes he needs an umbrella so he rummages through the closet and pulls out an oddly familiar umbrella that was hand made with his name beautifully embroidered on a piece of cloth attached to the crook handle of the umbrella, he doesn't know or atleast doesn't remember where it came from but it felt like one of the only things he had owned that wasn't stolen from him, as he finishes up and heads to the door he turns around to reminisce about the memories of this crappy household then opens the door and heads off not looking back. The streets of the rural area he had grown up in were silent no dogs barking, no distant traffic noises just the hitting the ground hard.

As he walks he feels a sense of loneliness pours over him as the vaguely familiar umbrella temporarily shelters him, he doesn't know where to go or what to do, he has no money, or friends close by. As he continues to walk to the top of a steep hill he notices a figure just slightly shorter than he was standing close to a really high edge, below was a long way down to a community river. As he comes closer he hears the man laughing to himself, as if he went crazy. Gi-Hun felt wary approaching the man. So as he's about to turn the other direction he heard the man quiet down and the light sound of an umbrella falling down. He hears the old fence creek as if being stood on top of. Gi-Huns head jolts to the direction of the man, that was once on the ground onto the fence with no umbrella, he seems to be taking in the rain. Gi-Hun immediately knew what was happening, the mysterious man was about to jump as he's realizing this he immediately leaps forward dropping the umbrella as he goes.

He runs up to the fence and before the man let himself off of the fence Gi-Hun quickly grabs his upper arm. The man just barely hanging off of the long dam wall, looks up to see an unfamiliar face of worry looking at him. His eyes suddenly went from the acceptance of death to a glare of hope

But Gi-Hun isn't a strong man and can't keep this up so with all the strength he had left in him he pulls tries pulling the man back onto the edge, he was successful, but at what cost. As Gi-Hun finally gets the man onto the ledge he hears the creak of the fence. The man made it up alive but Gi-Hun replaced his attempt (Silent Voice reference😝) Gi-Hun realizing what happens feels the tension of the situation but he was too late, He fell. The man on top called the ambulance but all that could be heard by the unconscious Gi-hun was the light rain hitting the ground
