Work Text:

“...which is why I think we should fund the rehabilitation of Abydos.” Sensei typed on his keyboard before sending the document to Rin, the Chief Administrator Officer and caretaker of the General Student Council.

He looked at his watch to check what time it was. “Huh, it’s only 6:35PM. I finished quite early. What should I do?”

Before he could think of anything, he heard a knock on his door. “Sensei?”

Sensei raised an eyebrow before walking towards the door. “Who is it?”

“It’s me! Noa!” It turns out the secretary of Seminar is visiting SCHALE. “Yuuka-chan is also here!”

Yuuka? Why was she here? He didn’t even bid for the newest figure from the store, so it must have not been that and could be school matters, so he opened the door to let them in. “Come in.”

“Good evening, Sensei.” Noa greeted before entering the office with Yuuka following her afterwards.

“Good evening to you too Noa and Yuuka.” Sensei replied before returning on his desk. “So what brings the both of you here?”

“Sensei,” Yuuka said, her eyes not even looking at him, “do you mind if you join us to procure equipment necessary by the upcoming Millennium Science and Technology Fair?”

“Isn’t it a little late for such an activity?” Sensei chuckled before standing up. “Of course, I am happy to help after all.”

Noa clapped her hands with a huge smile on her face. “Then we should divide ourselves into two groups to be more efficient. I’ll go alone while Sensei goes with Yuuka-chan!”

“What? Why?” Yuuka immediately asked.

The Seminar secretary giggled at her friend. “We need to be able to buy everything we need, right Yuuka?”

“Th- Then why did we need Sensei in the first place?” Yuuka asked.

Noa, however, didn’t bother to respond to Yuuka’s question directly as she walked towards Sensei. “Having Sensei with us would be more fun, am I correct?” She said, her face filled with the same calm smile, but both Sensei and Yuuka knows Noa too well.

“I guess so…” Yuuka muttered. “And if he’s going to have the power to buy something, it would be better if I personally watch his financial decisions.” She added as she crossed her arms.

“That’s good to know.” Sensei said before walking towards the giant window in the office. “I’m over here catching strays.”

Sensei pulled his coat from his office chair to wear it, the weather outside is cold especially since it’s night time.

“Are you guys ready?” Sensei asked as he turns the lights off and the trio leaves SCHALE and towards Kivotos proper.

Once they were in Kivotos, the trio divided into the groups they discussed a while ago. Noa said that she would be in the Valkyrie Academy to talk about additional security for the fair since it’s the days where students from every school are allowed without having to enroll. She suggested to Yuuka and Sensei to be in charge of Seminar’s actual duties, helping the clubs be ready for the upcoming fair.

“Sensei, our first task is to buy more tables since we forecast that there will be more students joining the fair than before.” Yuuka said as the two of them are walking down through the district where many students from Millennium set up small shops.

Sensei and Yuuka entered a store where they sell tables and other hardware. “Good evening, Sensei.” The cashier greeted.

“Good evening.” He replied as Yuuka started to look for tables that could be used.

Sensei later followed Yuuka to ask her a couple questions about the fair. “It’s rare seeing Millennium buying equipment and not producing them, is there a problem?”

“Considering that we forecasted that more and more students care about the advancement of technology, it would be safe to assume that they could check out the Millennium Science Fair.” Yuuka replied as she checked the prices of the shortlist of possible tables to purchase. “If we buy in bulk, would we have a discount?”

“Why?” The clerk asked.

“Businesses normally have one if you buy in bulk.” The Seminar treasurer responded. “Surely there is some sort of leeway, I can’t possibly think of how this table costs this much credits.”

“If we mark down our products, we wouldn’t be gaining a profit no?” The clerk, who seemed to be the owner as well, replied.

Sensei leaned forward to whisper to Yuuka. “What if we just buy from other stores?”

“It’s quite late Sensei, this is the only store that is open.” She whispered back before going to the cashier. “Do you have 200 tables in stock?”

“Of course we do.” The clerk replied before receiving Yuuka’s card. “I just noticed you’re also the treasurer of the school itself, no?”

Yuuka sighed. “Why?”

“Seminar, and in general, your school lost a lot of its money due to the little incident with that former president of yours, am I correct?” The clerk asked as she typed the amount on the screen.

“What?” Yuuka raised her eyebrow.

The clerk smirked after hearing her act dumb. “It’s basically an open secret, treasurer.” She responded after inserting the card to a terminal.

“So the amount of funds they lost was significant.” Sensei thought to himself, remembering the whole event like it was yesterday. “Wait.”

The clerk was about to press enter in the terminal when Sensei brought out his own card and gave it to her before retrieving Yuuka’s. “I’ll pay instead.”

Yuuka was shocked, confused, and a little bit annoyed. “Sensei, it’s not like we’re begging in the streets. Besides, Millennium should be paying because we are hosting it.”

“It’s what sensible adults do.”

“Sorry Sensei, I can’t really see that as a sensible thing to do.” Yuuka interrupted, momentarily destroying Sensei’s sense of being cool . “Why would you use your personal money for something you barely have a stake on?”

His face gave a small smile before placing his hands on her shoulders. “I’m here in Kivotos to help my students, whether I’m directly affected by their problems or not. I’m here to make sure that everyone is happy.”

Hearing this, Yuuka couldn’t help but blush. “O- Of course, Sensei.”

Sensei gave a slight nod before giving one to the clerk as well, signaling to continue with the transaction. Yuuka, however, had different thoughts about what happened. “Geez, Sensei. Stop acting like you don’t know what you’re doing with your words.”
